This was a written and directed movie by John Singleton. Jody is a reflection of the matriarchal society within a society (the Black community). Whenever a young male is raised by women only with no positive male figures they usually will take on those emotional reactions that women in general responds to as in the case of Jody.

True! but you have to remember what happen, Melvin planted some weed & Jody's mother taught Jody did it & she came down on him hard but than when she founded out Melvin did it she act as though nothing happen.

That was wrong of her than, Melvin wasn't making the situation better by saying "I'm laughing at your spoil *ass" I always look at why somebody did what they did.
