  • great!

  • My grandpa sings this song CONSTANTLY. Just the chorus. I wasn't even sure if it was a real song.

  • OMG I just went back in time about 55 years!

  • Wonder how many under the age of 50 even know what the "little shed right back of the house" is!

  • @enduroman428 Is that where they keep the router and the modem and all those unsightly cables? :)

  • @ I do we had one

  • I like the Jimmy Dean, but check out the Stuart Hamblen original.

  • Outstanding cover of the Stuart Hamblen hit and for my money, it's Jimmy Dean's absolute masterpiece. He is greatly missed.

  • LOVE IT GLAD YOU POSTED IT TY TY TY

  • My friend got this on his jukebox and we we spin both "Big Bad John" and this just as much....

  • 1 person got caught in that little shed that's right back of the house.

  • Spring time in the Mountains and can't read his catalog like he used to? Some pages missing Jimmy?

  • To sm9847, my brother had the same record that I so remember listening to! I believe that the flip side with Big bad John had the original lyrics at the end "One HELL of a man" as opposed to the change made. Am I right?!

  • @minxy123able YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT...THE ORIGINAL VERSION SAID: ONE HELL OF A MAN: WELL, WE ALL KNOW HOW CRANKY THE CATHOLIC CHURCH CAN GET...THEY WERE FORCED TO RE-RECORD THE SONG WITH: A BIG MAN, BIG JOHN...THEN THE ANSWER SONG TO BIG BAD JOHN WAS...THE CAJUN QUEEN, SHE SAVED BIG JOHN FROM THAT DIRTY OLD MINE...GIVE IT A LISTEN

  • @JOEP123ful Thanks!!! Merry Christmas and hope you are listening to some meaningful tunes...Cyndy

  • I did this for our talent show back in the late 50's

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Jimmy Dean

  • RIP Jimmy. You were a Great Singer.

  • i've been a country music fan for most of my 61 years , but I did not know 'til now that this song was written by the great STUART HAMBLIN.

  • My aunt tells me I used to run around the house singing this as a young child. Thanks for sharing it!

  • GREAT TUNE...IT WAS THE FLIP SIDE BIG BAD JOHN COLUMBIA RECORDS....THE OLD ORANGE LABLE

  • Had this when it first came out. Nobody ever believes me when I tell them it was the other side of Big Bad John. Even today I will sing it when I'm by myself. Catchy tune.

  • Yaaaaaa Hooo!

  • One of my very favorite Jimmy Dean recordings. What a fun song to sing!

  • One of my all timefavorite songs. RIP Jimmy

  • Jimmy Dean died today... R.I.P.

  • RIP Mr. Dean. This music is better than anything you will find today that "they" call country.

    Great GB pressing.

  • RIP Jimmy, thanks for the great music

  • Sadly, we lost Jimmy Dean on the thirteenth of June at age 81. I remain inconsolable. And for my money, I Won't Go Huntin' With You Jake is still not only his masterpiece, but one of the most perfect records in all of country music.

  • I've never heard this song before, but it's a cracker!! "That little girl belongs to me, I know she's passed sixteen". Love it, thanks for the post.

  • I love being old

  • Congrats to Jimmy going into the Country Music Hall of Fame

  • Great song !

  • 1:20-1:34!

  • I got this on a first pressing 45

  • this is the most addicting song ive ever heard

  • agreed

  • For my money, this should have been the A-side of the single. It's far and away the best thing that Jimmy Dean ever did; right up there with "Makin' My Mind Up". A classic!

  • I am looking at a 33 1/3 LP (and getting the songs offline)....

FROM THIS LP I say the best are.....

    Big bad john

    PT 109

    Steel Men

    hunting with ya jake

"Dear Ivan" (not on this LP- but its damm good too)!

  • My buddy's got this on his jukebox.

    Great song!

  • LOVE THIS SONG-Hadn't heard it

in many years-I hear music on u tube

    that is lost in time-THANKS

  • does anyone know when this song was made?... much appreciated thanx xxx

  • It was the B-side of his chart hit, "Big Bad John" so we're looking at a recording date of 1961.

  • I have this song on a 33 /3 lp... its CS 9285 AND CL 2485 (google that, might help ya find the date).

  • i haven't heard this in 35years....thanks for posting...jimmy dean was a great entertainer.

  • IS!!!!! he aint dead yet!

  • Thanks from me too... I have spent the better part of 45 years singing this - word for word - to lots of friends and family... It never fails to get strange looks. Great to hear it again.

  • Thanks for posting this! In front of my 6th grade class, I played this side of the 45, instead of the other side, 'Big Bad John'. 40+ yrs. later, friends still remind me. Great song.

  • @rons2004 Happy you discovered side 2 of Big Bad John by accident. Nextdo: Play side 2 of all your 45s! You may discover more good songs :-)
