mine on my 95 had even more play then that one dose...it was bad! lol i now have a SMF on and no noise at all with some royal purple oil in the tranny :)
Very true, and most of the old powerstrokes had this problem, it seems that the little nylon parts that locate the springs wear causing a miss alignment and breaking the springs
@maersklandro Ford designed the DMF to absorb the torque spikes created by the diesel engine and hush the gear rollover noise. IMHO, if they put ZF5's with the SMF in Mercedes-powered buses rated at 500+lb/ft of torque, the same tranny in a pickup would do just fine. The NHTSA and also the automakers have NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) levels to contend with when dealing with the consumer, so it's really our own fault we get crap factory parts.

This does not happen to ALL dual mass flywheels over time. Only the ones that are poorly made.
