  • I've heard Xtians say that atheists are stupid and/or hypocrites for celebrating Christmas. A girl I knew told me that her dad said it should be illegal because it's a Christian holiday and belongs to them. It reminds me of Xtians who say "marriage" belongs to them and gays should not be able to legally get married anymore than they can legally piss on a church. I explained the whole Christmas thing to her. She told her dad but he did NOT want to make it illegal for Christians to celebrate it.

  • I figured most Atheist celebrated Christmas because it was just as much a cultural holiday as much as it is a religious one. Either way, I don't care who celebrates Christmas.

  • The intent of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Christ. Do atheists observe Christmas to celebrate the birth of Christ? Still, maybe everybody should lighten up and enjoy the season, i.e. peace to those of good will.

  • @WinteRest49 Apparently you missed 3:02... The point was how the fuck does hanging stockings and singing cheerful songs highlight Jesus? Answer: it doesn't. We all celebrate on December 25th because it's fun. You'll never admit that, but we all know it's the truth. So you just look pathetic for not being honest.

  • @Buck2120 Lighten up and enjoy the season, i.e. peace to those of good will.

  • Perfect video. Perfect.

  • 3:02 is pure ownage!

  • @KingOystar Well...it was the truth! ; )

  • Great video! I love when people put a model train set around a nativity scene. You know, just like they had in ancient Jerusalem.

  • Oops! I meant Bethlehem (Jerusalem had a subway).

  • You have to be careful with the nativity set that gets pretty close to idol worship. XD

  • @MistressArte This is true! I am still waiting for imax1971 to defend his comments. I think you nailed it! I think that is why I get these sorts of comments from people like imax1971.

  • @FishHeadSalad Yes and sometimes you can really hurt your head with the amount of face palms you do because of them. It's like you don't even know your own religion those people you see as "religious nuts" are more in line with what the bible actually says. Reading the bible really helped to kill my faith, now I drink and dance on it's grave and celebrate it's death. ^__^

  • Nice video. You missed the best Christmas film ever though. Bad Santa. Hell I watch that a few times a year.

  • Jeremiah 10:2-4:

2 This is what the LORD says:

“Do not learn the ways of the nations...

    3 For the customs of the peoples are worthless;

they cut a tree out of the forest...

    4 They adorn it with silver and gold;

they fasten it with hammer and nails.

  • Jesus Freak got PWNED! Nice!

  • @Afontanez1962 well, he did ask! ; )

  • 2:01 bahahaha

  • As a Christian, I could care less what Atheists celebrate or don't celebrate. In fact I could care less what they believe or don't believe in general. This video was meant to insult people of the Christian faith. Why do Atheists have the urge to do this? What void are they trying to fill in their lives insulting people they don't know? Transposing "ignorance is bliss" on a photo of a bible is ridiculous... I'm sure I will be responded to by the most moral among you Atheists..

  • @imax1971 It's a response to a group of people who criticize atheists for celebrating christmas. You don't deserve to not be insulted, free speech and all-stop being so sensitive, you think christians aren't ever assholes?

  • @imax1971 No insult intended! The video deals with "hypocrisy". Show me the lie of the message. By the tone of your message, I must assume that U R 1 of those christians who embrace pagan and secular beliefs when it comes to celebrating the birth of your savior. Show me "Biblically" where I am in error. By the by, U may want to check out what it says in the vid at the 2:50 mark. My guess is that you are one of those people. You may also want to read, though it is OT, Jer 10:2-4

  • @imax1971 I am still waiting on a response! Not with bells on, by any means. But, I did hope you would defend your comment and belief system using scripture.

  • @FishHeadSalad Still waiting for a response? Sorry if I don't monitor youtube all day!

If your going to use idolatry to insult Christians, you should at least know what the term idolatry means. Secondly, trying this quoting from Jeremiah is weak at best. Jer 10:2-4?? Read verse 5. "Fear them not, they do no harm". Go Google it. I didn't have to, I have a bible right next to me.. Clearly you don't understand the context of the verses. Send me a PM to discuss this further.

  • @imax1971 Like I said before, no insult intended. Show just one time in the vid where I mention "idolatry"! As far a "context" that is the beauty of the bible.Everyone... christians included... use cherry picked verses that agree with what they already believe and ignore the rest. My question to you was very clear. Show me "Biblically" where I am in error with what I said in the vid. What do any of those pagan or secular things have to do with the celebration of your savior?

