On the other hand, what does Greece can offer? Advance technology machinery design? No. Natural resources? No. Tourism? Yes. But your people are striking turning the place into a zoo. Paris - the place of joy and shopping Paris is doing not bad these days especially with the lower Euro. Asians love to to Paris because Paris always offer charm and enjoyment.

Germany has a larger population and more resources, Also they had their country subsidized by the U.S during the cold war and did not have the burden of having to pay for defense and the upkeep of a standing army, Germany did not have a military dictatorship during the 1960's and early 70's, Germany is not a unitary state but a Federal state that's more decentralized.
