  • I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but...

Happy 30th anniversary The Movie Channel!

  • I so remeber this intro, for some reason it gave nightmares;I was like 6 at the time.Memories!

  • Judging from the film titles alone and thier release years,i would put this as a 1984 intro since "Max Dugan Returns"(shown here simply as "Max Dugan")came out in 1982 while "Cujo" is from '83.

I saw the latter at a $2.00 theatre late in its run the night ABC aired "The Day After".

  • I think you are most correct. Going by the date mentioned for the Academy Awards promo (Sunday, April 8), 4/8 did indeed fall on a Sunday in 1984, according to the calendar under windows :). So I think you're spot-on...

  • Aha the 80s best time when the movies where cool and games where cooler and PC weighted 1 tonn and cartoons better then everything it where the best time i miss that time buhu X(

  • I love how back in the 70s and 80s the pay movie channels "feature presentation" bits were very similar to the ones you saw in the cinema. It's all very bland now. Oh I miss the 1980s!

  • I agree, most movie channels do not even have feature presentation intros anymore.

  • Yeah, I still remember the switch box instead of the remote when I was a kid.

  • Here in the UK there was a completely unrelated channel with the same name but it is now known as

    Sky Movies Premiere.

  • I like the way the ratings come up.

  • Wow! I remember intros similar to these when TMC was called 'The Star Channel' back in the late 70's. Brings back memories. Thanks for the post!

  • I love the way the rating comes up,on these intros.

  • The Movie Channel--

    Movies for Movie Lovers

  • Thanks so much.I love The Movie Channel.Reply to my message, when you got it loaded. Thanks again,Retro

  • One more thing, I'd like to see this intro, but with R rating,if anyone has it.Sorry to be annoying,I love TMC.

  • Could you please post it.I love this intro, but I liked the In Stereo intro better. Also if anyone has intros from preview Subscription channel, please post them

  • add more TMC stufdf sand some prism stuff

  • OMG!!! that is so cool I've been wanting to see this for a long time. This is actually a modified version from the one they used in the very early 80's I'd love to see that one. This one is really cool too, thanks for the upload.

  • He's right, the end part dates back to when Warner-Amex owned The Movie Channel. (Of course, Warner-Amex sold 50% to Viacom/Showtime in the early 80s, and then sold the rest to them when they got out of the cable business in 1984-85...)

  • Now, CBS owns Both Showtime and Movie Channel!

  • Very ironic how it comes from "Man's best friend" to "Cujo." LOL

I love these pay tv 80s uploads.

  • HOLY FUCKING SHIT! THIS WAS EVEN BEFORE THE MOVIE CHANNEL WAS AVAILABLE IN ST. PAUL...... I still like the classic Hollywood style opening from the mid 80's a little more tho...... but please, if you have more of these.... POST THEM IMMEDIATELY! Thank you

  • The tonight on bumper music, sounds just like"Cagney and Lacey's" Theme song

  • The bumper music does sound like Cagney and Lacey, that's kinda funny.

  • Yeah your right it does lol!

  • I noticed that too, same sax and all....

  • Thank you,so much.I haven't seen in it in 20 years.Although the one I seen;said Feature Presentation in stereo. This is my favorite opening;much cooler than the eyes.
