  • I don't understand this, but it refuses to hide the paragraph I told it to hide. I tried just putting in 'p' and no ID and it hid the other paragraphs, but not the one I want to be hidden.

  • Thanks dude

  • You just helped a going-blind web designer take his steps into web development.

I can't use imaging software anymore, so doing a career shift from designer to developer.

Many, many thanks to you. Defining each parameter one by one made it a lot easier to understand what exactly it is doing.

    Thanks again!

  • Great Tut video my man !

  • f5 in browser = refresh page

  • @INCiT3FUL Well, to get the result clear ,he had to edit the link in the browser. f5 won't work like that...

  • Thankx

  • How do you add the code to a website? I downloaded a model and I don't know how to add it to my site. Don't know Java at all...

  • I love jQuery, but i love boobs more, but seeing breast feeding makes me look like a perv. I am sadden.

  • nice fart at 0:27

  • @pockthehairy I was dying laughing at this. Throughout the whole thing, there's a bunch of fart noises and I just imagined this guy constantly farting everywhere he goes. No wonder he freelances from home! ;-) I almost puked from laughing so hard (and yes I know they're not really farts).

  • i was breastfeeding my baby and now i'm learning jQuery

  • @pockthehairy made my day!

  • Wow. Great tutorial. Thank you! Subscribed. :)

  • so...what if you want to click the anchor again to hide the paragraph? sorta like an on/off button?

  • @iwilltryharder use 'slideToggle' Instead (w/o quotes)

  • the word you were looking for is 'opaque' (meaning non-transparent) ^^

  • HOLY MOTHER ****ING JESUS THIS IS SO AWESOME •_•

  • Great tutorial!

  • thanks, very useful

  • you are a life saver! thanks

  • Wow, thank you for the clear explanation!

  • Your step-by-step approach is JUST what I needed. Thank you very much for sharing this video.

  • You Sir are awesome!!

Thanks for taking the time to explain things in a way that is easy to understand and replicate.

It takes the daunting task out of learning the correct syntax related to Jquery and this is someone coming from a php background.

Never enough tutorials for begginers be that at what ever level!

    Thanks again.

  • Thanks for the excellent tutorial. Learned this a lot faster than by book alone.

  • this tut sucks . . . TITS!!!

  • thank you :)

  • is simple so far :D

  • i just checked one of those breast feeding vids and this one and that one did NOT have any of the same tags haha, how can they be related then?

  • Brilliant tutorial, really helpful.

  • Total thumbs up for not losing your composure at 27 seconds. Nicely played. I wonder if nobody else heard it. I was entertained.

  • why do you keep creating inline functions? why not declare the functions outside? At least for me it makes the syntax complicated. Imagine if you write php or java or any other language where all the functions are in one place.

    Thank you

  • @yacahuma jQuery functions sometimes demand function callbacks. But it doesn't always make sense to write a function somewhere else because most of the time code isn't reused in the same page. For example, for $(document).ready(function() { // code }); there is no real reason to define a function somewhere else because the function() {} is basically wrapper code for a parameter. For animations and most jQuery uses it makes more sense to define functions inline.

  • Thanks, dude!!! Awesome!

  • Nice tutorial. Thank you

  • Awesome..

Thanks. It helped me a lot :-)

  • thanks buddy, simpel and clear instructions ;-)

  • Really fantastic! I had no clue before and now i've used this for a blog on my site!

  • THANKS !

  • good work.. thanks!

  • good work..

  • how would i make it hide after i click the link again after it has been shown?

please help me and tell me the code i really like jQuery and i would love to learn it

    thanks

  • @mikexd4 create a variable that is at zero when page loads, and when user clicks you check it's value and do the action accordingly, and alter it's state. Easy.

  • @kriptonis it worked thanks :)

  • Thank you so much! This video helped me very much. Now I know how to make accordions with jQuery.

  • Damn good tutorial. Keep up the great work. I GET IT NOW!

  • Great tutorial, simply explained, thanks

  • great tutorial, but it's soooo hard to see the screen. does this guy have a camera pointed at his monitor? not cool.

  • why is breast feeding in the related videos lol ha ha

  • @halofannatic I laughed at that too hehe.

  • @halofannatic same!! wtf

  • @halofannatic Because that video answers the question: "How often should I breastfeed my baby?"

  • @Pr0nfessor

with a name like pronfessor, i have one guess of what you are...a pedophile. because pron means porn correct?

  • @halofannatic if you think that the word 'porn' means 'pedophile', there's something wrong with your knowledge of the English language.

  • bravo, google algorithms, bravo.

  • @halofannatic Haha! WTF!!!!!!

  • @BenLancaaster I KNOW, RIGHT!

  • @halofannatic i was wondering the same thing :)

  • @halofannatic

hahah it has 34 million views

and absolutely no 'listens' ; )

  • Should be spoon feeding..

  • excellent tutorial man, I'm a long time PHP developer but have had little experience with JavaScript UI manipulation. This was an excellent crash course for the jQuery library. +5 stars

  • Brilliant tutorial. Thanks so much!

  • your website is down, which is a shame, I'd like to see more jquery examples

  • Thank you very much for creating this, I was searching for almost an hour for something for beginners. Great tutorial, I followed along and i was so happy it worked!! lol

  • It seems that your website is not working. Do you have any problems with it right now?

  • So I can put a whole lot of stuff for google bot on my page and the user wont see it, just the bot?

Like hidden headers at the top of my page and sentences full of keywords everywhere?

Can I really? ... lovely, jubbly

  • yes but you could do the same thing with css display:none

  • thank you so much, this was perfect. exactly what i neded.

  • How does google deal with the text while it's hidden? Can it still index it?

Nice tutorial. One of the best tutors on the web. The only criticism I have, and I know this sounds silly, is that you an always here the mouse clicking throughout all his vids.

  • the test will still be indexed because google bot is not blinded by CSS like we are :)

  • I think opaque is the word you're looking for.

  • thank you

  • thanks dude

  • thanks! helped me alot!

  • Its a GREAT video and nice explanation... A lots of thx.

  • respect, this was great! tnx alot

  • Many thanks for this tutorial !!!

    Very easy to follow.

And very clear voice, I'm not English native but I understood every word !!! It's not the same on all video tutorials :-)

    Thanks !!!

  • Thanks for the tutorial. I've seen a few job for web designers and one of the requirements is knowledge of JQuery. Is it possible to use JQuery on a PHP enabled page? probably, i'll go and look. cheers.

  • lhawkerNZ, yes you can use javascript with any server side scripting, Javascript only performs its function on the users browser and the only thing the server is used for is for storing information, and the library itsself. You can use it with AJAX too.

You can do all sorts of things by combining the two languages. For example you could dynamically generate the script itsself, so a user could actually chose how fast they want the animations to work.

    show("<?php if($speed == "fast") echo"fast"

  • ok it wont let me type php code but you see what i mean (hopefully)

  • Conterstrike source menu With esl-setti

    add me in steam luxuzboy

  • MF GREAT!!

  • very good tutorial...

  • haven't touched javascript for ages, thanks :)

  • I understand what the jquery fuss is all about now.

    excellent vid.

  • how to hide it again??

  • Thx for putting this up my friend. Good intro!

  • Thanks.

  • Opaque man!!! The word you're looking for is opaque!! *screaming at the browser*

  • awesome.

  • Nice man... thanks a lot!!!!