  • @FishHeadSalad You didn't mention idolatry in the vid. You quoted Jeremiah 10:2-4 in a comment to me. These verses are about idolatry! If you want to act like a Biblical scholar, you should at least have a basic understanding of the things you post.. With that said, I could care less if Atheists put up a Christmas tree and put Rein Deer on their lawns and wreaths on their doors.. I think that's great! My contention was "ignorance is bliss" on the photo of the Bible. PM me. Peace.

  • @imax1971 I am not by any means a bible scholar. Though I have read it cover to cover 2 times now and working on my third. Can you say as much? I agree, I do not care if atheists put up trees, rein deer, etc either. My question, once again, was very clear. Show me "Biblically" why "christians" put up the same things. What does any of that secular/pagan stuff have to do with the birth of your savior? If nothing, then why do christians embrace such practices? Simple stuff here!

  • It is common knowledge that Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Christ had Jesus as a son on December 25, 0000. Christ's birth is registered at St. Peter's Basilica. I recommend contacting the Vatican website for more information.

  • @WinteRest49 Not sure if trolling or you're actually that stupid. o.0

  • @mikerules999 I'm actually that stupid.

  • I cry foul! The odds are not 1 in 365. We have to adjust the odds for when most babies are born! Clearly 365 is just lazy statistics.

  • @mitenzouki Well the odds of being born on any day of the year typically are 1 in 365 unless you have a leap year but that's not what you're arguing against. Statistically you're more likely to be born in July if you're in England but that's purely because of time of conception. The 'lazy' comment isn't really justified considering we couldn't know the most probable time of conception at those dates.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @hildegain lazy is completely justifiable. Unwarranted perhaps as that wasn't the point of the video and I don't believe mr.fish is a mathematician though i don't know what his actual profession is. In any event I'm sure there are at least some tax records for roman births and if those don't exist we can attempt to find a general time for humans to make the sexy time to project backwards. It's fun to argue about something that we both agree on.

  • @mitenzouki Actually, my bad. When it comes to the birth of "Jesus", the odds of him being born any day of the year can drop to zero.

  • @FishHeadSalad Rofl well when you put it that way.

  • Was wondering where you'd got to. Nice to see you back with a very nicely made point.

  • @TheLivingDinosaur I didn't bugger off! This time of year is always a cluster fu*k it seems. I haven't abandoned my MSF vid, by the way, and I did receive your vid clip a while back. Thank U! I am having issues w/ statistical info as well as with MSF itself. I did feel that I needed to put this vid together quickly because that stupid reoccurring question: ".Why do atheists celebrate christmas"? needed to be answered!

I hope you had a nice holiday! Happy New Year! - J

  • Your going to ruin their life man....people cant handle the truth secular people should just sit back on a island and let the religous people kill each other and then we can inheret the world.

  • Your a pimp....love the vid!!!!

  • @mrtruthfinder1975 Hey MT1975, last time I talked to you, you said you were pretty busy. Any new original vids coming from you any time soon? I hope you enjoyed christmas and Happy New Year to you! Take care. -Salad

  • Strange don't you think, that Jesus nor his deciples made a holiday of his birth? You would think if he wanted it that way he would have commanded it some where in the gospel or that Paul or Peter would have mentioned it.

  • Reading this I just looked up and 16 cards are facing me,not one of them has a picture of jesus, angels or anything religious on them, sorry but it looks like consumerism is helping to shove jesus aside.

  • Yule.

    Look it up.

  • Really like your video!! And I celebrate Christmas in the true pagan way, decorated tree exchanging gifts, singing(ahem... off key) Christmas songs, watching the Christmas movies. Having family and friends over for day--the fun food part of the day . :)

  • Interesting!! Dec 25 is not in the bible. Well that is very intersting. And since we have so many other previous gods born on Dec. 25, it all makes sense now.

There is only one question remaining........

Why on earth in 2011 do people still believe in religions?

  • Why does someone have to be part of some religion to celebrate some holiday? I bet the folks down at Mardi Gras are not all of the same religion.

By the way, Christmas as celebrated is mostly pagan.

