Why does no-one understand this. sephiroth has jenova's cells inside him, when he fell into the lifestream during the nibelheim incident it caused his powers to grow and now he controlls jenova. the sephiroth throughout most of the game is jenova in sephiroth form.

@MuranoProductions It's a good game. The time travel style probably didn't interest you that much is all. It grew on me to be honest. I ALMOST got bored with it. I still say the best RPG is Legend of Dragoon.

It wasn't that. The combat just felt slow to me and didn't really require a lot of strategy. As far as character development went, I didn't really have a reason to care about them. I heard you learn about them during the optional sidequests, but I feel that's too far into the game to start developing the characters. I realize it's an old game, but there was literally hardly any interactions or reasons to care.

This is true, but I think Hojo had the most to do with this then anything. Without him, Spehiroth wouldn't have been born and JENOVA would be still locked up. Soldier would probably not exist and the whole mess would have been diverted. Thus saying, the true villian was Hojo

That means one Knights can do more damage than they get extra HP [Knights max damage around 127k], which explains why I never had any trouble after using Knights on Jenova-Synthesis lol.

Still, it's rather annoying when the two optional dungeons (the ancient forest & the shipwrecked plane are harder to beat than the final dungeon)

The reason many people say the were off guard when first fighting Jenova BIRTh was because it was completely unexpected (and I love that!) up to that point you were just fighting Shinra and monster in search of the mysterious man Sephiroth from Cloud's past. So lo and behold when you fight Jenova BIRTH on the boat you know this is different, the creepy alien tune, the tougher stronger boss, you knew this was not a regular boss fight. All other Jenova fights were fun because they were unexpected.

And Lucrecia never was Vincent's lover. Vincent was in love with her but she was more in love with his father Grimoire and her mind got weaker and weaker after Vincent's father sacrificed his life for her.

No, the Ultimania doesn't say it. I don't know if you know japanese or have only the internet translation but I know it. And I have the english version of Final Fantasy VII as well. Hojo explains how Sephiroth uses his will an JENOVA's reunion. Of course JENOVA would use Sephiroth but Sephiroth is just to strong and got even stronger when he travelled through the lifestream the first time. Nevertheless he is JENOVA's legacy so technically JENOVA wins as well.

It is not like Sephiroth was always that strong. I think you misunderstand me here. He and his will still had to get stronger and he had to experience the power of JENOVA. Most of its powers were not used by him before he was a villain as we know.

@Cetra29 I'm sure he wasn't when he was a child, and he obviously became much more powerful after the Nibelheim incident, but it seems he was more gifted than any normal human could be relative to his stages of development.

I think his excellence resulted in an inability to relate to normal people and a huge sense of self-worth. I suspect he never really learned compassion either. So he was already suited to take on the "higher" messianic role he found, or made, in Nibelheim.
