You know its hard to point out one thing that djokovic did in order for him to win against nadal, cause he did a few things right that resulted in to him winning al their mathches this year! First i think he's playing 85 to 90% of the really to nadal's backhand, he is returning better than ever, his forehand is improved alot this season, and us usual he is getteing more balls back during the really's, but the most important thing that he improved is mentally he is so strong mentally this year!
When Djokovic was the 30th of the ranking of the ATP i said, he will be the number one.
And now, I can confirm I was right.
Every time people find excuses, nadal was tired, nadal was injured, nadal was stretched, nadal blah blah ... Stop bullshit! This Is the sport. Tennis players are rocks, do the gym every day and training 10 hours a day, can not be so fragile.
Thanks a lot for uploading. My timer recording dropped the last 4 games because the match was so long. What a match, and Djokovic - what an unbelievable dominance. It's not often that you see world no. 1 make world no. 2 look like an amateur, apart from the third set. Well, that's what Nadal has done to Federer a few times. Next year will be so interesting!
@volvariella probably but the truth is that Nadal wasn't mentally ready for the fifth set...since he already "tired" in 4th set...you could cearly tell by his performance, in the middle of the fourth set he barely moved and tried to catch balls compared for what he done in third set (which he struggled but still won...)...
Yes. If he played Federer, he could conserve a lot of energy because Federer played really fast. But not with Djokovic who is confident to engage in long rally with him. It's obvious both players showed sign of tiredness during the 4th set. Djokovic was serving slower as he had something wrong on his back while Nadal's right leg started to cramp again.
@volvariella yes like i said i never said anything about Djokovic being more fresh in 4th set, what i meant was that Nadal even though he's in the same boat with Djokovic stamina wise would not put balls as precise and close to the line as Djokovic...
Yes, anything Nadal did, Djokovic could do it better. Defending and attacking, as Becker said. Nadal cannot beat Djokovic anymore from his comfort zone (behind the baseline), he should try coming to the net often (Becker's advice)... but nowadays all top players are good retrievers, you must be very comfortable at the net otherwise you become a sitting duck there, watching those balls pass by.
@volvariella thats why tennis needs more serve&volleyers these days...because all they do is smashing the hell of a ball from the baseline...this is quite boring you know...
IMO, Nadal and Djokovic final is really exciting but also exhausting to watch. The third set was like a slugfest between him and Ferrer in AO. If I remember correctly, one game went for more than 20 minutes... which after that Nadal got cramped again.
Good thing that I stopped watching the 3rd set and followed livescore instead, because Djokovic lost it. I continued watching on 4th set when it's already evident that Djokovic would win. LOL
@volvariella oh well...i kinda did the same, but i hold onto myself up to the tie break, which i still missed...and than when score was like 3:0 or 4:1 in the final set i switched back and watched that chunk of match to the end...LOL
@volvariella oh well...i kinda did the same, but i hold onto myself up to the tie break, which i still missed...and than when score was like 3:0 or 4:1 in the final set i switched back and watched that chunk of match to the end...LOL
Nadal also played his best for a while so i gotta give him a credit, but overall that's Djokovic who controlled the match and its outcome...you could clearly tell Djokovic lost third set accidently...sure Nadal used it to his advantage and made break to take it all to deciding rubber called tie break, but with all the honest i don't think Nadal would have won if Djokovic served well when it was 6:5 in the third set...
Ahh...poor poor Andy Murray xD Can't even beat Nadal and now he has THIS to contend with! I felt that they were both so out of steam in the 4th set, the shots were a lot slower (as to be expected after 4 hours of hardcore play!) Congrats Novak! Commiserations Nadal :( but I'm sure he'll be trying to work out a game plan to beat him for next time ;D
@Dracilla112 slower or not...if you look back closely and analyze fourth set you could crearly say in MOST of situations Djokovic were just twice or even more as precise as Nadal...yes they both tired in fourth set, yes ball reached much slower, but overall it's Novak's precision that cost Nadal match...
@Summon256 I don't doubt Djokovic's supremacy this match, he had it in the bag (apart from set 3 but close). Like the commentators were saying, Nadal was not winning any free points on his own serve. He struggled a lot more on his own serve than Djokovic did and he also wasn't hitting the ball deep enough into the court. It allowed Djokovic to come forward and hammer it with his backhand. Djokovic managed to dig deep in set 4, and halfway through Nadal just stopped trying to run for them.
Djokovic himself knows that he's not the most well-liked player. He should be humble to put himself in positive image.
I still remember how he's portrayed as a "faker" and a "pussy" because he likes to exaggerate his injury and easily gave up. He's arrogant as well, but his excuse was, it was the right mindset against Fedal.
Don't get me wrong. I like Djokovic and find him amusing, but he can be misunderstood like Federer and Nadal.
@volvariella he doesn';t have to be humble just because people want him too...i always had respect to the ones who never give a f*ck what others think about them and do just what they think is right...if you don't like champion as he's than there's only one thing you can do...GET OVER IT...or there's second option...jump of the high bridge into the river full of rocks...
Federer is very disrespectful to his oponents (especially to Novak),and Rafa has very annoying celebrations and gestures in my opinion. You don't have to hate Novak just because he destroys your darlings on every surface.Maybe if you would stop hate so much you would be a happier man and notice "atomic tennis" that Novak plays.
@ivanmrkvc7 So what can you say about the gestures of Djokovic then? He's absolutely full of arrogance and he doesnt even have the decency to keep it hidden. How do you think his opponents feel when hes parading around the court slapping his chest saying 'Look at me.' I'm waiting for the moment when Nadal evolves his game and starts beating Djokovic. He's not invincible. Every player can evolve and take their game to the next level and thats what Nadal will do, mark my words.
thx raffamusic SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TWO OF THE BEST PLAYERS OVER FED TO BE HONEST FEDS GAME IS TOO BORING FOR ME!!!!!! EVEN THO HE WON 16 SLAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We've had the Federer era where he won by floating across the court. We've had the Nadal era where he won by using power and stamina. And now we begin the Djokovic era where he wins by using athleticism and speed. And all Andy Murray can do is watch and think "WTF do I have to do?"
@rhysoto90 I feel pity for Murray, for him to win a grand slam it's going to be very very hard i think he comes out in the wrong time. Just like Roddick, when he's in his peak Federal stops him from winning many, but at least he managed to win one or two. Now Nadal and Federal going downhill (still tough though) and the rising Djoker seems to be dominate for the next few yrs. So when will Murray have his turn?
@ArjunJethwa Personally I don't think he will have an era where he will dominate tennis like Federer, Nadal and Djokovic have. I think he has it in him to win a grand slam though. I just hope I am proved wrong and he does dominate men's tennis someday.
@snowbeach1981 i can't explain it and if in first case it is quite obvious...the second case is...dunno...i just felt like she's going to do it...call it sixth sense...

This somewhat lopsided final is actually longer and more exhausting than DjokoFed semifinal match. The third set alone is 84 minutes!
This final took 4 hours 10 minutes to finish while DjokoFed five-setter semifinal took just 3 hours 50 mins!!