  • Outstanding video!

  • 0:49 "ignoratio beatitudo est" *snicker*

I saw what you did there! ;)

  • @Holammer So did I! *giggles*

  • I have to say that the entire reference to why the bible does not state DEC the 25th is a completely stupid argument, and its bordering on Creationists style stupidity.

Given that so much of the video does in fact hinge on this, so much more of the video fails because of it.

And I wanted so much to have yet more ammo against christian stupidity, but it just cannot happen.

For that, I have to say that I will have to dislike the video.

Give me one reason NOT to.

  • @FatRakoon I won't give you a reason not to thumb down this vid. Unlike almost every christian on youtube, it seems, I do not censor comments or rating. If you didn't like it, you are free to thumb down. This is an open forum here. : ). Hey, but before you do, check out a few of my other vids first. You may find the ammo you need there. Take care -Salad

  • @FishHeadSalad Such a gracious answer.

Saw a video filled with false "death-bed-convertion" quotes, the typical "witness at the deathbed said" type of quotes, about how atheists, famous ones too, convert to Christianity upon realizing they are dying, and it features Christopher Hitchens in a very mocking way. The description boks said "As always, I allow all comments as I belive in free speech"

And comments was disabled by that creationist.

Don't they belive they'd go to hell for lying?

  • @FishHeadSalad I can't find it either in Luke 2:8 like you claim in the vid. You should elaborate.

  • @osheae22 I said the bible "hints" that it JC's BDay could not have been in the middle of the winter. Let me elaborate.

Palestine is very cold in December. Shepherds were "in the fields" according to Luke 2:8. Historically, shepherds were not in the fields in the winter time. They are in the fields early in March until early October. This would place Jesus' birth in the spring or early fall.

  • @FishHeadSalad

Ok, I am glad that I didnt thumb it now.

I am not sure as to why, but I dont think that I took in the video's contents as it was presented, I might have been tired, or just mental, but I have now watched it a second time and I have seen it under a new light and I agree with the video.

So, I appoloigise for posting the original post, but I wont retract from it, I said it and so thats done, but I am sure glad that I didnt thumb it down.

    Take care.

  • @FatRakoon

I'm confused as to what you complaint actually is. His video doesn't hinge on any such thing. He merely pointed out that we have no reason to believe that Christ's birth was on Dec 25th. Given that this is totally true, I fail to see how it is "Bordering on Creationists style stupidity."

In reality, the whole video "Hinges" the notion that Christians are hypocrites for celebrating one of their most sacred days in a manner that is totally inappropriate, and actually quite secular

  • @ChainX

Yes ok, I have watched the video twice now... Im thinking that I may be getting confused - thats why I never gave it any rating, I only hinted on it.

I am not going to explain why I am gettign confused but I was and now I am not so much.

I enjoyed the video the second time round.

  • @FatRakoon I think I understand what you're saying FR, but I think you're stopping short on the argument. Not sure, though, hear me out: The arg. of Dec. 25th is irrelevant because, it seems, that the "when" question of the Christ's birth is always answered as irrelevant. If you ask "why" you start to answer and destroy the Christian argument. Why is it celebrated on... You can then start to dissect the Gospels and their contradictions, start to discuss the timeline and how absurd xmas is.

  • @LoK3y

I was seemingly only taking in half of the video and therefore, I was getting myself confused as to what the video was actually trying to say.

I have now watched the video a second time and I have filled in my mental gaps and I see now what the video is about.

  • @FatRakoon It's not anywhere near creationist-level stupidity.

  • @eggertstwart

    Accepted

  • Excellent video that makes a great point Christians no doubt won't want to hear.. Interesting, atheists don't actually have a common thread of belief amongst themselves as do Christians or Muslims. We don't have a code, creed or system of rituals anyone can point to & say 'ah ha! THAT'S atheistic!'.

I don't find myself attracted to other atheists at all unless they make sense. So, I've decided now to refer to myself as 'non-denominational'. I don't belong to any of them on this planet.

  • @LordSauceness OOOHHH that is SAUCEY!!!!!

  • Maybe christmas should be renamed as "Shopmuch" :)

  • @Ed19814 that's not funny.

