  • At 0:00 he was conducting firstly, but he was

  • I love this type of music but watching the conductor always kills me. Not a single member of the orchestra is watching him; every eye is on their own music sheets.

  • @sjtom57 Actually, every member of the orchestra is watching him, in their peripheral vision. It's hard to explain if you've never played in a band like that. But those movements he makes syncs up with the rhythms in your mind and everything works out. Also he cues tons of parts that you just don't know about. It's impossible to play songs like this without a conductor.

  • @Tuber - The cannons are distracting? It's called the 1812 Overture...leaving out the cannons would be a disgrace!

Love this performance :) I listen to it over and over again!

  • Outstanding!

  • goosebumps at 5:22!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The canons always piss me off. So distracting.

  • @Tuber228756 They are actually written in the score...leaving them out is like leaving out the percussion section:it's just not right.

  • If this guy makes love like he conducts, I wanna marry him.

  • Happy 5th November!

  • 19 people were scared by the cannons.

  • Only time I don't mind 240p :)

  • Man the tuba guy is beasting his part! Just look at his face!

  • This it's a masterpiece, the interpretation is absolutely awesome!!.

  • The most incredible version of the Overture I've ever seen, fantastic performance, by all, but especially the conductor. His humor and passion are just staggeringly impressive.

  • in soviet russia, music is weapon.

  • Masterful. Goose bumps to me!!!! . from Colombia ♥

  • 19 people are blindly gallivanting through life.

  • Outstanding!

  • Astounding interpretation and by far the most passionate performance of this piece that I've seen.

  • Fantastic piece of music, excelently performed!!

  • jackie chan got mad skills

  • Isn't the conductor eiji oue?

  • I really enjoyed listening to this recording! It was well performed and well interpreted. :-)

  • The ultimate version of 1812 Overture.

  • 前田吟

  • It's not that the Russian's won, but that the French lost! As per usual.

• Fabulous! Bravo!

  • rubbish version, of the orchestrator is reading, then pm mefor tips

  • fabulous, bravissimi! That conductor is one of the most brilliant I have ever seen, and the whole orchestra is great!

  • Wonderful, conductor is so intense.

The Musicians from Japan I think are the finest in the world and I have heard many global orchestras.

    Keep up the great work.

on a scale of 1-10 they are 10++++

  • Something inside me always melts when the conductor goes "ba ba ba bom"

  • Ratchet and Clank brought me here :)

  • Gazillions of years from now on, this will be the soundtrack of the final and definitive triumph of Good over Evil

  • @KellyPedro Dont you mean next year? ;)

  • This is Beautiffull!! Friendly greetings from holland!! (k)

  • OMG! Is that Jackie Chan?!

  • @Aurleekai LMFAO you made me laugh so hard rofl

  • Love this in the final scene of V for Vendetta

  • That man is very serious about his job...

  • That reminds me. I should add this piece to my sex tape.

  • That's why I love the Japanese. They are passionate about other people's cultures because they have a rich culture of their own.

  • Not bad! Like the way he remains in tempo at the end - so many rush it it and spoil things!

  • What the hell does this have to do with Brad's Doodle?

  • Amazing love the ending

  • Great performance although I would have preferred if the ending march went a bit faster. But the conductor built up the suspense very nicely

  • @5:10-5:15 best 5 seconds in any classical song EVER!

  • RISK 2.

  • @redman8903

The AI on that game sucked. LOL I used to play it all the time.

  • 马英九改行了?

  • This is the score I chose for my graduation. It fits.

  • and he goes of the delicate swan to cannons in a second

  • the passion in their playing almost brings tears to my eyes

  • 5:15 = EPICNESS

  • 17 people should die...

  • Now I want to beat up a Frenchman.

    With cannons.

  • @skatelady80 Then what do you think sounds good?

  • @skatelady80 Since you're so jealous... you have no taste in music and you're black hearted, so stfu. Your face is sh*t. You're blocked.

  • Any piece of music that has cannon fire as a part of the score is officially awesome.

  • EPIC

  • 15 people are from Napoleon's army.

  • Amazing! I Love it! Thanks for posting this video

  • How adorable is the conductor? He's so into the whole thing, you can even see his mouth moving at one point to match the sound of the orchestra. Of course, if I'd been in the audience, I'd have been doing the same thing, probably...

