I was there, and I did not gain an "excellent impression" of the Chinese supporters. Rather I felt the behaviour was at times bordering on hysteria and was a bit out of control.
I was there when the Torch Bear number 51 commented how supportive the Chinese people are of the Olympic Torch and an Australian policeman agreed and said that the Chinese was a nice group. It was the pro-Tibetans who went out of control and threw themselves and sat themselves over the fence and got arrested. They deserved it.
Well I believe most Chinese people were there t show their pride in their culture and heritage, majorty of people were well behaved, I just don't agree with some of the agressive bullying, for example: Chinese flags used to beat up pro-tibet people.

No. People do have the right to express otherwise. We don't mind if they just talked. But don't affect the Olympic Torch the torch belongs to you, belongs to me and belongs to the world. They don't have the right to use the Olympics as a way to express themselves, coz it doesn't embarrase the Chinese at all, it just embarasses the pro-Tibetans and the countries that didn't protect the Olympic Torch well. And certainly the Australian Police did a fantastic job at protecting the Torch

I dont know why the US kill innocent Iraqi's. I was in fact in attendance in the biggest protest ever rallied in Sydney (I AM NOT AMERICAN) To try to stop our then prime minister (John Howard)from sending our troops to Iraq. I can tell you that most Australian don't support the war in Iraq, or any war for that matter!

The Chinese people is also against war, against violence, that's why we protested against the extreme Tibetans who killed innocent Chinese people in Tibet during their violent protest. And that's the reason why Chinese police were there to stop the riot, then the western media accused the Chinese gov for oppression.

Tibet belongs to China, just like NSW belongs to Australia. If you say that Australians should not entry NSW coz it only belongs to the NSW ppl, then you must have some serious mental disorder.

The Australian police were fantastic!!! They were very professional in handling every unrest situation. Thumbs up for them. The Chinese were cheering for the policmen and policwomen as they went pass.

Most Australians are not pro-Tibet supporters! Rather the opposite!
Today the pro-Tibetans shows how disgraceful they were and continue to be, whereas for the Chinese, we've made an excellent impression to the Australian people!

For your information, I WAS there! I was standing at leg 51 and i heard torch bearer saying to the police how supportive and peacful we are. The policeman replied saying we're a very nice bunch. I think the police would know more than you, coz he's there the whole way! It was the pro-Tibetans who got arrested. Coz they're just too bumb to understand that who ever goes over the fence will get arrested. They deserves it

I'm sure you were there as part of the bussed in Chinese contingent, who shouted down, kicked, punched and spat on the people that were referred to as "the scum of the nation" in organizing emails for the so-called "torch defenders".

to billk61: we did, and we realised how united the Chinese were around the world. We want to show our support to China, our country and we're proud to be Chinese. There's nothing wrong with that!

Also be proud of China's struggles against those who have occupied it in the past.
However, you must understand that the Tibetan people do not feel Chinese and do not feel they can live decent lives being ruled from Beijing. If China gives Tibet proper autonomy, both China and Tibet will be able to feel proud.

freeskyz, as I wrote in the previous post you should be proud to be Chinese. The question of unity though is telling, however. The Tibetans clearly do not feel part of the unity you write about. Perhaps that is a tacit admission by you that the Tibetans are not Chinese. Or it means that there is much to be done before Tibetans can truly be made part of the Chinese family. Please understand that true unity cannot come from violent repression of dissent and destruction of minority cultures.

I was there, and I did not gain an "excellent impression" of the Chinese supporters. Rather I felt the behaviour was at times bordering on hysteria and was a bit out of control.

I was there when the Torch Bear number 51 commented how supportive the Chinese people are of the Olympic Torch and an Australian policeman agreed and said that the Chinese was a nice group. It was the pro-Tibetans who went out of control and threw themselves and sat themselves over the fence and got arrested. They deserved it.

Well I believe most Chinese people were there t show their pride in their culture and heritage, majorty of people were well behaved, I just don't agree with some of the agressive bullying, for example: Chinese flags used to beat up pro-tibet people.

But now - thanks to CCP's most outrageous media statements, and CCP clone's violence at the relay - trying to silence free-Tibet protests - due to mostly those factors, now it is hard to find much sympathy for CCP amongs ordinary Australians.
Torch relay has helped Free-Tibet movement immensly!
Australians will always support the underdog.