  • I loved this video, so glad someone finally decided to make something like this, it's perfect for this season. Now I'm gonna post it everywhere, thanks!

  • On christmas eve my facebook feed was flooded with crap about CHRISTmas and Jesus' birthday being the real reason for the season. On Christmas morning all the same people totally changed their tune. All the posts were about who got an xbox or whatever gifts for christmas.

  • @TheFaithCheck Yeah, that's about right! What's that word? Oh yeah...."hypocrite"! Funny how that DDOJ went to DDO...me...me...me over night!

  • Keep the christ in christmas? Honestly, i don't give a fuck either way. But the fact that it is in there in the first place is a fraud. ^^

Here it's still called Jul. As in Yule. Celebrated at the same time, with the same traditions. (since, you know, they are all pagan. Not christian.) Infact, frankly i'm offended that christians don't drop to their knees and praise Odin in the most glorious of seasons.

How dare you calebrate christmas christians? Hypocrites.

  • I was raised christian, but as an atheist I celebrate the same things now, that I celebrated during christmas then.

The gathering of family... sharing the comfort and hospitality of a home that represents a conquest over the environment and safety from weather so cold that it's hostile to life.

Good food, good drink, good company... and if jesus shows up at the door, then he's welcome too, I'm just not going to hold my breath any more without a damned good reason.

  • Finally no more blasted X-Mas music! I hate that crap every dammed year!

  • The term 'Atheist' should be banned because it gives the theists a reason to call me Pol Pot and Stalin. I'm a Humanist, and I believe in you and I Love you.

  • @LEONJERSEY

Atheist is a term given to people who lack belief in deity. And this is regardless of their other views. Want to call yourself Skeptic, Naturalist or Humanist, then go ahead.

  • @LEONJERSEY Pol Pot and Stalin's atheism affected their thinking and morality as much as their state of non-engineerism did. See my point? Sure, you're a non-engineer, and so are most cruel dictators; but that does not have any implications on your morality. Atheism only means you do not believe in a supernatural deity; no consequences on morality there.

  • @LEONJERSEY Yeah, but then they would then just call Stalin and Pol Pot Humanists as well. As long as you do not believe in their version of their god, they will always try to throw you in the same pot as Stalin and Pol Pot no matter what you call yourself. It is just their modus operandi unfortunately.

  • @FishHeadSalad - No matter what you call them, attempting to assert guilt by association doesn't work. These monsters did what they did for reasons other than their lack of belief.

  • @Christheatheist1 Absolutely! I agree with you 100%! I know guilt by association doesn't work, but damn if they don't keep trying! In fundy land, it is a valid argument that only fundies agree with.

  • I'm an atheist but I love presents! Merry Christmas! Ftw

  • Pagans!!!

  • I celebrate the solstice. In fact all the pagan festivals (stolen or not), I find them beautiful for the meanings in them.

  • the church stole the winter solstice from other religions.

  • @naturalistmind

    Exactly...

Christians should end the War on Winter Solstice.

  • @NKA23 agnostic atheist?... I was thinking about all this a lot this year while celebrating with my family members and after my rant about how none of this shit makes any sense historically or religiously i ended up embracing the chance to spend time with my family and enjoyed it.

  • I´m an agnostic atheist and I don´t celebrate xmas anymore, but I do like to have a really good dinner on xmas eve.

  • Every year, I celebrate AFTER December 25th, because I know I won't have to put up with all the Christmas crap until it starts up again next year...

  • @bushputz Yeah...Dec 26 is my exhale day! I hear ya!

  • great video its also cool Atheists never have to disable ratings and comments on their videos like a lot of "the cool" "knowledgeable" christians

  • @wideosvatcher Yeah, I plan on addressing that. I will make no difference though.

check out this vid I made here: watch?v=LXJmCsrk3z4

At the 10:08 mark ...look at the right side of the screen. I think that kind of sums it up!

  • Well I don't add many to my favorites list but this one is a shoe-in. Well done FHS!!!

  • @warren52nz I will take that as a compliment! Thanx w52

  • on christmas day, i celebrate the birth of sir isaac newton

  • Where's the 'LOVE' button? WHERE IS IT!?!?!?!? They need a "LOVE" button. It's a "favorite" but "like" just doesn't express my sentiments toward this! THANKS! Oh NO! You said "PAGAN" (GASP!!!!) LMAO. It always makes me LMAO that some Christians are SO dedicated to "the Lord", but haven't even read his best-seller! They haven't done any research. They just like to BITCH. I, on the other hand (not that I'm perfect, or anything close to it), have done mine, and continue to do so. LOVE this video!

