  • I am a Christian and I adore Harry Potter. Harry Potter a FANTASY so it's not like I take the spells seriously. But I still love them and know a lot of them. :)

  • my english teacher, who is also a reverend wouldn't let her sons read Harry Potter because its about witches, and yet we study Macbeth. WTF?

  • she's so right!

  • How did Harry Potter become more religiously entwined than Lord of the Rings? LOTR talks about creation and afterlife. HP is just about witchcraft and magic.

  • I am 28 and I've been Wiccian since I turned ten years old. Being wiccian is nothing like people see on TV or in the movies! I have many friends who's religion is different from my own and I do respect that nor do I throw my religion at others! To me, a person religion should be private. I started reading Harry in my early 20's and I love them. Deep down, they are about having good morals and friendships not about religion! Get over it people and let kids read!

  • I badly wanted to see the sequels to the Golden Compass.

  • It really says a lot when Christians see Harry Potter as legitimate competition.

  • To ban Harry Potter books or movies is just stupid.

  • I hate people who think that this is evil because it has magic in it. They simply ignore the many good and Christian morals within the series.

  • The other thing is that it is an excellent book series, so why not just enjoy is as such and leave the debate to the weird people with funny hats?

  • I agree. Banning something is the quickest way to get it read.

  • lol people are tripping. she's an atheist right? like pretty much every other white person in uk.

  • @Rachulie Shes believes in God actually. She said it herself. So shes Christian.

  • @13LuciusArchangel even though believing in god doesnt make u one religion, yeah she was wearing a cross i saw so...

but christianity, like, actually believing in christianity is very rare in uk

  • @Rachulie If u believe in God and Christ then ur a christian, not exactly christian as in the religion christian seperated from catholic but christian as in christ-tian, follower of christ. And yea i know cuz i believe in God but im not much of a christian or catholic. and really?? i thought the UK was full of protistant christians?? O_o

  • @13LuciusArchangel most ppl are agnostic or atheist. ppl say they are christian but just by name, they dont believe in that stuff. europe has the highest rate of non-religious ppl i know of. in nordic states 80% or more dont believe in god.

  • @Rachulie wtf u serious?? and i thought that part of the worl has the most religoius population in a way!! :O

  • @13LuciusArchangel NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO way! lol. very non-religious. even many many of the ones who checked "christian" etc on their surveys are agnostic or atheist. and thats just uk. im not sure they are that confused in europe lol. here they dont understand what religion even is. it's not a gym membership hah. check out demographics. in sweden 85% are non believers in any diety

  • @Rachulie lol damn thats crazy. i didnt even know that

  • religious freaks... scary

  • its DEFENCE AGAINST the DARK ARTS!! If Harry Potter was the devil then it woud just be Dark Arts

  • Its pretty sad that these people have so little faith in their own religion that they truly believe a childrens book is any competition....

  • I don't know who sad it but if your choice is church or harry potter-ism it doesn't speak well for the church.

  • OK do people just look for things to bitch and whine about

  • @BeepBros yes, yes they do.

  • god isn't real by the way.

  • @greenghost2008 ok dude i respect your opinion and religion or whatever your belifs are but that was random

  • But Satain Rituals is the best class at Hogwarts.

  • I have no religion whatsoever and i believe that banning books because of religious stuff is like burning pomegranates because its the fruit of Hades , and let me tell ya, me luvs me pomegranates.

  • @warwickforever

you are a silly one! lol :]

  • I'm an atheist and i loved this book. Banning books should just be called what it really is, content control.

  • @Dragonsrule61388

Lol I NEVER seen anyone post 10 comments in a row at once

(btw your on my good side for such a good urine name *thumbs up*

  • omg i just thought that demontors could be devils and protroneses could be like god with god warding off deamons ha in your face dad

  • that battle between cristianity and wichcraft has gone on long enough each has its bad side. i wish the 2 could live in peace but untill then i ay screw you to anny "priests" that say witch craft of anny kind is bad alot of witch craft is purley for spirtual inhansment. fuck evan my dad wants me to move on to some thing else. im a christian and i aproove of witchcraft and wisardry of anny kind. (crowd applawds for OCLOVER96 and MY speech

  • @dragonsrule61398 witch craft isn't even witch craft (as it says in the bible) it's basically a kind of paganism.

