  • @bloc22 won't get fooled again at the start right? :)

  • ahh, i gotta have one!

  • Great playing mate, and good demo too. There aren't too many straightforward demos of the baja around so it's appreciated.

  • @scaredypicker - thanks, sadly i flogged it. cracking guitar

  • that's one nice rich colorfull tone. I like it.

  • Good review. Did you play the guitar with its volume on full? I own a Baja and it sounds a bit harsh and shrill on full volume, so would welcome some tips if you have any... Thanks

  • @tremolo73 possibly the pre gain on your amp is too high? i personally don't know, just guessing :P

  • very nice guitar ! my friend YOHan who plays in the famous band "MTG"has the same

    the sound is awesome

  • ah the who :D

  • oh please sod off ....

  • Bah-Ha....as in Baja, Mexico. NOT Bah-Jah !!

  • So I clicked on this video, heard you say "Right" with an English sort of accent, then skipped the slider ahead a bit to the crashing chords @24 seconds in... and thought for a moment "Wait, is Pete Townshend reviewing this thing?!" Nice review, thanks.

  • Great review. Thank you.

  • what about the sustain ? please :)

  • How it's the neck on this guitar, is it fat?

  • Whats the song that he plays at 3:59 onwards?

  • Bah-ha Tele.

  • which amp did you use in this vid??

  • Yes Indeed!

I like the way you assault those strings.

    Nice sound.

  • hey matt, i'm considering buying one of this. do you think is a good purchase for the price? i love your tone in this vid in every single pickup position you play! awesome work! what's the amp you're using? thanks and sorry my english, i haven't practice it lately...Benni

  • @bernardoseabra yep - great purchase, great pickups too. I was using a zinky amp.

  • @mattacjones thank you for the reply. i notice in the description you say through the old zinky, but i didn't know those amps hence my question. thank you very much and congrats for your playing skills and your baja tele + zinky tone! both are great ;) Cheers

  • the baja is a made in mex job (custom shop design)

  • @mattacjones

Indeed, made in Mexico by Mexicans - rather than made in California by Mexicans! Wonderful guitar, I wouldn't part with mine.

  • nice one its mexican or american?

  • ah man u can play im jealous lol love ur who cover at the start

  • i just fell in love with this guitar and i play a sg and ajackson king v

  • Very nice tone and playing, I've just bought one myself.

  • An outstanding demo--Mr, Jones does a fine job of showing the variety of tones this Tele can produce.

Furthermore, we don't get the "Look Ma, no hands," lick or shred that ruin many demos--Jones is a seasoned player and knows how to bring out the best in this Tele.

  • @absurdplanet - well, thank you very much! Nicest comment I've received in a long while!

  • bought one yesterday for €599 in x-music in Dublin

  • i bought it for 470 2nd hand in perfect nick!its unreal! ive played gibson sgs to dean mls and the baja is so much nicer!the tone of that twisted tele is unreal! i love it!

  • is it worth paying 500 euro for?

  • Got to be your choice. " custom shop pickups on it. I like it. The new classic player tele's look good too, but more expensive. These are GOOD and compared to US models, very comeptitve.

  • can i get it cheaper anywhere else do you think?

  • Yes they are normally 600 euro's

  • I Think it is worth much more than 600€- because of those great pickups!!!

  • how much is it?

  • PERFECT Who tone!

  • is that cant you see by marshall tucker! man i love ya and yer guitar! planning gettin 1 soon, great review

  • Hi, excellent demo, but I have a question about the finish, i'm buying a Baja like that, but i've seen pictures where the finish is almost transparent, but it says it's blonde (like the one you have)...

If it says blonde, will it be the color that is shown in this video?

  • Not sure what mine is. the scratchplate is either black or white depending in whether you have blonde or desert sand. you can see wood grain thru mine. not transparaent as such, but not a solid colour

  • Excellent playing and demo, ignore the idiots banging on about the pronunciation of baja, the clearly cant play for shit themselves so have to find something to pick at to make themselves feel better.

  • Thanks .... The more attentive listener might note at the start, I use both pronunciations. I am considering a lengthy monologue where I use the word baja 100's of times, all of them wrong. But then I can't really be arsed to do so!

