my acer aspire one D255 wont start. I got a message saying check cable connection! Exiting Intel PXE ROM. No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key. Something is wrong with the hard drive I could hear some clicking sounds but not anymore. Its a new netbook I went to install microsoft office then it froze and turned off to that black screen showing the above message. Please help me solve this problem.
Dude. I frigging love you. My acer has been down for months and it said something about a recovery cd that I could not find. Alt + f10 worked for me. Thank you so much.
Okay....so let me get this straight...I spent literally 16 hours straight trying to get this dumb malware out, tried Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware, etc., in safe mode and tried to format drives and tons of other stuff. I torrented 3 Windows XP disks, but the laptop didn't recognize any of it. And then I found out that all you had to do was press Alt and F10. FML.
Thanks for your support. It's been a great help because I tried to do the recovery with an external CD drive connected to the netbook itself first and I wondered about not getting any menu options after booting.
hi there, can you pls assist me in reinstalling back my acer system which has the erecovery program installed there. it got erased when my drive c was reformatted and i dont have a recovery disc. my netbook is acer aspire one d255.tnx

Is it possible for u to send me the file in your thumbdrive to me? My netbook Aspire One is down and i do not have the Recovery Disk. Will be really grateful.
Hi! I have got an Acer Aspire One, but It doesn't boot. It stops working at the 6:39 black screen with the white letters. If I try pressing f2 or f12, it stills freezes. I don't have Windows installed so I can't fix it by pressing Alt+f10. I've also tried recovering the BIOS, but It doesn't work either. I think It doesn't recognize USBs so, do you think this recovery of yours could solve my problem?? thanks for your help

@pooboy6666 For the AspireONE the default user is without admin rights, so the password is unknown ... you should use SUDO command from prompt or install applications you can find from acer-euro . com ftp website.

hiya, after looking for ages i found the recovery cd. After following the intructions i managed to create a usb, but after pressing f12 it wasn't there in the list. so i formatted the usb and tried again. Now it says you have created your usb recovery when plugged it is recognised but nothing loads up. so i started up the acer and checked under the usb and its completely empty, how can that be if the cd says you have successful created your usb.. when i bought my acer notebook im not sure if i got a cd i dont remember. but if i did and cant find it would i be able to get it from a store? what can i do?
@123abc869 If you bought a Windows version - you didn't. To recover you just press ALT + F10 when booting up. If you lost it you can either hunt down the Linux file on the web or simply contact Acer support center.
@WhatTheFeatherTV HAHAHAHA. Good point but when I made this video, that was a big(gish) number. I tried it on a 512MB key and failed. That's why I made the comment so no-one else would have to...
I can't find the website so can you send me a link to me so I can watch or read how to do it. Because I want to play windows games on but there is one fuckin problem Linux only knows how to play videos music and photos my aspire one is the zg-5