  • @eajoseph217 Thank you for the compliment/comment! And, like you, and unlike almost every christian...I do read the bible! Not just the verses that give me the warm and fuzzies. Cover to cover. Working on my third round through it now. Knowledge is power and ignorance is bliss. As a matter of fact, if you look close at the bible in the vid you will see at the bottom it says ""ignoratio beatitudo est"...it is Latin for "ignorance is bliss".

  • @FishHeadSalad Hey - That compliment was very well-deserved! I stuck a typical warning label on my Bible.. In 'safety orange', haha. I'm gonna have to brush up on my Latin. That's too cool. I'm still working on my first round of tthe 734 page book (I'm reading Dawkins and Harris and another book called "Satisfaction Guaranteed" about American marketing through the ages... I never claimed to be "normal", hehe). I always think it'd be funny to see, at a baptism or wedding, someone..

  • @FishHeadSalad (ran out of room, of course)... I'd like to see them read from Exodus or Leviticus. THAT would be AMUSING!!! It would also show "god's" true colors, IMO ;)

  • @eajoseph217 I always challenge christians to read the old testament (they never do)...but if they choose to do so....to ALWAYS replace the word/name/title "God" with "Jesus". After all, they are the same being. It gives one a whole different perception/perspective of Jesus as he butchers, burns, and drowns millions of people throughout the old testament. Nice work on the keyboards, by the way.

  • that goblin image u used is from the monster manual 1 from d&d 3.5. you made my day good sir just from that, thank you :D

  • @TheAnimeAtheist Well, it was by chance...but...any time! ; )

  • Happy unholydays to you too !

  • @AuntieDiluvian Hey Roz, Hope all is well down under! And happy unholydays to you too! : P

  • Not hypocrites, just ignorant.

  • @brmadman4455 I do not know if you looked closely at the Bible I used in the vid. It is an image I made. And at the bottom it says "ignoratio beatitudo est"...it is Latin for "ignorance is bliss". I agree with you 100 percent! ; )

  • @FishHeadSalad Yes it is lol! Btw, love the channel!

  • Great video good oints

  • Blasphemy!!! hehe. I loved the analogy about not believing in leprechauns or goblins but you still celebrate St. Patrick's and Halloween. It seems no matter what they do, Christians cannot avoid hypocrisy. It must be really tiring, constantly having your beliefs butting heads with reality. Great video! I hope you had a great holiday. :)

  • @DiscoveringReligion I need to PM you. I have been meaning to do so. But, here in the comment section I can say that I did "somehow" leave out of this vid my whole take on these colors...red, green, white, gold and silver that always seem to "magically pop up" in every "christians'" home this time of year! Believers create god in their own image and from their traditions and warm and fuzzies. Why are they the only ones who do not see this!?!

  • Don't forget about Jeremiah 10. Many Xtians will say it's about making idols as graven imags, as if it is about how much whittling you can do. They ignore the greater context about not adopting pagan practices.

  • @8WholeThing Ahh my little buddy Jeremiah! I made a whole vid based on J 29:11.

To me the bible is like a snickers bar. No mater how you cut it...it comes up peanuts!

  • I was one of those angry fundamentalist right-wing Christians on the front lines of the "war on Christmas."

While Christmas shopping I would get all up in arms if I heard "happy holidays" from the cashier. I would often respond in an adamant tone of voice, "MERRY CHRISTMAS!".... as if admonishing the person publicly.

Looking back I'm embarrassed. Nice vid!

  • @HellRehab Hey HR, I haven't heard from you in a while! : ) There is a reason I made that frame at the 2:51 point in the vid. I was on the opposite end of the stick....in my youth working retail... and I wished someone a "Merry Christmas". Her response...in a very angry way, I must add, was....I am Jewish! Ever since then, it has been "happy holidays"!

  • @FishHeadSalad I say 'happy holidays' because, as with 'new tradition', IDK what strangers celebrate, and of COURSE, we all want to be "PC", so yep. "Happy holidays" it is! They should be effing ecstatic we wish them ANYTHING!

