  • @Robinzorz I think what's more important is what you think about it, rather than what he and others think. Art is a gift, an offering, a connection, and sharing that respects you rather than tells you. It's an invitation and platform to explore yourself. Explore his words from your perspective and see what comes... what you discover in them will give you far more than his or anyone else's explanation. ...

  • I like how Saul appreciates all these other forms of art and expression, but jumps in and completely blows up the place within 4 sentences.

  • saul williams is one of the few people who has unlocked his third-eye .. he speaks directly to the subconscious ..

  • i love how he claps for himself at the end haha

  • @TheMCDKrew it is a sign of Humility, to not just sit and be clapped for but to clap for those who clap for you because those who seek a higher state of consciousness deserve applause as well and he understands, better yet, practices this necessity.

  • 20 dislikes? Seriously?

  • @funky2flavor They just don't understand. Some people would rather eat junk food even when presented with a gourmet meal. ;o)

  • @DeMarPicaso Merry Christmas, Hanoukha or Kwanzaa ;)

  • Saul is a serious warrior, Long live Idrin Saul williams

  • 'In between the rise and set of you and I

May blue visions know the depths of liquid skies'

Some of the greatest words of poetry I have ever heard, Truly beautiful to their core.

  • I love Saul Williams, but doesn't everyone sit there with video cameras on either side of the room to video tape in case you spit a fat rhyme while your friends facerape you? Whatevs

  • He is effortlessly blowing me away....pewwww

  • My favorite version of this thanks again. And again

  • This still gives me chills, even after watching it 100 times.

  • @endbringer1 I'd say the bald guy behind her is trying harder :)

  • the smartest man on the planet

  • i feel as though he portrays much passion and his focus, concentration, rhythm and choice is words that flow together so purely seems so natural. this is one of the most inspirational spoken poetry ever.

  • I would have to say that my words seem meaningless after listening to this, some of the most admeral shit ive ever heard. truely jaw dropping

  • @mrteachout … One way I see that is that what he gave and shared with you, with all the love and work and everything he put into it, gave you a little cleansing, and opening, wiping away some of the extra junk we all have, and letting you be in a more pure space and energy, more ready, able and free to connect with the universe through yourself.

  • @mrteachout He would never let you get away with thinking your words were meaningless, and make sure you know all of his words are supporting and enhancing the power and meaning of your words. I had a similar feeling, and sounds like a lot of people did, after listening to and watching this, where you're just blown away by it's brilliance and left kind of frozen and empty for a moment. ...

  • My mans Saul rip it..........spoken from experience

  • Words seem hard to use now...phenomenal...

    Thank you

  • i get chills every time i hear this and yes the girl next to him so wants to rip his clothes off and have him right there

  • He seems to be entranced, as if he had to undergo some type of deep meditation process in order to conjure up such a combination of words. It's as if he separated himself from every earthly restraint and allowed something else access to his person.

  • @faithsreality You took the words out of my mouth, but i could not have said it in such a beautiful, graceful you did.

  • @faithsreality something else no..his spiritual self yes lol

  • hmm it makes sense that saul is friends with ken wilbur

  • experiencing psychedelics will help you understand where he's coming from. At least for me it does.

  • how did he remember all of this? that was like five pages of lyrics...amazing!

  • Saul Williams is an AMAZING poet. He has so much talent. People say the dumbest shit on youtube comments sometimes. He's not really a rapper. he's an artist. he's being creative... are we allowed to do that now a days? or are we confined to bull shit music like p- diddy, kanye west , or that Reggaeton cult garbage that has poluted the latin community. we need more revolutionary people like him. more people who speak from the heart.

  • like.....what do you say after you hear a poem like that?

  • 1:59 : "They are our children. Playing chess on the sun burnt backs of one-eyed-turtles"?

Crazy kids! Get offa those one-eyed-turtles' sun burnt backs!

  • Who is the lady on his left?

  • I'm quite annoyed i was looking forward to this video all day after a colleague sent me a link entitled "probably the best raper of all time" and i get hit with this.No sexual harassement of any kind.

  • Saul Williams has several variations of this poem. All of which are incredible, but this version has to be my favorite. It's resonated with me for so many years, that I ended up tattooing his words: "Children of the night. Only some will star the sky. Only believers in death will die." in Tibetan script around my wrist. lol. His poems are too dense to be "bumper sticker" worthy and just take a line or two, but I feel those lines birthed the rest of the poem. Just my opinion of course. :)

  • @igotssssoul Do you have the lyrics for this?

  • @igotssssoul Do you have the lyrics for this?

  • @igotssssoul depends what the rest of your car is like..

  • This is what happens when you ask the most extraordinarily man on the planet what he has on his mind. Saul Williams will never fail to truly show a beauty in words. Forever keep our experience of your incredible talent alive, and I will forever thank you for it. Great work.

  • this is crazy, great poet!

  • this was the best thing i've ever seen.

  • 18 people must have raped children and now they feel quilts after seeing this thats why they dislike this. looooooosssseeeeerrrrssss

  • He is AMAZING!!!

  • gave me chills...

  • Spoken like a true poet. Sheer genius.

  • Cat Punk agrees.

  • Cat Punk agrees.

  • so so beautiful

  • ahhh

  • Amazing

  • Anyone can rhyme, but to rhyme with the conviction, immediacy and depth as Saul is very rare to find.

