  • having a different point of view and false statements are two different things. Being for war and against war are two different points of view, stating Muslims are the only terrorists that use religion is a false statement (i.e the Tamil Tigers used Hinduism to recruit, the LRA use Christianity to recruit.).

  • you dont deserve to be a teacher the man stated blatent lies jews commited the first terrorist attacks in 20th century in Jerusalem READ A FUCKING HISTORY BOOK BEFORE YOU GET INFRONT OF A CAMERA

  • Ultimately, it is up to the school and if they tell the teacher that his comments are unacceptable, but he continues to say the same things, the school has every right to fire him. Especially if he is trying to incite genocide. If they got hold of audio it would be easier. The problem with tenure is that teachers get there and realize that they don't have to work hard anymore and they can just go through the motions without actually teaching the kids and they cannot be touched.

  • This guy did a terrible job on this video.Yes professors need to be protected in order to push the boundaries of academia BUT they are not protected from making BS, arbitrary, innane statements that have no intellectual oracademic finding;THEY ARE NOT PROTECTED FOR MAKING SUCH STATEMENTS.You argue about that this could be a slippery slope,I see what you are saying but it is not applicable in this case.Reason andlogic point to this prof being wrong,he's not simply arguing something controversial.

  • i dont understand why people are so ignorant srs

  • Thumbs down... This video sucked hard. Whatever your name is (guy in the video) you are a complete idiot.

  • protecting workers rights is GOOD

  • At a 9/11 memorial presented by the university, Professor Eisenstein stated the US military hadn't "gone far enough": and that they should "annihilate" all Muslims. Is this what we want US tax dollars going toward? Calls for genocide? Seriously?!?

  • I dont think hating muslims is bigotry, I mean you are judging them on what they believe, not there race or sexuality. However actually clamining muslims are the only terrorists is stupid.

  • I first began college naively thinking profs would be open minded and ecstatic about opposing opinions. I quickly learned otherwise. I forgot profs were human and exhibited all the good & bad acts inherent in our nature. I adapted a pragmatic attitude, completing tests in a way the prof wanted. Arguing with other students and independent research kept me from exploding when listening to some profs. Upon graduation I no longer pretended to agree with anyone.

  • I'm an IU student, but I am actually shocked that this is coming out of Purdue. Purdue's has always boasted about it academic selection in staff but now I'm not so sure what to think. There is a difference between free speech but, if the "Muslims are the only ones to wage war in the name of their religion" quote is true, is just flat out academically wrong. I don't care if he is tenured he needs to be suspended. He's flat out lying to his students.

  • Its not a different opinion, it's intellectual dishonesty. He should be suspended.

  • theres a difference between "different points of view" and straight up racism

  • What do you expect from a Jew???? They the real racist. They are nazis dependents fronting to be semites.GTFOH!!!! They don't look semetic and they don't think semetic. They staunch racist arab and black and gentile haters.NO SYMPATHY HERE.

  • I think that students are paying to BE exposed to different and sometimes radical ideas. If you went to college to be told what you already know and alrady believe it would be a big waste of money. I had an English teacher that showed the movie Jesus Christ Superstar and at the end asked, "who is the hero?" Several classmates said naturally, "Jesus." She said, "no." Being an atheist, I looked at the film for how it was and said, "Judas is the hero." Oh my, the uproar from my classmates.

  • The audio clips are on my profile check it out

  • Do you trust this man's scholarship? He sounds like a dolt when it comes to history. Tenure is not a guarantee either. You cannot just say, "I have a PhD, gimme a tenured position now!" Tenure is a great thing but it is not some automatic promotion. This is bigotry and intellectual dishonesty. Intellectual dishonesty should not be approved of by a respectable university.

  • @mistacramer The way to get rid of a tenured professor is for no one to take his class. Like all things capitalist, you vote with your pocket book.

  • If all professors were atheists then we wouldn't be hearing these types of inter religious fighting.

  • I like the new guy but this is some silly shit. He should keep his personal opinions out of the lectures, if he's being paid to teach, he should teach based on facts not made up bullshit like muslims being the only terrorists. You fucking yanks are the biggest terrorists the world has ever known, you just consider yourselves to be liberators while the rest of the world can't stand you.

