  • Really enjoyed your video with Mike catching mink, muskrat before school. Wish all kids would love to learn its also survival. Thats why i took the course, i can survive in the bush, trap beaver and eat beaver, tastes like roast beef. lol sharon

  • Well done guys, it's a shame it's forbidden in Holland.. I'm learning some skills from an old gamekeeper now, before the knowledge is lost. It's a real skill, be proud of it boy!!

  • @TheBuitenman heck man if you wanna learn how to trap we teach it often here in canada heck even trap line tours are popular.

  • why u catch them death?for what u catch death alive is not ?

  • Nice

  • Very cool - I have 5 Volumes of me and my kids trapping here in Iowa

  • Good Catch young man! I hope to raise my son and daughter with that same lifestyle.

  • ya its a mink i got one on the scond day its not that hard

  • @Trapper4Rabe2015 were you ten years old when you caught your first one in four days??? good job kid!!!

  • Do yall live in ms.

  • i have a muskrat in my pond. i want to get rid of it cuase the dens are making the pond stay low. i cant use conibears because of dogs but what other sets would you reccomend?

  • @BEAVERTRAPPER46

    i was thinking colony traps?

  • @MrSummersj

Hey you should use a number 1 or number 11 and set up a drowning rig. A dog shouldn't be able to get into the trap.

  • @mrbigtrapper14 ok .. got to do it quick my trapping season here in kansas is in 8 days. when is yours starting?

  • @MrSummersj

It has already but not to much succses.

  • @mrbigtrapper14 i got 1 coon so far

  • @MrSummersj

Yeah I have caught 5 muskrats in the same culvert. One of which broke my 110. And how is the muskrats doing?

  • @mrbigtrapper14 for me not to good cause i cant seem to catch them

  • @MrSummersj

That is ok some times it takes awhile.

  • @mrbigtrapper14 hopefully not to much longer cause i am tired of waiting haha

  • Glad to see your young man out in the woods instead of hooked to the X-Box. Boy there was on proud young man.I wish more people would take their kids hunting, trapping and fishing. Thanks for sharing.

  • i remember my first mink... it stunk like no other

  • awesome!

  • hmm...ok but why trap a beaver? i dont see the point in that... unless thier dams were blocking the riverflow. but if its for no reason i wouldnt do that. >:l

  • @horseluver728 Beaver populations are naturally controlled by starvation and disease. They will only go a certain distance from water to get food. Then they either move or starve. You can see what happens if we get too many. No where to move to. By selectively taking a few out we can avoid that. Traps are quite humane and the most popular version kills almost instantly. Also Beaver pelts are used to make the highest grade of felt. And are used to make items like high end Western hats.

  • @horseluver728 they taste pretty good if cooked right, and besides food, their pelt prices put money into peoples pockets. and yes an animal dies when we trap, but we HARVEST these animals. we do not kill them merely for sport. many provide a food source and their pelts and furs help put money into peoples pockets. look at some of the other trapping videos, and the two i have. maybe itll change your mind

  • how do u get ur pan on ur trap 2 lay perfectly flat

  • @MegaGrandslam

feel free to ask any questions, but to prevent a muskrat from chewing there foor off, maybe purchase some stoploss, or maybe even110 conibears depending on the cituation

  • me too ; )

  • hey im 13 and i trap and i need alot of advice i caught a 'rat but it bit its foot off any advice

  • @MegaGrandslam If you can afford to, buy some #110 conibears or some Stop-loss or guard type traps. They are specifically designed to prevent that. If you cant do that. Anchor your trap out in deeper water and keep the trap itself away from anything it can get caught in, in shallow water.

  • @MegaGrandslam i am 15 and i have found out the the best muskrat trap is the trusty 110 conibear it kills the instantly

  • i have that same stocking cap that the kids wearing

  • Holy cow, it's a talking beaver LOL. Looks like a nice set up. That boys destined for success, brings back memories.....check traps before school and head to the deer blind right after. Awesome!

  • Awesome thank you Ct. That is good eating size beaver those 2 year beaver are great eating taste like beef. That my beaver lure too?

  • Ya Bruce, thats your beaver lure, works great, I put a cottonwood stick with it as well for a visual attractent. Thanks You!

  • Nice video, fellas. Loke to see those kids getting out and doing things. It takes effort to get up and trap before school!

  • How about a pretty good time with Dad, too Michael.

  • Great video Jimmy!

  • Thanks Rock, remember when I told you I was going to make one trapping video at the end of the season? Well I just dumped this stuff on the other channel untill I need it, its not a real video yet. The kid wanted to get something up.

  • It's real good, and interesting. I am on Bruce's sit right now.

  • Interesting stuff. If I didn't know better,I'd say Micheal would rather stay out there trapping than go to school!! Thanks Jim. How did you get that beaver to talk there at the end?

  • Well Ken, to tell you the truth I have always had a way with beaver, at least before I got married, since then my skills do not seam to bring the big rewards. That kid would rather fill his waders with ice water then go to school!