  • that battle between cristianity and wichcraft has gone on long enough each has its bad side. i wish the 2 could live in peace but untill then i ay screw you to anny "priests" that say witch craft of anny kind is bad alot of witch craft is purley for spirtual inhansment. fuck evan my dad wants me to move on to some thing else

  • really?

  • religion always telling people what is right and what is wrong, if i wanna read the best book ever written by the most talented author in the world i ain't finna be stopped

  • @Kratos8462 ROCK ON WITH YA ALL THE WAY

  • CONTINUED: Then Hermione tells him that it means living beyond death ... living after death.

Harry has never been introduced to Jesus. But that does not mean that the book isn't Christian. That particular chapter is so beautiful because Harry is unsure and afraid, unaware that a power far greater than magic is at work at that moment.

Some people are so shallow. Learn to judge by what's under the skin, rather than what's on the surface.

  • @VOLDEMORThasrisen first of all do you support voldemort becaue i made a flip note on my dsi about me kicking him in the nut if he still has em because he's soo mutated and second that chapter always makes me cry i almost cryed in the middle of school because of it that means its a good chapter

  • @dragonsrule61398 shoot i made a pelling error i ment to spell nuts

  • @VOLDEMORThasrisen couldnt have said it better myself :)

  • @VOLDEMORThasrisen - You are aware that there are hundreds of religions that believe in life after death. Why would talking about life after death have anything to do with Christianity?

  • @WillShakespeare2007 Yes, I am aware of that, but seeing as Rowling is herself Christian, the fact that life after death - in Heaven, the Heaven of the Trinity of the Christian faith - is a theme in this book has everything to do with Christianity. In other contexts talking about life after death could well refer to any other religion.

  • @VOLDEMORThasrisen I'm sure Harry has been exposed to the idea of Jesus, he was raised in the muggle world.

But I don't know what you mean about the book being Christian. Take from it whatever you want to, I guess, but it seems like a very faith-neutral book to me.

  • @GuacamoleKun You're right that it is sort of faith-neutral, but as I'm Christian, and as JK Rowling is Christian, I sort of tend to think of it that way. I guess, me being Christian, I saw a lot of the values I was brought up with in Harry Potter. But you're right.

  • @VOLDEMORThasrisen or how about we don't judge at all :)

  • @HoneyAndSulfur1991 That is nonsense, we are always judging things. You need to judge people because how do you know who to trust? Otherwise, give me all of your money, tell me your deepest and darkest secrets, and make sure you tell me where you sleep so I can visit you anytime I want. If you don't then I will have to say that you are judging me.

  • @rangers94ism your an idiot, is that enough judging for you?

  • @HoneyAndSulfur1991 I'm right and you know it.

  • @HoneyAndSulfur1991 You may have a point.

  • @VOLDEMORThasrisen How does Harry have a godfather, namely Sirius Black, if he has never been introduced to Christianity?? How did he know to mark Moody's grave with a cross, as opposed to a pentagram??

  • @EpiphoneArchtopLover I meant that Christianity had never been a big part of his life. As whoever it was had pointed out before, of course he was EXPOSED to it. I was thoughtless on that count. But I think I'm right in saying that he was never very involved with it. His confusion at Hermione's mentioning living after death in the graveyard proves that. Don't take offence, okay?

  • @VOLDEMORThasrisen No offence taken!!

  • @VOLDEMORThasrisen

I'm sorry, but why the hell would anyone care whether Harry Potter, the character, is a christian?

It's a fantasy world. Can we please have someone create a fantasy world without having to hear from religious people about how their religion is featured in the books?