  • @JimboJ1981

Where are you from? I'm sure your country is the one magical country that hasn't done ANY fucking thing wrong.

  • @JimboJ1981 way to generalize, dick

  • @JimboJ1981 Calm done, its just a dude not a country.

  • @JimboJ1981 your opinion offends me. you're fired.

  • Wasn't a similar topic discussed a couple of months ago about a university professor saying offensive things and it turned out that in universities and colleges, you pay for information whilst doing your own research on the matter? If a K-12 teacher is exposing students to bigotry, hatred, or any opinion unrelated to the proper material, then that is unacceptable. A university professor may have his opinions and they might be wrong, but you also have the ability to question them.

  • "only muslims have committed acts of terrorism in the name of religion" does the name Baruch Goldstein ring a bell Mother fker??? Israeli orthodox jewish man who was responsible the Cave of the Patriarchs massacre, walked into a mosque mowed 29 people and wounded 125 with a machine gun all in the name of religion.

  • Sorry, dude, but you're wrong. This isn't a matter of "oh I'm offended". This man is using botched FACTS when students are paying for FACTS. He is LYING, not sharing an "opinion". People need to learn the difference between facts and opinions. To say "only Muslims are terrorists" is simply not factual. Students are not paying to be lied to and for that he SHOULD be stopped.

  • What a sad excuse for open mindedness and tolerance. Even if you can defend hate speech under the 1st amendment, he should be fired for his gross misrepresentation of history. Just as a young Earth proponent has no right teaching geology.

Lying to people in the name of tolerance is not tolerable.

  • Think about what would have happened if the professor was muslim and he was bad talking jews. It would not be tolerated in the least. Free speech? No...Hate speech from a terrorist and inciting violence. America tolerates hating muslims....It's that simple.

  • @nett103 America is much better than many other Western nations. We might (sadly) allow hate speech, but we haven't banned veils, we haven't banned minarets...

  • Although I must say after knowing what an American friend has told me they learned....

The US education system works like Fox news. lies lies lies is most of what you get when its about the world.

And this was hate speech as christians keep terrorising non stop around the world so saying that this isn't a hate speech shows ignorance.

  • Personally I don't think it is even an issue with the offensive speech. As the letter states the professor seems to also try and spread misinformation. As the letter stated the professor said that 'only Muslims have committed crimes in the name of their god' which is not true. It is one thing to have an offensive view, it is another entirely to educate people with a misinformation. to me it is more akin to a math teacher teaching a 2 year old that 2+2=5.

  • thanks for you completely bought and paid for opinion

  • @killaken2000 sorry, your

  • I love when students try to dictate what a professor can say. If you want non-tolerance towards Anti-Muslim beliefs there are states with colleges in it like Illinois, New Jersey, Michigan, and so forth who would not put up with any anti-Muslim beliefs. If you do not want to go to a school in the states with very little acceptance for anti-Muslim beliefs then use ratemyprofessor which I guarantee will show this teacher's beliefs or teachers like him beliefs in a review.

    STOP COMPLAINING

  • @Stamps600 Nope. They should keep complaining. Universities that accept MONEY to provide the SERVICE of an EDUCATION are not free to give MISINFORMATION, they are responsible to provide the FACTS which means you can't blame everything on one group that every day is performed by MULTIPLE groups.

  • The professor shouldn't be making posts like that. If a employee of company did that and management found out they'd be suspended r fired

  • This Professor is telling the truth. I applaud him.

  • @TheNinjaabarbie There are people who are just like you...who happen to "applaud" Hitler in the same fashion you support these anti-Muslim/Arab or anti-anything-that you're-not bullshit. Grow up and learn to respect other races, religions, etc... otherwise you're no better than the people who commit genocide. Rhetoric is where it starts and it ends with human lives.

  • this it , just kill every1 that believes in a "god" . lets start a genocide that benefits humanity for once , instead of their's that hurts it .

  • @DentistD1G Genocide never benefits humanity.

  • @campbellsoup93 Because overpopulation is a good thing...