  • full blast toward the end woot epic :D

  • oh 1812, you make me so happy ^.^

the only thing better than listening to you is playing you ^.^

  • <3

  • What a fantastic conductor!

  • This is one of the best-conducted versions of this I have ever heard. Bravo. It's often how high the bows go.

  • This is one of the best-conducted versions of this I have ever heard. Bravo.

  • One of those classical music pieces that you can just close your eyes and see the music

  • tchaikovsky would have made one hell of a DJ

  • WOW!!!!!

  • My speakers are on full blast, my whole house is shaking, but I STILL WANT IT LOUDER !!!!!!!!!!

  • 15 frenchs didn`t like this....

  • OH ME GOD !!!!

  • I like the ending

  • Compare to Finlandia by Sibelius. This song is very fantastic! However, it takes very long.

  • 15 people are afraid of the cannons...

  • I think that for being able to create this kind of music, you have to love your nation and its history, or you just hate the world, and for that you can create something so strong as this piece

  • perfect.

  • このコマンドは番ではありません。

  • Only Tchaikovsky could turn artillery into a musical instrument.

  • @BeowulfCav Only Russian could :)

  • @BeowulfCav Not exactly, listen to the Beethoven's Wellington's Victory ;)

  • @BeowulfCav SOOOOO true!

  • @BeowulfCav Before Tchaikovsky, Beethoven had done in the "Battle of Waterloo"

  • @BeowulfCav only a russian could turn military weapons into art. agreed

    long live Russia

  • I'm thankful to know that electronic instruments will NEVER be able to reproduce such and epic, majestic sound.

  • This is one of the best version in the internet

  • 14 people belong to the Napoleon Army.

  • There has never been a song that can compare with the 1812 Overrture. Truely the best ever.

  • There is not a home sound system powerful enough to play this song

  • me encanta .... hermosa cancion para relajarte....

  • I am an American... and I know this was written by Tchaikovsky to celebrate Russia's victory over Napoleon... and I still think it's an incredibly patriotic song. For any country... why look at the negative, when you can look at the positive. Sheesh... some people's children...

  • @Scott06096 the only thing that you know is, where to search @ wikipedia. Thats why you are american

  • @GermanDeath - I don't understand your comment. I know that you are making a negative comment toward me but I don't understand the intent or your point. And what does wikipedia have to do with anything? I'm talking about historical facts.

Everything is relative: I would think some French people would hate the song and some Russians would love it because of the story behind it.

But music can rise above it's original intent and become something more... THAT's ART!

  • @GermanDeath - I am just one person. But for me, 1812 Overture contains such passion and provides a musical portrayal of oppression, struggle, battle, and eventual victory. It doesn't matter the origin. Any citizen of any country that has fought oppression and won a victory can feel so moved. But you should know that... your country has a long proud history of fighting tyrrany and winning victories!

  • Amazing!!!

  • Dude this conductor's like a god.

  • 5:09 : Climax!

  • the word "climax" is the best word i have for this...

  • it makes me laugh how stupid Americans think this is their patriotic song. What losers......

  • @HardikG121 You don't need to be such a jerk about it!

  • @HardikG121 I'm american and I think that too. every time someone leaves a comment saying "such a patriotic song" or "this makes me glad I'm american", i'm the one who has to say its about Russia's triumph over France

  • @MrRanchdressing1 lol I feel the same way

  • @MrRanchdressing1 i didn't even know what this song was about until high school. i honestly thought it was an American song; then i felt dumb :p regardless of its meaning, it's still so beautiful.

  • Ideas are bulletproof

  • I have seen this performed so many times by so many diff orchestras..and I still think that it is, without a doubt, the sing most emotional piece of music ever writting by anyone or performed by any group. JUST AMAZING...always......

  • this song makes me wonder..... is cannon fire written into the music?

  • @Someonewholovesmusi1 yes it is...the only time in any piece where cannon is written into the score.

  • 5:17 Japanese conductor rocking his head vigorisly back and forth to the 1812 overture. Your argument is REALLY invalid.

  • BRAVO!!!

    [standing ovation]

    -- perfect timing. :)

  • Did is it just me, or are they actually doing this at night time, outside? That might mean that they used real cannons, possibly, right?