  • the humor of the weird bald dude takes impact away from the poem a little bit. they should have blurred him out or something.

  • The fact that he remembered it all and doesn't slip up is amazing. He is amazing.

  • its like he's reading the dictionary ever word is so intricate

  • This man is absolutely brilliant!

  • no other poet compares

  • That was absolutely amazing.

    It was moving.

  • Only believers of death will die

  • I like saul williams, but this confuses me so much.

  • Wow! what an awesome Brother!

  • This is 1 of my favorite pieces of Saul's. I put it to a beat on a remix, check it out if u have time.

  • This brotha always kills it

  • awaken brothers.

    awaken.

    peace,love,respect

  • Anyone want the lyrics to this, PM me your email and I'll send it to you. I can't PM it, though, because it's too long. So I have to send it as an attachment.

  • I've already checked out the greatest poet and rapper alive; his name is Saul Williams.

  • This is my favourite poem of all time.

  • Every time I watch this I wind up clapping at the end too! Can't be helped.

  • This is so powerfull, the hairs on my arms stands up, and I feel a shiver down my spine when I hear Saul Williams speak. He is out of this world.

  • He is better than ALL of you (directed at the people at that gathering)

  • At poetry, especially.

  • "He is better than ALL of you (directed at the people at that gathering)"

Well, hence the intense appreciation after his excellent recitation.

  • The collection "The Seventh Octave" has a "written" version of this poem.

  • That bald guy is in love with him.

  • If I were there, I'd be staring at Saul the exact same way. This poem is magnificent.

  • HAHAHA LOL I never noticed the bald guy before! He's probably in love with Saul's full head of hair.

  • hahaha right

  • Does anyone know where i can get a written version of this poem?? Please, i really need one.

  • Partially. Saturn is his daughter, and when he says "but my orbit rainbows Saturn's rings... And now I'm a fish called father" I think he is talking partially about that.

    But I agree, it's more.

But this is literally the best poem I have ever heard, I think.

  • Ok! What the heck is he talkin about lol

  • Tune into your soul for the answer. Individuals that are beyond this place is thought and spirit are capable of this. I don't think that it can't truly be defined what he is speaking or feeling of... it's so many things at once but mostly it's moving and beautiful. Keep coming back!

  • "let visions learn not your desrevings, piles stones to unearth anceint learnings, see self as the ghost of your servings, if your serving the father there is no sun without mother, parent bodies discover water bodies and drown. way deep in the water till Atantis is found" now that is poetry

  • This Cat is a Bad Dude awesome! Wow is the correct word for this brother! awesome!

  • This is why this video is still on my fav list..this is profound..wow

  • its about becoming a father

  • wow

  • WHO Is PETER

  • wow!

  • Damn, Not even missing a beat!

  • if the children of the night so splendid in candor represnt their souls with friends, family, land or sea. then it becomes the ideology of the tree as we breathe that acceptional beauty of the bee.

do not walk the line when a thought crosses your mind the hearts mirrors still reflect the truth that is mankind.

  • Sauls spoken word is like nothing i have ever heard before. I have been writing for some time, but more on and off and it hasnt been consistant. I started back up again and have found my calling in a most odd time in my life. Saul, Gemineye, Alicia Keys, and the countless other slam poets and classical poets will be my guide as I strive to find myself.

  • Anyone want the lyrics, send me your email address[too long to PM].

  • damn.

  • Yea saul leaves me lost @ time too

  • If you find it difficult to understand, find the beat. It rolls in patterns and he has a certain style and pattern to the emphasis that he uses. Once you hear the flow, you won't have as much trouble understanding possibly.

  • that has lyric from a bunch of his songs

    it's like 20 minutes distilled to 6

  • He's probably the most gifted writer I know, but I don't understand a majority of what he's saying. And then he talks fast to make it even harder to keep up. He's an amazing poet, but I don't understand why it seems many if not most poets make it a point to lose their audience. It's like they're almost wasting the poems.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't know about other poets, but I think Saul has said that he's poems are not to be heard/interpreted from an intellectual level but rather from the heart.

  • Damn straight.

  • This sounds like rambling to me. But I know there is more to it and I'll keep listening till I get it, someday.

    It's hard to detach intellectually.

  • Someone commented below about how his poems are to be heard from the heart. that figures. I don't fully understand it - intellectually, but I get a series of images and ideas that I experience whilst listeniing to it. Good Hip Hop does the same for me. I really like this.

  • he's totally inspired me to expand my vocabulary.

  • I feel that some of these people are more amazed by the fact that he can recall and recite almost 6 mins. worth of poetry more than being amazed by what he is really saying.

This is something you want to hear more than once though. Amazing

  • I feel John the Baptist in him

  • WOW that was amazing so many deep connections with the meaning of life. It was the most astonishing piece of poetry I have seen yet

  • Yeah he is of the hook. Just checked out Allflaws - Acid Face. funkin mad too.

    True poets

  • yeah this mans a lyrical machine. got some mad poets in the uk like Scroobuis pip and Allflaws.

real deep shitznit from the out limits

  • the girl beside him looks SO turned on, lol

  • The guy beside him look turned on. lol

  • More in a child way.

  • that white dude is paying attention and knows what is good!

  • when I was just getting to like him he had to clap for himself, like saying I know I am that good, too bad