I have seen your video and I had a problem when I tried following the steps to recover my dead Acer Aspire One:
When my computer reboots with the recovery CD inserted, the screen shows the same as on 2:08, BUT when I push the 'Create Recovery USB' option, it suddenly freezes on the 2:14 screen. The white bar doesn't load and I have to switch off the computer.
I know you are very busy, but can you help me? What is the problem?
hi i followed your instructions have the usb when recovering but it wont install it reboots after i click ok you said it take 20 min it wont copy please help
Your video is excellent and very easy to use however I am having a sereious issue. When I insert the 4gb flash card into the usb (powered off!) and then followed by the cd, Using your instructions the disc will go through to option 2 where it asks you to back up using a USB. Click 2 and proceed. It then takes me to the Acer one screen with the loading bar at the bottom. Thats it. It doesnt goto the bit where it asks you the USB port to send it to etc.. Can you help??
@2010dragonsden From Acer support: ""Select partition" is not a normal message because with Recovery for Linpus there are no partitions to recover as it recovers all the SSD. So probably you have partitioned the SSD space. To recover it now you have to clean all partitions first"
@TheAcerGuy@TheAcerGuy How do you do this? I have Linux4one currently installed and would like to recover Linpus Lite but am getting the same error. Please Help I'm so confused!
I followed your instructions and created a recovery USB flash drive. I inserted the USB drive and went as far as ``select partition`` and when I pressed ok button to
continue the computer went back to the welcome screen. Can you tell me what I did wrong
Dude thanks the vid helped, as it took me a while because it kept stopping at 56% or something like that, but without this vid i wouldnt have my laptop back lol
I got the recovery disk created without a problem, but when I tried to boot Acer Aspire One (Linux)from the flashdrive, it just comes up as usual. I don't get the page you indicated asking for language etc. My internet connection is messed up from when I tried to update Firefox and I just want to start over with the original settings. Suggestions?
Thank you so much for the very helpful video, would I be able to use my desktop computer and disconect the hardrives in order to create the usb recovery drive, while not messing up my computer.
PLEASE HELP ME!!! I have an Aspire One d 250 that I bought this holyday season with windows 7 preinstalled on it and when I want to use the webcam, it says that it doesn't detect any video capture device on the system. What should I do?
Did this and it fritzed the partition table of my second HD in the windows PC I used. Am four days into recovering the data from it, so am not amused.
I did this on my PC and it fritzed the partition table of my second hard drive, EVEN though I immediately selected the Install from USB option. Have spent the past four days slowly recovering all the data from it - it was an 90% full 1.5 TB hd, so I am mightily pissed off.
So - we have an unuseable Acer Aspire and an angry old man as a result of doing this.
Hi, we have a little Acer One Linux version, basically it's stuck. It has a small image on it that looks like a brightness symbol that says the item is not configured. Also the menu bar at the bottom left has disappeared. We've tried the Acer website wich is useless, we've lost the cd that come with the comp. Any idea's mate? As you can probaly tell I am completely computer illiterate.
Here's hoping you can help, Thanking you in anticipation, Brian.
OK Our litle Acer Aspire One Linux has a small window on it, it looks like a brightness symbol. It says this item is not yet configured. There is no mini-bar appearing at the right bottom corner. We have lost the recovery disc. Is there anyway we can get the computer back to original spec, the Acer website is hopeless. We have tried to download a remedy without success, as you can seeI don't talk computer ! Anyway it would be nice if you could help. Thanks & Regards Brian. Thanks 4 your help.
@kalengu Hi there: The easiest solution here is to go to your local Acer website (you're in UK right?) and look for the closest call center for you. Call them and ask for a CD.
There are other alternatives (downloading it from file sharing sites, for example) but that's a lot more complex and I wouldn't recommend it.
@GSHINE220 The answer is the same as everyone else. To reset a Windows-based Acer computer to its factory default settings: Press ALT + F10 the moment you see the Acer logo when you turn it on. That will launch e-Recovery and you can reset it from there. YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING ON YOUR HARD DRIVE so save your files to an external drive before you do this OK?
hey man thanks soo much i didnt do the exact method u did instead i brought a external usb disk drive but i used your method there with f 12 and the selection process thanks for a top notch video keep up the good work m8
@geordiewatcher Thanks for letting me know it worked. You're right I guess: it *is* easy once you know how, even if you still have to jump through flaming hoops to do it. £30 saved. Brilliant.
now if only ALL laptops came with this option. The Acer Aspire 1410 does not have an optical drive but the Acer eRecovery DVDs require booting from an optical drive; and does not include an option to install the recovery software to a USB flash drive. I've even tried manually copying the DVDs to a flash drive which does actually boot; however after a few steps in it still asks to insert the original recovery dvds instead of copying the files from the flash drive it just booted from. RIDICULOUS
may you help me my acer aspire one windows xp got a virus and idk how to do the process where you return things to factory default because this is different from my HP pc where it saids press f10 for factory default or something so yeah may you please help?
@tsaelite The answer is the same as everyone else.
@TheAcerGuy thank you it doesnt matter for me because my acer aspire one is just my internet watching videos on youtube or do random stuff thing thank you for helping me
@TheAcerGuy i tried this and it wont go into e-recovery... matter of fact it didn't even do anything... it just asks me if i wanna boot in safe mode and all that crap... then it'll start gimme a blue screen which i cant even read an then reboots an does it all over again.... think u can get me passed this crap?
@TheAcerGuy I know the steps to restore the Acer to default by pressing ALT + F10 but let´s say that I want to go back to Windows XP after installing Win7. I am wondering if the option software ALT + F10 eRecovery will still available after installing Win7? How I can create these Factory Recover disks?
if you don't mind i a quick q? to you or anyone else reading this. now where do i get the windows 7 starter if there was no CD with my acfer labtop. is there a webstie or what?
i have a aspire one with windows 7 starter it is a acer product how can i restore it to factory settings without saving anything i want it like it was brand new plz help thanks theacerguy
@FunAndJokes Press ALT + F10 the moment you see the Acer logo when you turn it on. That will launch e-Recovery and you can reset it from there. YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING ON YOUR HARD DRIVE so save your files to an external drive before you do this OK?
hi, i was wondering if you know a lot of graphics. If you do please respond. I need technical support because i think the graphics on my laptop are not up to par. You see i have an acer aspire 5739g-6959 with the nvidia 240m card. So i was playing "left for dead" and i keep getting fps of 30s. Why is that?? i read that i should be getting 70+. My windows experience index says i have a score of 4.5. Please help if you know how to fix this graphic issue!!!!!! Wasted 2 years of my money into this
Morris says: "It depends more on the screen refresh rate that is locked at 60Hz so, the maximum should only be 60 (realistically, you will see 57-9 rarely actually 60. Performance is also dependent on the resolution you are running, 240m is only a 128bit card, it is very limited, the lower the bit, the bigger the performance hit on different resolutions.
I have HD3650, overclocked too, and 6.4 in windows index score. I still can't run left 4 dead per

