I've been creating metal drum tracks with beta monkey samples on Fl studio too, but needed some help. This was just what I was looking for. Thanks for posting these vids.
Lol I didn't notice you were coming in only through the left because I have a sinus infection in my right ear atm. Great series of videos, you have a great attitude towards mixing and I really enjoy watching your videos. WIll be subsribing
@norka99 Actually, I didn't explain it right. What I meant was mix all the drums individually to emulate a kit being played inside a room. So actually, you would treat it as if you were making a "room" recording of your drum samples, just make sure that if its the overheads track, that the cymbals are the most present in recording. The problems you face in doing that are that sometimes the samples are already pre mixed somewhat (Gated, Eq) Yes you can cause phase cancellation.
@Mikeaudioproductions I use a stereo shaper to avoid that problem, since a room track sounds spaced out by nature, a reverb set up to emulate a room always helps as well. Please let me know if that answered your question. No, of course its not a complete replacement to the sound of an actual room or overhead track, but it can help broaden the sound of a sample drum kit.
Sorry to everyone for the screw up on my part in the vid.
@norka99 You don't have to apologize. I didn't assume you were trolling. Actually, that was an excellent question, and I encourage anyone to ask questions at that caliber. (^_^)
Awesome video, I was kind of messing around while watching and I didn't pick up if you played those drums or penciled them in? If you penciled it teach me your ways. Sounded great!
@DEATHLOVEandYOU I penciled them in, piece by piece. I will do a video then, on how to pencil in drums while making them sound realistic. Let me know if there is anything else you need to know (^_^).
If you know how to use Double Bass Mania samples, they're no doubt better than SD 2.0

when you bounce down into a wave to create "overheads", wouldn't you get severe phase cancellation? I don't see how that would be effective.