  • I'm a college professor and I couldn't disagree more with the idea of tenure. In what other jobs do you have a similar guarantee of a job? None other, and yet people stay at jobs for years, they're invested, they care... all of the points John used in favor of tenure. What I have found is that many professors, once they receive tenure, stop caring. They can't get fired, so they let it all hang out and stop being invested and caring about their students. Good teachers will stay, tenure or no.

  • The professor is clearly unprofessional. If he suddenly started saying "ching chong" or "nigger" or whatever racist thing in class I'm sure it would be a bigger deal than his anti-Muslim rhetoric. After 9/11, it seems as if anyone can insult Muslims or Arabs and its not that big of a deal to them or the universities. There was a previous story TYT did on a Muslim college student who was investigated for 'terrorism' because some guy that allegedly molested her said she was.

  • @moonightlight1990 There are several million Muslims in the world already, They don't need anyones help.

  • @moonightlight1990 If this guy used the term "Sand-nigger" or "Camel jockey" I guarantee he would be fired. You need to use better examples.

  • wow, and the irvine 11 students get prosecuted and found guilty while this fuckbag of a teacher gets away for his ignorance everyday.

  • John you should try and use less "ehm" and "ahm" it will make you (at least look) more professional.

  • it is part of college experience: learning how to deal with people with different perspectives. though this does look more like hate speech. best way to deal with this if you're muslim is to just avoid them by using ratemyprofessor

  • @Harry182182 unacceptable.

  • From a different point of view, what if you have a science teacher wanting to teach evolution, but that fact offends certain people. The teacher is doing their job, but the students are offended and want the teacher gone. Should the students have the right to kick a teacher out of their job because they are personally offended? Obviously, I completely agree with John.

  • @osaka35 that is the worst comparison in the entire world.

  • @elmirasahar It's a comparison of what that kind of power could bring about. It's not a comment on how cruel and idiotic the professor is, it's a comment on how such a precedence would hurt students and professors in the long run. There are other things that can be done rather than firing him.

  • @osaka35 look im all about freedom of speech, but this dude is being paid to teach about political science or whatever it is...not religion. they are not paying him to hear about his opinions, they are paying to be taught a certain subject.

  • @osaka35 like what? what can they do? if they can make him shit them hell up about his personal opinions thats fine.

  • There is a huge difference between freedom of speech and hate speech. If it was a muslim professor talking about jews or christians/americans in that way it would not be tolerated. What's good for he goose is good for the gander.

  • A prejudice should not be tolerated on a school campus. I understand the concerns of restricting the professors ability to attack a subject but you just have to know when you are crossing the bounds of reason.

  • i disagree. Racism is racism. Being prejudiced against a certain group of people (as is obviously the case here) should not be tolerated at all. Of course, there are grey areas that are less clear to make a call on, in which case it wouldn't be appropriate to take any action. But this is definitely a case where the university should.

  • Not guilty. Freedom of speech. Is anyone stopping the hateful bullshit that WBC spews out? No, they have the right to say what they want to say.

  • what if this professor denies the holocaust? what then?

  • @TheAce1082 Those two kinds of situations are not comparable AT ALL. That's completely ignorant of you to say. Muslims are well and prospering at several million. So fuck off.

  • John, I agree with what you're saying that people should try to not be offended when in academia. But what the professor did doesn't count as pushing the boundaries of knowledge. It simply amounts to bigotry against Muslims.

  • Why do you have to give the anti-Semitics the time of day and the publicity for their trash cause?

  • In my opinion college is not about anything other than the education that you receive and that you pay for. You go in, pay your tuition, the professor does their job and teaches the course, keeping personal opinion out of the classes and only in private or one on one situations when the students request it and it is at the professors discretion.

  • If a professor is a bigot people shouldn't be forced to take that class!~ Your money is your money! But bigots are everywhere, so John is right about needing to learn to deal with these types of people.

  • I WISH THIS SHOW WOULD STOP TARGETING JEWS IT PISSES ME OFF.

  • @TheNinjaabarbie I wish you would stop typing in caps. No one is targeting Jew's either. They are targeting a bigot. It doesn't matter what religion or race or creed they are, a bigot is a bigot.

