Carl Stewart was also the champion fiddler of Alabama at the young age of 16. He played the piano, mandolin. Very talented. He passed away Feb. 4 1993. Hello goes out to Cyndee.

It's not the original since my father Carl Stewart played with him on the first .They had no steel guitar on the original.Dad played the bass on it.He was also with Hank in the beginning playing fiddle/bass with the Plantation Boys.I believe it came out in 1933.

Is this the original version? I do believe this was recorded in 1940 or '41.
Dang near everybody who is anybody has covered it. I used to sing this when I was a kid.

@glipzik the other version of this that i have is by tex williams but i think hank pennys is the better of the two
