  • OMG That's so creepy! Sounds like a woman singing...

  • SOUNDS HAWAIIAN DOESNT IT.

  • Duet with an opera singer the sounds have similar voicing :-)

  • What is this tune? I remember it, but can't place it. Maybe a theme, perhaps an Ennio Morricone piece?

  • @skankystupidbitch Walking In the Air, from "The Snowman"

  • haha this is so funny!!! i want to try it!

  • Of course, taking something that isn't an instrument and turning into one is just wrong. Creativity like that should be banned. I agree. (No sarcasm, really.)

  • at least part of this sounds exactly like that one animated snow man movie that had no dialogue

  • A musical saw was heard on the 1976-77 Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour theme song

  • this sounds bizarre like theremin. fits perfect in ed wood's b horror movies.. :)

  • i love how the saw ties in with supertramp's "Hide In Your Shell", you can hear it in the background, very cool

  • i love musical saws.

the ethereal is just so cool.

  • @w00ty32 Fag. Stop quoting wikipedia.

  • the band neutral milk hotel has had the saw recorded in a ton of songs

  • Hell yeah they do! So do the music tapes, and other various e6 bands.

  • its deffinatly a unique sound. its pretty cool. i want to play one now

  • Sounds kind of like a theremin

  • the saw as a instrument wont have many success. its too slow and very difficult to hit the tones correctly.

  • I think it is quite unique, I really think it should become a real instrument and not be just a saw. But actually make it look like an instrument and maybe (if possible) make lil dots, lines something on the saw so you know what the notes are :)

  • It would be nice if the notes could be marked somehow, but you wouldn't be able to do it with inlays or anything like that because the pitch has to do with how much the saw is bent. Searching for just the right pitch is kindof a characteristic of the saw anyway though. It makes it sounds spooky :o

  • austin blackburn is professional at this he is just amazing!

  • Why is this spam?! Stupid.

  • no, violin is much nicer. this thing doesn't sound human, haha.

  • the reason it doesn't sound human is because its not human ...its a saw lol

  • whether this is not HUman sounds BUT BUT it can signal alien or UFO bla bla bla to came back to earth LOL

  • Yeah! Let's compare an instrument to a cutting tool which just happens to have musical use! It makes perfect sense!

  • If you want to see a saw incorporated well into music check out a video of "sgt dunbar and the hobo banned."

  • I seriously do not like that thing after listening to 3 other musical saw vids. Makes my doggy bark, and hurts my ears...

  • most amazing musical instrument...ever...

  • Wow...i want one.

  • The Theremin wishes it was this cool

  • I don't know, it's a close one but I think the saw takes it on novelty value.

  • I agree, the Theremin IS pretty sweet though.

  • that is so awesome it sounds like a ghost or something lol

  • The song was from a short film called The Snowman, and the original was performed by Peter Auty I believe... later covered by David Bowie and the wonderful Nightwish :)

  • thats amazing

  • Wow, I know this song. It's Walking In The Air, but I don't know who did the original song. I know Nightwish did a cover of it, though.

  • "the yorkshire saw player" lol

shows that we have only the best weirdo's over here lol

    amazing

    4*

  • MisterKp - it's Walking in the Air.

  • Can someone tell me which song does he play ?

I just can't remember which one it is.

  • Thats awesome. It sounds like a theremin.

  • @BlueCollarTweeker I said the same thing on another vid!!! If you ask me, it sounds like a theremin with the brightness turned down a lot.

  • @BlueCollarTweeker i found this after hours of clicking related theremin videos

  • Sounds at once both sad yet soothing, alot like the old single-jet hydraulophones (extremely difficult to play, though).

  • how is it possible the saw sounds like that without a hollow body? then why does violin still exist? ;p

  • The saw is effectively like a string. If it had a sound board, like a violin, I'm sure it would be much louder. Checkout playthesaw(dot)co(dot)uk

    Best wishes

  • Unfortunately the range of pitches on a musical saw is very limited

I think it's only capable of two octaves.

  • The range is about 2 and half octaves usually... but for the adventerous there are some extra notes available by using the harmonics, but these notes tend to be a little hit & miss

  • Sounds like a theremin.

  • Nice one.

  • Nice, nice! Good job

  • beautiful!
