@james1234434 You won't be able to find of these FURX engines now. They were made several years go. I can't post a link here, but just google "Atlas O" and you'll get their O-Scale site.
Everybody whose saying that it doesnt sound like an sd40 is because its lionels generic modern diesel sound for atlas. I have an Atlas mp15 and ha the same sounds, I'm happy with it though.
My current problem with the Atlas O SD40 is making sure the Speed Control is actually programmed so the SD40 does not speed down the track in a toy train manner.
In the end it is not really that much more expensive. It seems like it at first but when you factor in that it has a great(better than any HO) sound system the smoke and the great detail it is not much more than a comparible HO locomotive.
Scale size Atlas locomotives without sound and smoke go for around $180....not much more than HO.
I'm not crazy about the sounds, but then again I've never been in love Lionel's sounds (I'm not talking about Legacy, as I haven't sampled it yet). I like Atlas because of the way they look. Maybe one of these days I'll rip out the TMCC stuff and put in DCS and ProtoSounds instead. ;)
Awesome, i don't like lionel, they are like toys, i bought a CP freight set, and i made a huge mistake, the engine never works, if you don't have it at top speed, you can't hear the sounds...MTH is my new favorite!
I went to atlasrr.com and I didn't see an O-Scale product page... Eric, can you please give me the link to the Atlas O-Scale page? THX! :)

that doesnt sound anything like an SD40. I still dont like any of the sound units... They suck
EsPeSD40T 2 years ago
It sounds like a 567, although SD40s really have a 645 engine.

Great video!!
I don't know how I missed this one, but I'm glad I saw it
on your list.
Could you throw a few Artitsta figures in the wide frame
as your trains go by? It would really show off the scale.
Carry on, fearless leader!

CSX6000 3 years ago
me too. thats why i model n scale, i dont gots no monies!!!(or good grammar LoL) but seriously, i use my allowance for trains, so yeah.....

scale atlas locomotives go for about $350, and that is for a locomotive without all the good stuff we hi-railers can't live without
ogauge47 3 years ago
I bought this model from AM Hobbies. I pre-ordered it and it cost about $420.

if you all want prootypical go 2 rail, like i did. looks like HO only bigger, alot better than 3 rail
adam1234a 3 years ago
It's too late for that. Besides, 3-rail has better looking girls.
esiegel76 3 years ago
Ah, I am an HO man myself, I don't know much about O scale or O scale 3 rail
BNSF5608 3 years ago
Wow the sounds are terribly off prototype in this one, it sounds like a GP38-2. No sound of a turbocharger.
BNSF5608 3 years ago
It's because it has the standard Lionel Railsounds system in it.

same.

This is not a lionel engine, folks. It's an Atlas engine with Lioenl's TMCC command control inside.
esiegel76 4 years ago
i know.sorry.

I'm into prototype modeling in O scale and Lionel. The reason for the Lionel was probably because my Grandpa was in to it.

RailSounds always works best with clean track and the TrainMaster Command Control System.

i have the sd90 freight set
i love lionel!
