GREAT NEWS- IT'S A KNOCKOUT IS BACK!!!! - Yep Channel 10 has finally come to it's senses and decided to put the show on with HG Nelson as the new host for the summer 2011/12 series.
I remember when I was 5, I would hang on every word of this theme song! What a great song and what a great show. The host always reminded me of Stan the man.
My parents took us to be in the audience in about 1986. What they didn't tell you is that you didn't actually get to barrack for your state, they just assigned you to one. We had to cheer for Victoria. Boo!
I loved this show when I was a kid. I remember driving up north to QLD and my parents pointed out to me where it was filmed, anyone know?? Gold Coast??
Whilst i'm pleased that 7Two have picked it up. With the way OH&S Laws are today could it still be possible for a show like this to be made? Gladiators there was plenty of padding around
GOD NEW PEOPLE!!!! It's a knckout have moved to channel 7. Will be on 7TWO coming soon!!! How do I know? I spoke channel 10 that channel 7 who bought it. I spoke channel 7 that said yes they bought it and will repeat on channel 7TWO (72) is coming soon. Please eye on TV WEEK. Channel 7 said not stage when be on. Be patient. Coming soon be on 7TWO. (Ausralian digital channel)
I can remember the original one before this in I think the late 70's called 'Almost Anything Goes'. It was very raw and very funny. Never really took to the later and slicker variants.
Yes, its true, Channel 10 is no longer, its been moved to channel 7. I did spoke channel 10 and told me channel 7 who bought it and moved to channel 7 and I spoke channel 7 and they said will be on 7TWO coming soon! Just eyes out on tv gudie or TV WEEK.
hum.. that blondie from the new south wales team is hot, lol
i read in wikipedia that this show was canceled due to the complaints of the neighbours but watching this video i couldnt see any neighbourhood or houses near the scenary of the games
As hard as it is to believe, this show also reached American shores in 1990, as heine71 mentioned, on late morning/early afternoon on Saturdays in 1990/1991 on WWOR-TV New York..... I remembere asking myself where this show came from!!!!!!! Over the top!!!!
I was a bit too young when it originally aired, but i caught most of the episodes when Ten re aired it in the early 90's. And i still have quite a few episodes to this date
coming soon on 7TWO. I spoke channel 10 and said that channel 7 who bought it and moved to channe 7 and said will be on 7TWO coming soon. Eyes out on TV WEEK
I remember getting up early for whatever reason during the reruns (as I was only born in '86), and usually catching the end of the show. I didn't understand what was going on, or remember to get up early the next time it was on, but I loved it all the same. Thanks for posting the clips!
Its kind of strange when people look up online for a really odd thing/subject thinking they are the only ones, to discover lots and lots of others already there looking up the same thing.
I suspect these types are searches are by us older (40 somethings) nostalgic types though? Haha.
I used to watch IAK when I was 11 onwards (44 now). I never knew there was an American version though as we only watched the British version on our black and white TV (switched to colour when I was 12).
I remember watching this as a kid, i loved it!! The next day i would try to re-create the same obstacle course challenges with my friends however the garden hose, mini pool and cardboard boxes didnt really capture the pirate ship challenge. The 80's were the best, im so glad i had an 80's childhood. What do the youth have now? Big Brother? Australian Idol? Poor kids! You'l also be sad to know that the old it's a knockout arena is now a housing estate and the pirate ship and trees are long gone!
Australian version! I am An aussie living in London. I grew up with this show, and it was one of my favourite show's ever as a kid. Im pleased to say i've just come across about 12 episodes or so of the show.
Whilst I am very happy with this news, from what year are the episodes you have. And what events do you have? I hope you have some slippery ones. I am not being impatient, I am simply just wondering when can we expect to see the episodes you have uploaded on youtube.
Is it only 12 episodes that you have or do you have more?
I counted 12, i have a few episodes from each year. I was thinking of either posting an episode from the first year or posting some classic games like "Penguins" "Bet Your Loaf" and stuff with Ricky May. They are coming! They are being converted to dvd as we speak. Hopefully they will be ready next week! :-) Stay Tuned.
@johnm9billion They can't. If they remade it it would sook like all other remakes. They can't replay it either because they short sightedly wiped all the tapes.
Penguins at 00:43 almost bring a tear to me eye. Ahh the memories of being momentarily paralysed wih laughter as they filled their dear little buckets.
Good ole fashioned state-based rivalry - even though QLD always seemed to win, the buggers! Go Vic (and WA now) and good on ya Tassie for giving it a red-hot go in your green uniforms.
I was a little too young to comprehend the concept during it's original run. However, I watched the re-runs in the early 1990's and it was enjoyable viewing. I too want it back, and no need to overly modernise it (otherwise we may as well just have FNL). Network 10 please show the series. Fremantle Media (who bought out Grundy's), please release on DVD. Someone, please put some clips on here. Thanks.
Saludos
Whilst the opening credit is all good and well, have you ever thought of downloading the episodes from 1985 - 1987 which contain slippery events (which involve the red plastic sheet) as well as events that men and women had to compete in barefeet.
Happened to live in Australia at that time, and there was a re-run in 1994 (I think). I remember having to get up early Saturday morning to watch the show. But really enjoyed it.
Holy shit I haven't thought about this show since I was 8 or so! I reckon I've STILL got the board game lurking around in the back of a wardrobe at Mum's place...
Have just seen that Ch7 is running auditions and is going to resurrect Gladiators! Come on, Ten ... if Seven can do that, then you can bring back It's A Knockout!!
Oh man the memories! This was the highlight of my week as a kid, go Victoria! Plus seeing all those gum trees at the start almost made me get a bit teary, I think I've been living abroad for too long...
I remember as a kid loving IAK. Our whole family would watch IAK on Sunday nights after dinner and watch IAK. I have very fond memories of the show. I agree 10 should show it again. Take off some reality tv that is boring now and put on some old classics like IAK.
There's a petition floating around the net to bring this back. I was 12/13 when the original eps (not the reruns) were airing, and I can remember our family LOVED sitting down together to watch this!! Excellent Sunday night entertainment (beats 60 Mins etc.). Come on, Ch10 - listen to the viewing public for a change and resurrect It's A Knockout with new hosts, new competitors, same games and new charities to support!
Why not spread the word and make this our YouTube petition to revive it's a knockout? Come on Channel 10! I'd watch... and I'd compete given the chance! It was extremely popular when axed and you only chopped it because of venue problems... easy solved, make it at Dreamworld's water park !!!
I was a competitor in the second year of It's a Knockout - 21 years ago. Great fun, could be dangerous at times but what a blast and made some great friends. Very fond memories of Ellen and Shandell! Checkout Andrew Gray's website 'Its a knockout' for more info.

There's too much cinicism on tv today, not enough innocent fun. I miss hey hey and YTT too (cept for the last 6 months of each when they became truly sad indeed thanks to budget cuts!)