  • reindeer on sweaters are the strongest argument i know for the death penalty

  • we ce!ebrate all the gods born of virgins arround the winter solctice, who performed miracles like healing the blind, walking on water etc.. who also died or were crucified and rose again that magical three dyas later! Only problem is there are quite a few of them??.. so we just get naked, drunk, and rub ourselves with duckfat and run around a fire chanting like good Pagans do. Happy HORUS to one an all!

  • Nice vid!

  • @4:00 Love the graphic.

  • I really do wish that these types of Christians back off and learn to celebrate the holiday again. Enough with thinking people are waging war on it. Do they really think Jesus would be pissed if someone offered him a Merry Christmas instead of a Happy Birthday?

  • My only wish for this holiday season would be that all the buybull thumpers would watch this vid.

  • The way we celebrate Christmas in Western countries has indeed much more to do with Germanic pagan winter solstice celebrations, Yule, than anything else. That or I am highly unaware of the widespread existence of mistletoe and conifers in ancient Judea.

  • @Wotanraven

    How about mushrooms?

Christianity was adopted as the state religion by Emperor Constantine after he had 'a vision' and through the council of Nicea the historical Jesus was born. Every bit of text that could debunk 'the historical Jesus' was banned. Eventually it tore up the empire and split in two. In the Eastern empire Jesus wears the colors of the psylocybin mushroom, in the Western empire he wears the colors of the amanita.

The amanita grows under the christmas tree

  • @Wotanraven

Or how about Cannabis (Keneh Bosm) which was the main ingredient of the anointed oil? watch?v=dz8oc2tJ1GU

Or the Acacia tree, the wood the ark of covenant was made of. The acacia tree, also known as the Egyptian tree of life, contains DMT and the bark of the tree can be smoked. Good for a 10-15 minute trip in 'eternity'... I know they grow in the sinai...

In my opinion the roots of christianity is not different from any other religion: hallucinatory practices...

  • That is great stuff.

  • As an Atheist I celebrate Christmas for the food and free beer at parties. Is that low??? its beats what Santa gets. Free Milk and cookies, yeah that gets old real quick folks.

  • Kick ass stereo narrative voice!! Sound great.

  • @rich2rock ah you caught that! I just wanted to try something a little different.

  • @FishHeadSalad you should do it all the time, it kicks ass. how did you do it?

  • @rich2rock I don't want to sound like a silly Billy here...but...do what? What are you referring to? ; )

  • I have a neighbor that has had the Nativity scene on his lawn for the last 6 yrs. He owns an auto shop and has an open bible on the counter, model of the 10 commandments in the waiting room, pamphlets to revivals on the wall. This yr, he put up a 16ft inflatable snowman and tree with Santa popping out, lights abound as well. I guess he's turning pagan on us. Just waiting for him to vandalize my car with a Darwin fish and FSM emblems on the bumper.

I immediately thought of him when I saw this.

  • @saxmanchiro You should ask him...."what do snowmen and santa have to do with the birth of Christ?" I am sure he would get pissed because what he is really doing is selling out his god to marketing so he can make some better cash. But I am sure he would deny that! What is that word?...That's it..."hypocrite"! ; )

  • @FishHeadSalad I'm surprised he doesn't drive a panel van with a crucifix on the side, using his Xtianity to sell his business. "Come to me, you can trust me, I am a man of God and will never rip you off." I actually went to his shop to get some tire prices. He was 25% more than the lowest bid!! I guess he charges extra for that free bible verse from his open bible on the counter. Just fucking wow.

  • @saxmanchiro Unfortunately, that whole "he is a christian, so I trust him" thing works all the time! Great marketing/snake oil tool! But it does work! Look at Benny Hinn, Paul Crouch, Pat Robertson, and all of the other "big" players! They understand marketing, they understand human desires. I have to give them credit for their ability to milk people out of their money and have no conciseness about doing so. Sometimes, I wish I could be that hardened to my fellow man/woman.

  • You pagan bastich!! Hey, happy holidays, dude.

  • @bobsmeerfak Back at ya you bitchard! ; )

  • @bobsmeerfak Loved your last vid by the way!