  • @boredgeek they always target Jews on this show. I would LOVE to see them target a Muslim FOR ONCE.

  • @TheNinjaabarbie You make as much sense as the people that post about the Armenian Genocide. TYT has JEWS as on air personalities. TYT has an Armenian co-host. But no, TYT is anti Jew and anti Armenian. Idiot.

  • @boredgeek They also have Jew nutjobs in the Propalistine movement but it doesn't change the fact that Palastinians are antiSemitic. It's a complete fasad, They hired Jews for THAT reason only so they can keep up with the lie that they aren't antiSemitic. When they hire a Jew who keeps the Sabbath Holy and who doesn't deny their heritage all the time like the 2 fucktards they have on the show now, and that Jew gets to be a regular, I'll believe they aren't antiSemitic.

  • @boredgeek TYT has also proved to be anti Semitic because it never covers news that looks unfavorably towards Muslims who hate Jews. They refuse to cover the facts about Iran or Palistinian immaturity in their show. When they start doing that, I'll change my mind.

  • @TheNinjaabarbie The continue to live in deluded ignorance. TYT is not anti Semitic, and they have not condoned the terrorist actions of those in Palestine, and I am pretty damn sure they are not too keen on Iran and their crazy ways. Grow up and get out from under whatever rock you are living under with your ignorant views.

  • @boredgeek This is true. It could be simplified even more though... It's as simple as asking him "show me a clip that's anti-semitic". Once he fails to find it his argument is proven lost.

  • @Numbuh7 Problem is that she will not accept it as such. That is how deluded she is.

  • THIS IS BULLSHIT. TELL THIS MUSLIM ASS HOLE TO FUCK OFF. PROFESSOR EISENSTIEN IS FINE THE WAY HE IS....

  • Google the issue. Read the Northwest Indiana Times article and then read other reviews of the article itself as well as the original Facebook posts. You will undoubtedly find other things that he has said quoted elsewhere. Don't stop with this TYTU video if you're actually interested in the topic!

  • My feeling is that this response did not engage the problem that exists when extreme prejudice is exhibited by a tenured person and you are a member of the minority being discriminated against. A racist prof and a black student, etc.

  • A big part of why tenure shouldn't protect him is that he's a political science teacher. A biologist cannot be protected if he preaches creationism. A cosmologist cannot be protected if he promotes flat-earth theory. A psychologist cannot teach the locus of the mind is in the heart. These aren't differences of opinion, they are a rejection of facts.

Similarly, a political science professor cannot teach any ethnicity has a divine mandate to which all others must yield, even in say, POLITICS.

  • so long as his bigotry and his grading remain separate then it's fine... what if you're a muslim student?

  • @fleshboundtobone In universities with a large enough class size, the professor sole job is to teach. Nothing else. The marking of assignments/tests are done by TAs.

  • John says he doesn't want professors censored but what about the students? If the professor is unable to act professionally, or if his "point of view" causes the students to be unable to speak up without unfair treatment, then the guy at least needs to be assessed.

As for the Facebook thing, I do not think that he should be judged on it. Only his conduct at work should be considered. I think a person should be able to express whatever opinions they like as long as he leaves prejudices at home.

  • @fleshboundtobone Perfect time to engage in a debate, and see if the professors bigoted views, combined with a Muslim student forming a coherent and intellectual argument, cause him to grade unfairly. Or it he has the discussion, gets very heated druing it, and still grades fairly. Good way to test it I think.

  • Great job, John!

  • Sorry John but I think you're wrong here. There's a big difference between having a different points of view and learning from others' perspectives, and just simply being a prejudiced against another group. It's not the university's job to protect the hateful speech of a professor.

  • @cmtsoccer9 But who gets to decide if its hate speech? In this case it seems clear, but I feel uncomfortable allowing either faculty or students to go around censoring opinions they don't agree with. - John Iadarola

  • @tytuniversity The University president gets to decide if it's hate speech. The mission of a university is to create knowledge and pass that knowledge down to its students. Opinions are not knowledge, and if the president of the university decides those opinions are inappropriate and not consistent with the university's mission or classroom atmosphere, then the professor should be fired, especially when students are being offended enough to start massive petitions.

