  • She is great !!!

  • Wow...I didn't expect her to have such a deep alto..She's adorable!

  • Just wonderful.

  • Beautiful....she makes me cry when she sings

  • Simply fantastic.

  • チャーミング!

    話すときのベイビーヴォイスと歌うときのアルトの差も魅力的ですね。

  • I think this is the woman who was on "The Courtship of Eddie's Father" in the 1960's - the Housekeeper I think... such a long time ago... & unlike her role in that programme, she sings beautifully here. Lovely!

  • @6A8G She was.

  • What a beautiful Alto voice!

  • ほれた!

  • I guess they kinda force her back then to do this naive, timid Japanese stereotype girl infront of the American audience at that time. But wow, what a voice...

  • i love her singing voice...

  • Miyoshi Umeki used to sing under the name of Nancy Umeki.

  • My name is hers

  • What do you mean? Is your name Miyoshi? Gisele? MacKenzie?

  • She was a night club singer also, as you can her from her singing, she was a talented woman.

  • Miyoshi was so cute! She was also a very good actress!

  • Gisele was on NBC's Saturday night schedule at 9:30pm(et), opposite CBS' "HAVE GUN- WILL TRAVEL" {which was why Gisele's series lasted only one season}. Jack Benny actually co-produced her series through his "J&M Productions" outfit.

  • Jack Benny turned one of his TV shows over to Gisele as an audition for Hit Parade, which was TV's most expensive audition. Thanks to Jack's help, and her wonderful gifts, Gisele got the job. By 1957 TV had become over populated with variety shows. Saturday alone had Lawrence Welk, Polly Bergen, Dean Martin, Hit Parade, Perry Como, etc., and folks were turning to the new TV fad of westerns! It was a shame, since Gisele was the most gifted entertainer to find his/her way to a TV series.

  • What a fantastic piece, thanks!

  • Mrs. Livigston died ?

  • In 2007

  • OMIGOSH! I did not know she died!

She will always be Mrs Livingston to me.

At least she is now reunited with "Mister Eddie's Father".

  • RIP Umeki-san.

  • What a lovely performance! Thanks so much for sharing. This is a favourite.

  • You will be missed Miyoshi-san. Thank you for the post.

  • ご覧変わらんその心 * How deep is the ocean, How high is the sky? How many times do I think of you? How many roses are sprinkled with dew? How far would I travel to be where you are? How far is the journey from here to a star? And, if I ever lost you, how much would I cry? How deep is the ocean? How high is the sky? *(O, please try to see the constancy [of] this heart!) Sayonara, Miyoshi-chan! jevalles
  • Unbelievable! This song was featured on Miyoshi's LP Miyoshi Umeki sings for Arthur Godfrey, and is one of her best, her rendered flawlessly. Perhaps lip-sinked, but nonetheless a perfect example of how she got her start in post-war Japan singing for American GIs.

  • I doubt if this was lip-synced! The production values on "The Gisele MacKenzie Show" were the best...Gisele's orchestra was that of Axel Stordahl, who featured LOTS of strings, as was also reflected on Gisele's RCA Victor album "Gisele" which was also arranged and conducted by Mr. Stordahl. June Hutton, Axel's wife, was a good friend of Gisele's, too!

  • The arrangement is Nelson Riddle's.

  • Yes, Nelson Riddle's arrangement, conducted by the great Axel Stordahl.

  • Beautiful

  • Two great gals. Thanks so much for sharing this!
