  • i am hungry!!! T.T

  • yes, you made me hungry watching you cooking! :-)

  • I'm going to pan fry my tofu for kicks. I like tofu even by itself, so without a sauce or even with just soy sauce I'd probably love this. But I usually buy extra firm tofu instead of firm, will it make a difference?

  • I would rather fry or heat the garlic first, raw garlic makes me cry. Looks nice though, although a bit greasy.

  • i am drooling... gonna make some now...

  • thanks for sharing. it looks good and by the way those two tofo dishes are very common homey food among some asian countries like japan, china, taiwan and korean of course.

  • so beautiful.. Now Im hungry... thank you for making these videos

  • this is awesome!!!! and looks so delicious

  • Do you think for the first side dish, deep frying the tofu would be alright? I don't know much about tofu, but would this mess it up at all?

  • You're so brilliant! It's so delicious. I used red pepper paste instead of powder. :D

Thank you for this video. Thank's ajuhma :D

  • i just made both of them and they are delicious. i love the sauce as well. thank you for this recipe :)

  • Im half korean and I cant make alot of korean so this is a great video Ty so much!

  • looks delicious, and healthy!!

  • I am so hungry now I can't wait to try the recipes. Thank you

  • I made this today and it was delicious! The sauce was just right and tasted great. Thank you Maangchi for another great recipe!

  • Great choice of music ... Credence Clearwater Revival.

  • This tofu sidedish is realy good! My bf loves this too and he's usually hates tofu and is picky with korean food. I even like to put this in my bibimbap and mix it together with everything else and put less rice instead. It's soooooooooo delicious.

  • @cvkim Thank you for your update. Yes, the sauce yangnyeomjang is delicious. Happy cooking!

  • Love this recipe, but where's the "coming soon" recipe for "buchu kimchi"?????

  • The tofu looks so good! At the Korean restaurant we go to here in Anchorage, AK, they make a tofu side dish that is served with the different kimchi dishes. It is really delicious. I am guessing that the tofu is marinated in salt water or perhaps just sprinkled with salt and left to sit. It is then pan fried as you showed with your dishes and garnished with a little green onion. It is crispy on the outside and mildly salty and creamy on the inside. Do you know this dish? Can you teach it? Thanks

  • I love your measuring tools!

  • One thing, about you...You are very nice...but, most of all...You are an excellent cook...I'm half Korean so I kinda know about Korean cooking...but, I like the way you explain it in simple terms...Most people prefer Chinese or Japanese food...but, You could be the one to revolutionize the Korean cooking craze!!!

  • This is the first that I watched from you and all I can say is that I hit the subscribe button.

  • This is the bomb!!!

  • I tried cook this dish yesterday, me and my boyfriend love it <3

  • Thanks for your great video teaching. Your cuisine tips help people around the world cook food healthy & happily. Thanks!!!

  • This is great, I combined fried the tofu in olive oil then did when it was just about done added soy sauce and corn syrup aswell as a load of sesame seeds. Made the sauce with the same ingredients aswell as sesame seeds in the sauce and a small amount of sriracha (rooster sauce) mixed in.

This was the best thing i've ever made, thanks for the recipe and the idea.

  • @Caltwentynine awesome news!

  • @schweetheartmonkee use honey or sugar.

  • Hello Maangchi,

I made Dubu buchim today and it turned out greatt! Thanks a lot for the recipe. I especially got gochujang from the korean stores after seeing a couple of your recipes. Will try them all out one by one :-)

After opening the Gochujang glass jarfor the first time i was wondering if it needs to be stored in the fridge? It doesnt say anything on the pack so i thought of asking you. Plz reply and let me know. Thanks a lot!!

  • @shailshri You could keep it in room temperature because it's supposed to be fermented stuff. Usually you can to keep those pastes like gochujang and denjang(miso) in room temperature (in dry cool place)

  • I love the dishes you use for serving the food

  • Thank you I have all the ingredients I am going to try it and tell you how it turns out.

  • @JamConcerned Good luck! : )

  • i always love your menu ...

  • it looks soooo goood <3

  • Yummy, that looks so good I am going to make that tonight

  • i would love to go to her dinner parties! lol

  • HI, ive just learned that korean food is so good for you, im going to be using some of your recipes, are there any recipes i could use that dont have sugars added as im a diabetic and avoid sugar in cooking, and also im not that much of a meat eater so would like veggy recipes,

  • oh my. it's 12:30 in the morning and i should be in bed. but no. i decided to watch this video and now my mouth is salivating. hahaha love your videos!

    ~Diana Kim~

  • The dishes she showed you are quite versatile..instead of putting the sauce over the tofu for the first dish, you can always use a dip style as well. And so on..or you can just be plain healthy and eat the tofu without the sauce, etc...it's just so much you can do xD;

  • i made it last night and it was gooood!

but i still smell garlic in my mouth, ;p

  • brush your teeth. LOL

  • Where do you get the cool lunchboxes? Ö

  • @Koekiie91 I got it at a Korean grocery store. : )

  • i went to a korean restaurant the other day and they had tofu covered in red pepper powder and pepper paste i think....can you do something like that?

  • Looks delicious. I have one question, are the sesame seeds you sprinkle on top roasted?

  • looks just yummy ^^

  • this is great. she is very good.

  • yummy looks delicious im gonna try his for my bf tonite. \\

Why is it so important that the tofu is dry rom water before entering the oil? i always never really care when i do this

  • I think it's because when it is wet, it will splatter when it touches the oil. Also, when it is wet, it will not easily brown when frying.

  • Yeah, i made myself too...Good taste...good job Maangchi..thank you...Greeting from ESTONIA and PHILIPPINES.

The presentation looks amazing! Thanks Maangchi!