  • @iOnlyHaveThisForWoW Personally, I don't care all that much. Obviously, some people do, however, and if you don't like it, please don't visit a video called 'Harry Potter and Religion'.

It's inevitable that a book as great as Harry Potter is going to be involved in this sort of religious dispute, especially after JK Rowling's numerous assertions that the book actually does have Christian background.

I intensely hate getting into arguments, so can we please not turn this into one?

  • People need to look beyond the surface. Sure, Joanne writes about magic! But it's not what appears in the books, it's the meaning that lies behind what appears. Any fool can see that Harry Potter is a beautiful, Christian book with virtues such as love, friendship and bravery. And whoever's read the last book will know that she even includes a quote from the Bible! Harry sees "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death" on his parents' tombstone, and thinks it's a Death Eater idea.

  • The people who think Harry Potter promotes witchcraft obviously haven't read the books.

  • Yes you learn a lot about love and friendship but ghosts who live in school everyone is a wizard or a witch, pupils who are teached to look in the future nothing about that is good just read the bible

  • @JesusIsMyLoord But ghosts and magic aren't REAL, sweetheart. FAKE.

  • @siblingforsale whos to say there not oooh burn

  • @siblingforsale

Many people believe in ghosts and magic, I, for one of them do.

  • Just for the record Christmas is a pagan holiday so witches celebrating it does not give a good argument. Now if they sat in front of manger instead of a tree the we could make that argument.

  • Personally I think Christians should focus on making great books similar to the popularity of with a Christian twist. Last time I check my bible there is more supernatural activity going on in there than any book JK Rowling wrote.

  • How is Twilight ok but Harry Potter is not?????

  • @JakeU06 Twilight was written for an older audience which are not considered very impressionable. Also the books didn't have much popularity until after the movies. Twilight also promotes abstinence which goes well with parents. Vampires in books and movies were way to common before Twilight, so any the complaining and protesting went on years before Twilight had been written.

  • @ProphetGuardian

That may be so. But you could also say that the concept of wizards has also been around much longer than Harry Potter, but that never defused the situation. While Twilight may promote abstinence, Harry Potter never condones sexual behavior, but actually promotes other virtues, such as love and friendship. And as for being written by an older audience, I would have to say that is entirely false. Just ask any preteen girl.

  • @JakeU06 Yes wizards and witches have been around but they have always been shown in a negative light. When an author rights a book they focus it on a particular age group. Though people who aren't within those age groups. For example I know a 14 year old that read the Davinci Code and I know a 40 year old that has read Twilight. The Davinci Code is marketed towards adults 30 and up. Twilight is marketed to teens 15-17.

  • @JakeU06 Truthfully the whole Christian protest I think was a publicity scheme created by JK's publishers to market the book. No one ever complained about Goosebumps, Sabrina or Charmed.

  • What about the name Parvati?

  • i would also like to know: if they ban books, i think children will have the feeling to rule over the school rules... lol. they might form some army of students to attack them. theres NOTHING wrong with books going away from religion. its the enjoyment of books and the religion we choose. and i'm a christian and he says he gave YOU the choice to choose which religion

  • Banning it would be stupid.

    It is a book.

And I never really understood this whole hatred of withcraft in books. I mean, sure in the book (which is fictional, in case you didn't notice) they do have an evil wizard, but they also have good wizards as well.

The highest rated comment says "people need to be more open minded."

Funny! Seeing as you aren't open minded enough to use a LOGICAL argument instead of saying god gave you the ability to do it.

  • i thought they said "merry christmas" in the movie i didnt know they said happy christmas

  • ban hp? i'll kill myself...

  • banning Harry Potter is like banning air...

  • Let them try to bann it world wide....I would predict a real WW3 one in which fanatics would face intellectuals...and I think I know who is going to winn that one...

  • ya harry potter must be evil, it teaches witchcraft.

?? but then what are miracles?