  • That is a great performance. Awesome.

  • 14 French viewed this video and promptly rioted in the streets.

  • @su79nioj ROTFL

  • 2:45 I love that guys tie !

  • he's a horrible conductor

  • i bet they smashed old useless drums for the cannons. sniff. they shld'v kept the timpanis.

  • frist minute its a Boss song

  • 13 People had family in parliament when they blew it up.

  • This is one of those few pieces of music that can shake your core and send chills. Timeless and amazing.

  • there is absolutely NO WAY IN THE ENTIRE WORLD THAT YOU CAN HATE THIS SONG...

  • i hated classical music .... but then i heard this song :)

  • I just had an Osakagasm !

  • @kevin212122

He probably just wrote a normal percussion score or a simplified one and expected that copies would be delivered to the cannon crews.

Actually, at the time this was composed, it was practically impossible to use cannons as intended. The technology then wasn't advanced enough. Even today it might be somewhat of a challenge to use real artillery in this.

  • What a great performance !!

  • #5:19 i got the chills

  • @monzr93 Hell yeah !! Me too =D

  • The whole performance was cool but the ending was zorch!!

    Zamunda Zorchalate

  • How did Tchaikovsky write in the cannons on the music, did he just draw a picture of a cannon. Hahahahah, no but seriosly how did he write in the cannons.

  • The ending gave me goosebumps!

  • I love this piece of music. This orchestra sounds very good ;-)

  • Wait did they get offstage brass too!? Oh extra points!

... and what the heck was used for Cannon? Cued Recording?

  • wow. this Orchestra is flawless

  • SOUNDGASM!...MAGIC!

  • VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

  • LOL ~5:08 a trumpet rushes!

  • Comment removed

  • fab! love it at 5:36

  • fab!

  • WOW !

  • 素晴らしい!

  • shame on the 13 people who disliked this.

  • Up until the finale was perfect. The conductor was great, the orchestra was great, timing impeccable, the damned end got them, oh well.

  • @SteveAndrewLangford

The end seems to throw off a lot of orchestras. I don't know why.

  • grandé idiot napoleon, the fool who thinks he can take russia.

  • @TheCorruptedNerd

He took rest of europe. If not his foolish attack in winter, and if not the plan of Suworow to refuse battle, he very well might have succeded.

  • 13 people deserve cannon shoots!

  • 13 People deserve getting bloed up.

  • This is the greatest piece of music ever written.

  • I LOVE THE ENDING VERY MUCH !!!

  • @leaopang the ending is the grand part of the overture;get chills is so grand

  • i love Tchaikovsky for a reason, 5:09 is why

  • The conductor is Jackie Chan?

  • @rib4m4 No, he just looks so. And the complete orchestra also. And the public as well. Lol. Nontheless, the best performance of the overture I've ever seen.

  • I must admit I get an extra kick out of seeing the Japanese execute (and attend) this performance. No freedom-loving culture (or individual, for that matter) can deny that this piece shakes the listener to their very core. To me, this symphony is the single most identifiable anthem of classical liberalism. The Star-Spangled Banner is up there, of course, but that's a more nationalist take on it (for us Americans).

  • @Delirious1977

You do know this is a communist piece right. Although I'm not going to lie it is very inspiring.

  • @reballers Now it all makes sense...no wonder it's played every 4th of July in the US. I trust, however, that you are familiar that the Russian Empire was an autocratic monarchy between 1721-1917, before the communist Revolution brought about the Soviet Union...? Not sure how this would then qualify as a "communist piece"...?

  • @Delirious1977

    I bow to your pwnage.

  • @thissystemneeds It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it.

  • @reballers

In 1812 there was communism in Russia xD?

Tchaikovsky died in 1894. Russia became communistic after the (or shortly before the end) of WWI (1918).

  • @reballers this is 1812 overture referring to the battle of borodino when napoleon invaded Russia

  • this is the only recording i know where i actually love the sound the cannon makes!

  • I love at 5:11 when you can see the conductor's "ba ba ba ba ba bum bum".

  • I get goosebumps every time!!!

  • This isn't even HQ, but the audio capture was great. Someone mic'd up that performance right! One of the best renditions on youtube!