Hi TheAcerGuy!

Hi Acer Guy,
Your video is excellent and very easy to use however I am having a sereious issue.

I followed your video instruction and created a recovery usb flash drive. I inserted it
into my acer aspire one and was only able to go as far as ``select partition``, when I
push the ok button the screen went back to the welcome screen. Can you tell me
what I did wrong
2010dragonsden 1 year ago
@2010dragonsden From Acer support: ""Select partition" is not a normal message because with Recovery for Linpus there are no partitions to recover as it recovers all the SSD. So probably you have partitioned the SSD space. To recover it now you have to clean all partitions first"

Did this and it fritzed the partition table of my second HD in the windows PC I used. Am four days into recovering the data from it, so am not amused.
JeremyP999999 1 year ago
BEWARE!!!!!!

Thanks 4 your help.
kalengu 1 year ago
@kalengu Hi there: The easiest solution here is to go to your local Acer website (you're in UK right?) and look for the closest call center for you. Call them and ask for a CD.
There are other alternatives (downloading it from file sharing sites, for example) but that's a lot more complex and I wouldn't recommend it.

@GSHINE220 The answer is the same as everyone else. To reset a Windows-based Acer computer to its factory default settings: Press ALT + F10 the moment you see the Acer logo when you turn it on. That will launch e-Recovery and you can reset it from there. YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING ON YOUR HARD DRIVE so save your files to an external drive before you do this OK?

now if only ALL laptops came with this option. RIDICULOUS

Morris says: "It depends more on the screen refresh rate that is locked at 60Hz so, the maximum should only be 60 (realistically, you will see 57-9 rarely actually 60. I have HD3650, overclocked too, and 6.4 in windows index score. I still can't run left 4 dead per