  • @AceofDimonds0 Have you read the books? Do you know anything about the actual faith of Pagan or Wica? I can tell you it dosn't involve waveing a stick around and saying funny words!!

  • *Sigh* Harry Potter is a Christian Allegory, I do believe Rowling even said so herself. Think about, Voldemort = Lucifer, common theme "serpent." Harry dies and is ressurected. Coincidence? I think not! Rowling is a damn good writer and an even better Christian.

  • @glambring0 YES!

  • @glambring0 waitwat? this sounds like the whole 'you cant disprove god so therefore god exists' argument, 'you cant prove the book isnt christian so therefore it is'.. 'oh and here's a lose quote that i applied personal interpretation too' but sure if u wanna go down that road.. Voldemort can in fact represent religious people in that he fears death as a religious person does and the resorts to irrationality to avoid it, and the ensuing chaos very much like war caused by religion today

  • When i said love i mean read btw sorry my brain wasnt working lol!

  • I am a Christian and i am a huge Harry Potter fan. I love the books about 10 times each and they are fine. I do agree with what arreisenlaluz9 said. these books are fine to read and the films are good too! i cant wait for the final film!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm a christian, and i love God, let me say that first... have you READ the last book? i mean, come on, he gives his life to defeat evil so his friends and the entire world can live free. now, i know Rowling may not have meant that as allegory, but it looks like it to me. Jesus died to defeat evil so we could live free... its an allegory for redemption!

  • @arreisenlaluz9 exactly!

  • @arreisenlaluz9 Thanks for spoiling, i didn't read the book, waited for the film...

  • im a catholic, and i am a border-line obsessed harry potter fan lol. its all stupid anyone above the age of 12 should realise its not real and those under are innocent and its nice they beleive in magic, but its just wonderment it wont affect anyone or harm anyone

  • lol so if the harry potter films/books arnt very christian ? this is all fantasy, this is not the real life, dont take Harry Potter serius

  • p.s. I`m Christian myself and read the books carefully, being sceptical at first of their artistic value; however, I think they aren`t encouraging occultism any more than some medieval fairytale.judge for yourselves

  • im sorry christians are creeps, the way the believe themselves to be so right, they give me the creeps, i know many are normal peope, but many christians give me the creeps

  • Auszie, I absolutely agree. You can't serve God and Satan and Harry Potter is simply rich with occultic lore and Satanic happenstance and those lead astray cannot claim love for God, since Satan hates God as do all the children of Satan.

  • are you joking, or do you really believe tht shit

  • Ok, I understand your views;but let`s put t this way: EVERYTHING in these books consists in symbols and images of witches, fantastic creatures, elements from folklore(!) and mythology that have always been known since the Middle Ages and even before. What Rowling did was to unite all these almost childish results of early human imagination (of course, supposing you DON`t believe in whitchcraft...) and give them life in her books. If some of you believe in dragons..then magic is inded possible.

  • Oh give me a break! the worst these books are going to do is make kids wear wizards costumes on halloween. If you read the book carefully you'll see that the witchcraft aspects really don't play the biggest role, and that Rowling is on the most part focusing on real emotions and experiences that relate to real everyday experiences. Rowling is not in any way encourage withcraft when she writes these books, she is simply expressing herself on very strong topics such as death and grieving.

  • You do realize you have no place debating this unless you've actually read Harry?

  • Yes it also states that your lord forgives those who are lead astray. So who actually goes to hell, is it those who commit certain sins only? I always wanted someone to explain this to me. I myself believe who ever created us loves us and gave us free will by his own choice as he created us and don't understand why he punishes us when he gave us free will. Christianity confuses me. :S

  • IT'S FICTION! One thing is being conservative, another thing is being just plain stupid and unevolved...

  • Witchcraft or WORSE!!!! I can't believe the narrator said that. Ok, I can but really? Witchcraft or worse?

