@03yjr Dude, you don't HAVE to make up your own songs in american idol. You can sing songs that have already been written, but you have to follow copyright laws and make sure it's okay witht the original artist of the song.
This version is MUCH better than Evanescence. Carly's voice is great because she doesn't sound like she's a dying cat after the first minute of the song. She did a great job and I'm glad she got in with WATF

The thing about covers, is that the performer does not cover a song to try and out do the original singer/songwriter. The point is to pay tribute to the song and songwriter. Amy performs this much better because it is her song. Carly's performance in an objective way was good, her voice is great, and she shows passion. The problem isn't a singer performing in the same style and genre, but the fact that fans only observe them as though they are attempting to be the same. I'm a big fan of both.
She seems like she's struggleing to sing and she can't keep those high notes long enough. It's sad actually. I've got nothing against her, but if you want to make something GOOD of your voice, do it in your own -fitting- style.

Carly is not Amy, but she is the lead vocalist of the band which is "Evanescence." The thing about covers, is that the performer does not cover a song to try and out do the original singer/songwriter. The point is to pay tribute to the song and songwriter. Amy performs this much better because it is her song. Carly's performance in an objective way was good, her voice is great, and she shows passion. The problem isn't a singer performing in the same style and genre, but the fact that fans only observe them as though they are attempting to be the same. I'm a big fan of both.

She seems like she's struggleing to sing and she can't keep those high notes long enough. It's sad actually. I've got nothing against her, but if you want to make something GOOD of your voice, do it in your own -fitting- style.

I like it, this took guts! To get up on stage and sing a song that was written for a Soprano when she's a Contralto.
Granted she has great range, but this was a ballsy move of Carly, and I think she did rather well for herself, given her different vocal range.

You know I like unique bands and songs and the popularity of Idol singers are nothing like that. Some may have nice voices but they all sound the same. In addition the way to fame is ready for them cause TV makes them famous fast. I appreciate musicians who fight on their own for success. :)

She has a pretty voice... but Bring me to Life is known across the world as Amy Lee's song and no one can out sing Amy... It's the same concept as having David Cook sing one of David Draiman's songs(Like Down with the Sickness)or something... it takes decent singers and makes them sound like cheap imitations.

So, this was Ben Moody's thought process. Let's get an Amy Lee cover artist to join a band with all the Evanescence former band members and then attempt to write songs like we used to and maybe her voice can match what Amy Lee's can do. Also maybe she can write music and play the piano like Amy can. Yea. This should work out great.....
There is no replacing Amy. Her band will always be way more popular.

First off...the second Evanescence album sucked!
I'm going to give a second opinion here. Carly did a GREAT rendition of "Bring Me To Life!" I can't wait to hear We Are The Fallen! Carly is not Amy, but she is the lead vocalist of the band which is "Evanescence." I'm only judging this on what I have heard and seen on their website, and I could be very disappointed when they release their album.

but she still did a good job for what she's doing, it's nothing easy. i still love Amy Lee's the most, and this is...not the version i prefer, to say the least.
