They didn't stop Mongolian invasion - a hurricane swept the army. Its one thing to acknowledge the fact that Mongols didnt conquer Japan, but its another to attribute a natural disaster to someone else's military skill.
Also, the only reason China was losing to the Japanese was because they lost millions of people to Taipei rebellion and the like, including the long Civil War. Japan just decided to move in when the country was at the weakest.