  • Deathly Hallows, actually, is a bit of a spiritual journey, as Harry struggles with his image of Dumbledore as this all-knowing, all-powerful person . Dumbledore has a plan for the trio, has left them all these gifts to assist them, but Harry's starting to doubt Dumbledore. He speaks to Dumbledore on several occasions, even begs for help, and finds his questions are always answered.

It's an interesting way of analyzing book, but I believe J.K.R. promotes courage, love and compassion, secularly.

  • who cares if its a religious book or anti religious, its fictional

  • oh for goodness sake, why wont people lighten up a litttle??

  • Harry Potter is not evil! I'm a christain, i go to church and i belive in Christ, and Harry Potter is my all time favorite series. Ive heard people say that rowling belives in witchcraft andall the spells are real! Puh-leaze! Yeah if i wave a stick around and say lumos its really gonna light up. people need to be more open minded. God gave us these minds andimaginations, why not use them? And even if they did ban those books(which theyll never have the power to do) i will find a way to read them

  • It's ironic people say that; Rowling's a Christian herself. <3

  • I'm a Christian and I like Harry Potter too. I have mentioned before that even though Dan is an athiest, I have to keep praying for him and love him unconditionally like I do with other people weather they are beievers or not.

  • Daniel the person whoplays harry pottter is oh god some one pls punch me

  • He said so himself in an interview with esquire.

  • Give Me a link and what is a enthest?

  • think praying for him is gonna change God's mind about how to treat radcliffe? pretty pretentious of you, i dare say

  • @ocLoverr96

I am also a Christian, and I agree with you. I'd like to point out to all the Potte rhaters for religouse reason's, that the strongest power in the books is Love, and isn't that the founding of not just Christianity, but all faiths? This book preashes love, and in the end it's Not harrys magic that saves the world, it's his love for his firends and family. (I consider the Weasleys his family)

  • @ocLoverr96 hello,

i am christian to, and i also like Harry Potter.

BUT: i still think it's too narrow-minded to say that 'Harry Potter' is good or something. (Yes i read the books, they were awesome to!)

so it's pretty hard to give a fair comment on this one, 'cause it's an awesome book and movie, but it ain't right, no matter what you're saying.

  • @ocLoverr96 Same here, man! With you all the way!

  • @ocLoverr96 Yes, we have minds and imaginations. We even invented god.

  • @sgreen71778 @sgreen71778 Man didn't invent God. It was the other way around!

  • @sgreen71778 im not shure about in venting god but we did give him a name

  • @sgreen71778

    Really? We invented god? Evidence?

  • @ocLoverr96

I'm not a Christian, but my family is.

And i totally agree, there excists lots of mindless idiots out there.

There has even been an argument that the USB Symbol is the symbol of the devil.

Seriously, it's because of those idiots that makes people hate Christianity.

And yeah, i'm an Atheist but that dosen't mean i'm gonna hate Christians.

But i really wish some people would wake up and realize that...

    IT'S FANTASY, IT'S NOT REAL!

    It's a great fantasy series too :D

  • @TheAbridgedGamer

You're a respectful fellow to not hate Christians, because hate, disliking, and intolerance would not run this good world.

  • @ocLoverr96 Not that spell specifically, but witches and wizards are a serious concern in Christianity.

  • Now hang on, they're not just YOUR burden. Just this morning I actually got mugged by a gang of goblins...What, you don't believe in goblins?

  • @SirPwn4lot they shouldnt be like i said the 2 need to live in peaceand burry the hatchet

  • @ocLoverr96 i agree well i am not christian im muslim but i am still a HUGE harry Potter fan

  • @ocLoverr96

That's because they're more than sticks...

You need Unicorn Hair and Griffon Gizzards and things for the wands to work :P

  • @ocLoverr96 so lighting up a stick with enchantment is ridiculous, but talking snakes and turning water into wine is real? great...

  • @eleminatus

You're one disrespectful and intolerant person. Tell me, how did the world begin? Did nothing say nothing to happen to happen the Big Bang? If I explode bricks, it wouldn't make a house.