  • my god you have big hands.. like yours truly :D awesome guitar, awesome playing

  • excuse me but , its a good guitar for hard rock metal , i know its a guitar for blues but i want to play with this guitar and i adores metal well ... answer me please

  • good for everything imho

  • Jim Root telecaster

  • its pronouced BAH-HAA

  • please see earlier response to the other linguistic fetishist, it's the one that ends in OFF. That's pronounced OFF. I couldn't give a flying fuck how you say it.

  • hey man! nice rendition of black magic woman

  • you say it ba-ha fucking hell

its a place and a race

  • oh fuck off, pedant

  • @bmxmtbvids You don't even get close to what it's pronounced in Spanish when you use the english "h" in "ba-ha".

  • Oh my god I never knew Malcolm McDowell plays Teles! Just joking, great guitar!

  • I'm getting this awesome guitar!

  • o_o !!

  • Great playing, ordinary tone. Get rid of those stock pups, get a set of Brierleys.

  • Thanks but the tone's pretty darn good, definitely not ordinary, partic in real life. The point is these are custom shop pups on a mid budget guitar. Obviously you can always spend more to get an improvment (beauty is in the eye of the beholder etc) for for the price, ready to go, this a fantastic bit of kit.

  • wont get fooled again!!???

  • man ive got my vox ac30 now all i need is a nice guitar to go with it

    think ive found it

  • this guitar is the perfect match for the AC30

  • Great demo. Custom shop pickups, many sound combos, ash body... Fender got it right with this one. At GC I tried this out vs the USA Deluxe Tele. Baja won hands down.

  • I'm gonna get my own Tele Baha anyday at mail..I cant wait that great sounding beauty queen...

  • i use this guitar. i honestly feel that i'll never need another guitar again.

  • man i love the tone on this guitar im in love!!! im currently selling my joe strummer tele for it

  • sounds like a good set up for starters. the vox is supposed to be pretty good tone wise. all i can guess is you maybe overdoing the distortion which is going to cover up mistakes but really, the best thing is to get it right playing clean tones, then add just a bit of distortion. There's very little distortion on that demo, just volume. good luck

  • Thanks for the demo i have just started playing got a vox adv30 amp and bought a tele deluxe with three tex mex pups? made in mexico doesnt sound like this guitar bearing in mind im only a four chord wonder is it the amp or guitar dont know which way to go. Regards Chris.

  • hi. nice video.

question: what kind of amp is the zinky?

  • Phenomenal demo! Very nice work. I am trying to make my mind between a Telecaster and a Stratocaster and I am more and more sure that the Tele Classic player baja will be the one I will buy. The sound of this guitar is amazing! The only thing I am unsure is the bridge as I have heard that the 3-saddle bridge cannot be tuned as good as a 6-saddle one. How true is that? How were you satisfied with the guitar's string setup out of the box? Thanx for your answer.

  • Intonation was good out of the box but it is more difficult to adjust with 3 piece saddles - but you only do that maybe once every 3 years! Key difference here is the neck, very different from the strat. Also, the baja has very versatile range of pickup tones/combinations (all custom shop pups) whereas the strat is more limited. For the money, I'd go baja, but I already have 2 other strats!

  • Hi, nice video's. Which amp is your favourite? Zinky or the Jake?

    Cheers

    Steve

  • Hi - tough one. if you look at my other vids, there's one where I am running through the rivera fatures and sounds trying to convince myself whether to change it for another or not. At the end I decided I was mad - it is superb ..... but, the zinky has blown me away totally and i have come to the conclusion they are both superb, so i have both! oh dear .... the zinky has a few advantages-it has very good low volume performance (i use an attenuator with the rivera) and, it's about 20lbs lighter.

  • nice!

does the neck have a finish like the '52 reissues? what shape is the back of the neck?

    what's you amp setup?

  • neck's finished in poly but you can take the shine off with wire wool. Its quite a thick neck, nice tho - see fender site for specs. amp's low gain about 10 o'clock, all volumes low (great low vol performance from the zinky)

  • What's the boogie riff ?

  • Wow, man you rock! xD Really pretty nice Tele!

  • is that the blonde or the desert sand? i cant really see any grain so i cant tell.

  • Blonde got black pickguard, and desert sand got white one.

  • It's a tele, so it's good for all things. Not any noisier than any other single pole pickup'd guitar.

  • Wow! A really lovely guitar, lovely sound. Thanks for this vid! Is it noisey with some overdrive on the tone?

  • Awesome sound :) is it able to play genres like metal/punk and so on? you know the more heavy genres..:)
