  • Very nice! I love, love, love my BB-614.

Was the bridge a direct replacement? Any body work involved?

  • Ok, some mistakes man... but I like it! We are human, human commit mistakes... I like the tone, I like the groove! Mark woul'd be proud of it, keep it up! :)

P.s: I love Yamaha BB's tone. I've tried only the 414 and the 415 models (passive) and they sound great. I think I will go to a local shop to try a 614 they have, very curious...

    Bye

  • Great work man. Really like it.

Can you be more specific on which replacement bridge did you use on this bass?

I was thinking of replacing mine (on my Yamaha bb414) with Gotoh 201.

It seems you are very happy with the upgrade.

    Thanks.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • did u change the bridge on that yamaha?

  • @BreakupBass Yes I did. It's a standard high mass Fender aftermarket bridge. Awesome sustain.

  • @Mowac very cool, i put a gotoh bridge on my BB414 and im eventually going to replace the tuning keys to schallers, i love it! got to love that BB tone

  • That bass is one heck of a deal on many online retailers. Tons of great tone, too bad its overlooked so often. Thanks for the vid.

  • @peterdumplin It's hard to beat. The one thing I would definately change about the bass is the bridge pickup cover and keep it squared on the ends as opposed to the round ends , which my thumb keeps slipping off.

  • you make it look so easy man, keep it up, BASS FOR EVER!

  • @mazdaspecial It's just a passion for bass my friend.

  • very good, i like your style

  • @donminino777 Thank you sir.

  • Well that was truly a LOT of mistakes.....

  • You think you're just the bee's knees, don't you?

  • @treemagnet88) Never said I was

  • Hey man just learned this one, I'll have a cover up when I polish it off more. However I just put up two new ones which I'd love for you to take a peek at. I've enjoyed your Jaydee persuasion here man. :)

  • @alvinorto The e.q. is not bad. However, a few controls are hard to turn like as if the pots aren't lubricated and sometimes it's hard to fine tune the sound. I don't like the fact that these pickups are more universal. Meaning you can't just drop another brand of pickups into the cavity without having to do some type of routing and have a new set of pickup mounting rings made. It stills plays great. The round edge on the bridge pickup is hard to keep your thumb on it.

  • pretty nice

  • pretty nice

  • Not many notes are correct at the beginning there dude...And the timing....help! However keep practicing you might get it right some day.

  • Then my advice for you is to go back and listen to the song.

This song's title is obviously a contradiction for you in what you are not doing.

And if I'm not playing it correctly as you claim, then by all means, feel free to post YOUR version of this song then. We're waiting...........

  • @Mowac *TIGERBITE RAWWWR!!!* lol

  • Will get mine in YNS (Yellow Natural Satin) soon.

    Plus the Zoom B2.

  • bravo!!

  • Gotta get me one of those. Great sound Mowac, nice post. Cheers Paul

  • Nice! Used to play in a band that did a lot of Level 42 songs. Just like Level 42 we opened up with this one! I remember the intro being played a little different than this though. Btw. Mark King played Alembic basses before he switched to Jaydee so maybe that's the key to the sound of his earlier sound.

  • Got myself a BB614 too now, been putting it off!

...it seems to be able to play anything and wow, super low action...what a slapmonster too!

  • nice bass man ,,, great playing ,,,

at the momment we are ( the band ) listening to" stanley clarkes" opening statement ,,he lives on ,,, philidelphia sound ,,,,

i hope you can dig that ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,>

    kirk out ,,

  • sweet, love that Yamaha too

  • I just picked up a brand new BB614 in black for $200. The best bang for the the buck bass on the market imho!

  • what model is that one mate

  • BB 614 active

  • I agree the shape is very much like the Jaydee i was only saying that earlier this week to 42 bassman.

Nice tone and you are right it is a slap machine.