  • @GokzTT yes, I AM disrespectful to religious lunatics, cause i saw what you are capable of. First, take your time to research a topic you are arguing about, otherwise its pure ignorance. Second, big bang is not a literal explosion, more like inflation. Third, singularity is NOT nothing. Fourthly, brick is a man made construct, universe isnt. Houses ARE built, we all know it, but planets are NOT. Dont put them in the same niche. If you dont understand something, doesnt mean everyone doesnt!

  • @eleminatus

I'm not a religious lunatic, and don't blame me for what others have done, don't blame their religion either, blame their attitude. I was giving an example, a very clever example, either way it's still the same. I believe the universe to be of design, you don't, and you shouldn't stereotype all Christians or others to be the same, because that's like stereotyping that all blacks eat watermelon, or all yellows cannot drive good.

  • @GokzTT attitude? attitude comes from a set of beliefs that person accepts. You happen to possess some. Those beliefs tend to alter the actions of a person. Your example of design is a perfect example. Simply because you possess a certain belief, it makes you think that universe requires a designer. This conclusion is based on your religious beliefs. Science proves times and times again otherwise, but you just cling to this "attitude".

  • @eleminatus

No, we are born with attitude, whether good or ill, we even have attitude when we are babies, our wisdom is also an attitude. Science? Science proves this? Yes, it certainly does:

    Law of Thermodynamics:

"Something cannot be created out of nothing"

The universe cannot be created out of nothing, I believe there is a creator, I'm not a Christian, I am different than all you'll meet.

  • @GokzTT attitude is not something we are born with, however definition of "attitude" is irrelevant. When someones attitude is based on religion, many mistakes are made.

That not what any of laws say. You probably mean that energy and matter can not be created or destroyed. But you see, that applies to creator as well. So god can create something out of nothing, but natural laws cant?

There is plenty of evidence supporting big bang theory, however you still choose the creation!

  • @eleminatus

We are born with attitude, even as a baby screamiing. You are stereotyping again, people have different attitudes due to different religions, atheism is also another attitude, and there is bad atheism as well. You don't understand, there was something, not there was not nothing, there was God, and Heaven, as I said I'm not a Christian, I have different beliefs. Many believers, like me, do believe in the Big Bang as creation.

  • @GokzTT An attitude is a hypothetical construct that represents an individual's degree of like or dislike for something. Thats a definition. You cant have an attitude without something to base it on. Of course we all have attitudes, but they are all based on something. For example, persons attitude towards homosexuals will be different if he bases it on religion then someone who simply thought the issue through. Dont blame the attitude, blame the cause of that attitude!

  • @GokzTT an when you make an assertion like "there was something", you have to justify it! What are your beliefs then?

  • @eleminatus

My beliefs don't have a name.

  • @GokzTT but they have still have to be justified.

  • @eleminatus

No, I don't have to tell you my beliefs, it's my own freedom, you won't get it from me whether you threaten me or not. Why? What would an atheist do with it? An atheist yet has to explain why the big bang happened.

  • @GokzTT emmm.. i dont really care what your beliefs are. Im just saying they must be justified. Just like any other belief. By the way, atheism only deals with existence of god, big bang or any other scientific theory has nothing to do with it. Fortunately, majority of scientists are atheists.

We may never know WHY the big bang happened, but neither science nor religious community know at this point. Saying a god just snapped his fingers is intellectual dishonesty!

  • @eleminatus

That's not true, I can believe whatever I want. Also not most scientists are atheists,. Most scientists aren't atheist, they just aren't Christian. Not Christian does not equal Atheist. God did not snap his fingers, God is not a male, nor a female, God is an energy of life.

  • @GokzTT atheism is a disbelief in gods, so if you dont believe, you are an atheist. Just like if you dont eat meat, you are a vegetarian. And National Academy of Sciences is 93% atheists, among European scientists this number is even higher. And again - its not what you believe, its why!