  • @tytuniversity Not to mention that Purdue is a private university and is not necessarily held to the same standards as the state.

  • @Vortex1988 That's a very good point.

  • Comment removed

  • @tytuniversity I see your point, and I would be uncomfortable giving someone the power to define hate speech and censor people however they saw fit. However, I think in this case the students have a right to not want this professor representing their university.

  • @tytuniversity Understood, but what if it was a muslim professor who denied the holocaust, and blamed Jews for all the world's problems. What i'm trying to say is, simply, you're wrong, John. Like Cenk says sometimes, "Bounds of Reason". Not all speech is protected. Students are a "captive audience" by law.

  • @johnc0008 Muslims do that shit all the time. I wish our government was more watchful on them.

  • @TheNinjaabarbie all I need is 1 example of a Muslim professor in the United States who denied the holocaust, and blamed Jews for all the world's problems, and I will concede my point. Please find the example ASAP, or you concede your argument.

  • @johnc0008 I said the general population of Muslims. Fortunately, our government isn't lefitst enough yet to let a Muslims professor do that.

  • @TheNinjaabarbie So, essentially, you admit you just made it up.

  • @johnc0008 I don't concede to anyone's bullshit and I wasn't talking to you in the first place so don't step to me you inbred mongloid.

  • @TheNinjaabarbie You talked to me when you replied to my comment. And frankly, people who can't express themselves without senseless insults should not be reckoned with. If you're still reading, that means get a life, and shed the hate.

  • @TheNinjaabarbie Wow. Seek mental help...immediately. You've reached critical mass.

  • @tytuniversity I think they should let courts decide! I mean really, if this guy was saying things against African Americans (me) there is no doubt in my mind people would be in an uproar and this guy would not be a professor anymore. Are you telling me they get to stay no matter what? So, he can walk into the classroom wearing a klans outfit and screaming obscene things but b/c he is tenured he still wont be fired? Muslims get no respect!

  • @tytuniversity I would have to agree with you on this one John. I'm just not sure how you WOULD go about classifying if some prof was using his class to spread hate about another ethnicity or religion or culture. Then again, I'm not sure what kind of ethics boards most colleges have, or if they even have anything like that. But if you did, wouldnt you have to have regulators for the board, and regulators for the regulators. Trying to stop abuse of power. IDK :)

  • @tytuniversity Seriously?! You have to ask that?!

How the hell did you get the job?!

Here is a fact: Christians commit a LOT of terrorism and NOT just in the crusades.

So you would think if I said "the jews had it coming in ww2" would NOT be hate speech?

  • @tytuniversity Since when is calling a group terrorists a love speech?

  • @cmtsoccer9 dumbass.

  • @PonchoNOS haha classy.

  • fail, professors cannot say shit like that. students can but not professionals. the "alternative perspective theory" doesn't work here. students have the right to kick him out. he needs to be objective.

  • If people lived forever people would not give two shits about religion.

  • All religion is bullshit when will people learn

  • I love when religions criticize other religions... full of hypocrisy and irony.

  • @ZiqqiPH The one thing you can rely on religion for 100% of the time is sectarian conflict.

  • @ZiqqiPH lol yea and lack of faith in their own belief

  • Do we have to make a video? Cant we write you guys an email?

  • @sweetfar1 Yes, you can write us if you'd prefer.

  • @tytuniversity wht is the email to write u guys?

  • @tytuniversity Listen to the audio from his class on my channel. There are two clips. I also set it as a video response to this video. And fyi the recording was also used by the professor in an online class he taught. I didn't realize this until a student told me in a comment, and when the professor admitted it on a local radio show, it verified the student's comment.

  • Comment removed

  • This guy is painfully bad at whole camera speaking situation. I can hardly continue.

  • No, you cannot have first...

  • first

also, i think the subject would have been better discussed in the frame of a professor who makes intentionally fallacious statements with the intent to do harm to the person those statements about or heard by.

  • @inademv Nope, Chuck Testa.