  • Thank you!!

  • Maangchi ur my hero!! when are u visiting nyc again? i wanna meet you in person!

  • Dubu buchim yangnyumjang cost like $8 in a restaurant, ridiculous. so glad we get to learn how to make it.

tofu has a lot of water, so to avoid getting burned when pan frying them, cut them up, dry them, and sprinkle salt on them, and let them sit for couple minutes. salt will bring out the liquid, and dry the tofu again before frying.

  • are you using a firm or soft tofu in this video ?

  • firm tofu, check the detailed recipe on my website. Thanks!

  • A bit off-topic but since I couldn't find it on your website do you have a recipe for korean pizza that doesn't use fish ?

  • I think you are talking about Korean pancake. Yes, I have posted . Check the recipe "vegetable pancake (yachaejeon)" on my website. Skip seafood in the recipe if you don't like seafood. Thank you!

  • Okay.. I just watched the pancake video and that's not really what I had in mind. What I had in mind was a korean recipe layed on top of a traditionally cooked italian pizza dough.

Have you ever made such a thing ?

  • no, not yet, but someday later, kimchi pizza is so delicious, but I would like to focus on posting authentic Korean food for a while.

  • Okay, i understand. thank you though because I have used 6 or 7 of your recipes with great success. If you ever have idea of an idea for itatlian/korean pizza please let me know :)

  • You always make me want to try to cook it also. I love your recipes and cooking method.

    Thanks for video

  • wow looks delicious! i always get hungry after i watch your vids, even after i've just eaten! :D

  • Thanks - always love your recipes - easy and good!

  • that looks too good to eat.

  • one tip is that when cutting the tofu, make sure you cut it thick enough becuz it will shrink witht eh water evaporating =X

  • huh.. "for those who're hungry now all I can say is I'm sorry".. lolx.

  • Dear Maangchi, I once had a very good banchan. I don't remember what it is called, but it's made of chestnut, all mushed up into balls, with pine nuts stuck in them. Would you be kind enough to post that if you know how?

  • I don't know what it is. You can leave your question on the forum on my website. Someone else may give you the answer. The food sounds like a snack. Banchan (side dihs) is usually a little salty.

  • really nice video, the added music gave the video a really profesional appeal and you didn't overuse the tunes either , just right !

  • Nice to see a new video. I have eaten tofu since I could eat solid food. People eat consume fluid that comes out of another animal but won't eat something made from a bean?

My Aunt keeps telling me I cook Korean food better than her now. Thanks for your videos!

  • Im sooooo happy I found your page. You do an amazing job and explain very very clearly and professional.

I cant wait to cook this!!!

  • how long can you keep tofu in the fridge for?

  • Oh my God you make my tummy growl!!

  • Maangchi

did you know that according to the nutritionists says that (tofu and spinich) cannot be eat together Because tofu contains calcium and spinich contains iron. the 2 mix together and often eaten will cause stone kidney.

  • Who needs a Korean cookbook when Maangchi is on Youtube!

  • You make it the same way my mom makes it! Thank you for the video! I love tofu <3

  • Do we have to use Sesame oil??

  • That's my recipe, but you could skip it if you don't like sesame oil. In Korean cuisine, sesame oil is used in many dishes.

  • Tofu rocks. There are too many North Americans who are afraid of it. They don't know what they're missing. All the more for me!

  • I am hungry XD I should stop watching your videos when I haven't eaten anything. That tofu looks so delicious! I love your presentations- it looks like it's straight from a Korean cookbook.

  • Maangchi, What is in the rice?

  • beans. I made rice with beans.

  • 요리 진짜 잘하시네요~ 잘 보고 배워서 갑니다~

    감사합니다 ^__^

  • i love ur food cuz u make so many vegan dishes but its hard sometimes to find some recipes anyway keep it up.

i was wondering which soy souce u use?

i use the sweet n thick chinese one.

  • I use the brand name "saempyo" dark soy sauce. I get it at a Korean grocery store. Check the ingredient section on my website. I posted the photo of the soy sauce there. Thank you!

  • is brown soya sauce better in quality?

  • Try using the Korean one Maangchi recommended. Chinese/Japanese soy sauces are very different from Korean ones because Korean soy sauce is fermented for a long time and thus have a deeper taste. However, Japanese soysauce like kikkoman is not fermented that long and has a shallow taste more suited for japanese dishes.

  • you are so funny- love watching your vid- your food always makes me hungry! :)

  • i love u

  • I always love to watch you cook! I am so hungry now!

    Hugs

    David

  • Maangchi you rock!

  • also my wife does not use veg oil she uses pam spray which is a lot healthier in my opinion.

  • hey if the tofu expired a month ago, is it still ok to cook and eat? i know it's fermented but i wonder if it's safe to eat still.

  • no its not ok to eat , of course we must always use fresh tofu that has not expired yet

  • Cute presentation!

  • Ooooooh, I've been so waiting for these recipes. Thank you!!! I love Tofu Jun. |-q

  • Hey Maangchi. You are my favorite youtube cook and I always wanted to know who pics the music that is edited into your videos. Its sometimes is really good! First video I saw had Bob Marly and now CCR! haha thanks hun

  • I usually pick the music and edit video myself.

  • hey i love your videos

  • that looks delicious! tofu is my favourite dish! =) i usually coat tofu with eggs before frying it. my bf calls it korean french toast, lol.

  • Yes, I sometimes cook tofu the same way as you do. Korean french toast! : )

  • Your Tofu dishes are looks delicious~~

    Makes me so~~ hungry.

    Have a great week:)

  • Looks so good! I want to try this tomorrow!

  • hooooooooohhhhoou that tofu looks so juicy and meaty