You just made another unjustified assertion - God is an energy of life. Prove that! Just believing it does not make it true!

  • @eleminatus

Agnostic does not mean Atheist, in reality, we are all Agnostics, you are too, and so am I. That applies to you too, you believe in evolution but it will never be proven, unless there was someone who live for thousands of years to record the changes.

  • @GokzTT stop jumping from topic to topic. None of your claims are substantial, none of your assertions are justified. And now you started showing your ignorance. Evolution cant be proven? Have you even tried researching it? Do you know that evolution has practical applications? For crying out loud, read on the topic fist. Your claim sound silly - you dont need a living being to see the changes. Just research, please, before you make yourself look like a fool!

  • @GokzTT Agnosticism deals with the knowledge, or to be more precise, the lack of knowledge about gods. Meaning there are not enough info to claim one way or the other. So how can you be an agnostic if you believe in god?! I guess you should also get the definitions right!

  • @eleminatus

That is the truth, we all lack knowledge about gods and no-gods, so whether you like it or not you are an agnostic.

  • @GokzTT I never denied i wasnt!

  • @eleminatus

I do believe in God, but I don't know if God exists.

  • @GokzTT and you have no problems with this statement? Would you apply same logic to anything other supernatural, minotaur for example?

  • @eleminatus

There are still people who believe in Greek mythology, you should ask them.

  • @GokzTT you simply dont comprehend what im saying. Cant even answer a question directly. Only more and more unreasonable justifying. You said that you believe something without knowing if it exists. Would you apply same logic in your life for anything else supernatural? Can you answer that?

  • @eleminatus

I never answer questions directly, I speak wisely because there are still people who are Greek pagans. Yes, why not? I don't know if Odin or Thor exists, just as much I don't know if God exists.

  • @GokzTT Im done here! If you were wise you would know how to construct a conversation!

  • @eleminatus

You were the one who started it, you're the one who is ending it, good luck with that.

  • @GokzTT i never said all christians are the same, their beliefs are. Stereotypes are born from systematic behavior, christians have that as well. I also never said I blame you personally. I blame that same old belief system. To commit an action person needs a reason. Your beliefs provide plenty of them, however barely any are justifiable. Many minorities suffered and continue to, just because of those beliefs. So tell me again - why shouldnt I attack those beliefs?

  • @eleminatus

No, their beliefs are not the same either, there are different Christians as there are different Atheists. There is no reason for intolerance of others, only useless hate given by who knows. You shouldn't attack those beliefs because most- like me, won't attack your beliefs unless you do, like you have.

  • @GokzTT im not talking about details in beliefs here. Sharing a belief in god is good enough to be identified as a specific group. What stories or legends are built around that god is irrelevant. However all Abrahamic religions share same stories, since its based on bible. If you accept god of a particular book but not the body built around it, its called religious dishonesty. Im not trying to be intolerant, cause im not, im simply attacking beliefs that are detrimental to society.

  • i am christian orthodox but i do not believe tha harry potter is an anti religion book.come on we live in 2009 and such strict rules match in 1700.

  • Christian "ORTHODOX" should say it all, you swallow the came and strain at a gnat, why would you therefore strain at the camel of witchcraft. Don't let "christians" walking the broad and wide path fool ANY of you. True christian do not mix themselves up with stories (whether fictional or not) of the occult.

  • Ok I just want to say that religion causes more problems then it solves... think about all those wars..... people should just keep their religious beliefs to themselves. Like seriously when I read the books I wish I was going to hogwarts a learning spells, when I watch Lord of the Rings I wish I was in Rohan or Gondor. If that makes me evil well good on ya I guess I am evil!

  • I'm Christian, and I don't believe you're evil at all. I wished that the world of HP was real as well, and that the fantastic imagination of J.R.R. Tolkien was also real. I also think it's interesting to note that Tolkien was a Christian, and he even went as far as to put christian themes in his books. Though he admits, they were deeply embedded in there. And J.K. Rowling admits to believing in God as well.
