  • Elegant breed of dog.

I would love to get a female Saluki and do lure coursing with her.

  • Very pretty dog.

  • ive never seen 4 treats for health before!!

  • I want one...

  • Are they really that hard to train?

  • I really want a Saluki. I have no idea on how to find one in my city though. @.@ Tis a hard to find breed here in Canada.

  • @KupoMogTheFirst You should go to the Saluki breeder referral site. Google it.

Topeople whowant greedy corporates gone thumbs up and copy and paste this on Vevo stuff

  • Is the Saluki a good city dog? I've seen a few people walking them in Central Park and have always been fond of them.

  • About how much do these dogs cost? They are so adorable, and I want one so badly. I am 15 now, and I've wanted one since I was 6! :)

  • I LOVE "SALUKI'S" !!! my favurit DOG!! The Best Dog Ever Worldwide!!!

  • i love salukis, im thinking about getting a creme coated saluki

  • Can this breed be a good appartment dog? :-)

  • I want a pet Joseph Minor!

I've always found Salukis very beautiful and gracile, but I'm looking for a dog I can train and that will protect me. I've already got 4 cats.

  • can anyone tell me of any saluki kennels in california?

  • I took the dog breed quiz on Animal planet, i said I wanted a lazy dog and I had little space, my most compatible dog was a Saluki...

It even says that it doesn't need much exercise....

  • @rrroba

Watch the end of this video. Salukis need to be exercised every day, but, like greyhounds, they will be docile the rest of the day if they've had a good romp.

  • Beautiful.

  • @lcafb28 That's not how that phrase goes...

  • Salukis are the best. We have now 13 week old saluki boy :)

  • i love salukis

but they are not a dog for everyone, If you want a companion then buy a working breed, Our saluki is exceptional. He is not a good dog but hes a great saluki. I treat him like a wild animal.Thats how i love and accept him for what he is. He has grown in his devotion for me and that touches me to my core. He is smart. I never believed that dogs that dont want to work for you canstill be clever. He is. And yes he does have recall but only when i make an appointment with him .

  • @nolanerunner emmm well your not a good master then a saluki is breed to be a companion and they are very smart the problom with you people is that you dont train them to hunt thats why you dont see the real side of this breeds

  • Two things they fail to mention....

    1) An overwhelming urge to sleep on top of you.

    2) 'Singing' along with your favourite songs

    Or is that just mine?

I always wanted a Saluki and then a neighbour 'confiscated' an emaciated, young smooth-coat from a heroin addicted couple who seemed hell bent on self-destruction taking the hound with them. I called her Noodle because she was so thin (and noodle coloured).

I've had her three years now and she's the most gentle, loving dog I've met.

  • @longdog65 My parents have a saluki and and she is a treasure. Traditionally the breed is known to be rather silent. The only times Pashmina would "speak" was during the call to prayer (she is a devout muslim puppy) and once when my parents had to go out of town for a week..... on the third day she just came out to living room, looked at me, tipped her head back and cried for them...We had a cuddle session after that and it was all better.

  • they are so thin...

  • lmao at the lisp

  • i <3 Salukis!! i have a 2 yr old golden+white male named Google. he is 29 inches tall+wieghs 60 lbs. his fav thing 2 do is play fetch+run, run, run!! Salukis r just skiny ballz of energy!!

  • we have a half saluki half lurcher and she has just started jumping our garden fence into the field behind! we have to get a bigger fence!

  • I want a saluki so bad when i get my own place. Not that I don't love my current dog; a very sweet dachshund.

  • i love salukies

  • I've had my second saluki for 5 years now. They've both been beaut companions...lots of fun, easy to keep and despite being fairly large dogs, don't eat all that much. But ya gotta walk 'em a lot. And if they ever get off the leash, good luck coaxing them back!!! Both mine have been outdoors dogs and have happily flourished without other doggy companions. Not the most obedient, but I like a dog with a mind of it's own!

  • yer me too. My dogs have a mind of their own. Oh they know who's boss but i don't think i'll be letting them off the lead any time soon.

  • @puppydoug what not the most obedient ?? how can you say this

the saluki are breed for haunting and if they were not obedient they wouldnt get pray and bring them back to there master without killing the pray..

its the way you raise the saluki... that effects this its not the salukis problom its the owners..

  • @babaganabal ...no problem. When you learn to SPELL (breed, haunting, pray, there, effects) I'll learn to raise my dog correctly!

  • @puppydoug Ah, yes, go after the middle eastern man for his spelling, how mature... :/

He has good points, grow up.

  • our saluki is mature now

he is a character...nothing like our other dogs

he lives alongside of our birds...that is...he doesnt pay them no mind although i really thought the finches were in for it for a while...all that delicious flittering seemed to be too much for salukidog but he got past it and ignores them now

you cant power over a dog like a saluki...it really does seem you have to establish a mutual respect...i am firm but kind...i try to be positive as much as possible

  • @puppydoug mine dosnt pee or poo inside never! Mine just scratches on my door so i know when it needs to go!

  • SIU!!!!!

  • I love em.

  • Thanks for psting this video . I love Saluki's. Look at the way the dog folds its arm at 02:56 such aristocracy ! Ahhh I love Saluki's.

  • the one bone for trainability means they are difficult to train or what? I have a big backyard and my family is allergic to pet hair(not too bad, I just can't sit in an area covered with it). I live in the suburbs so cars are not constantly whizzing by but we do have a lot of squirrels and rabbits. I am somewhat of a triathlete so I love to run. Do I have to worry about leaving them alone? I have read a lot that they remain aloof but then I have also read that they require attention which is it?

  • Make sure you have two fences. Cause these dogs run and will chase anything and everything.

Insanely fast, If you've ever seen a gray hound take off, a Saluki is very similar

  • Saluki's have been bred to think for themselves rather than follow commands so although you can train them not to the standard of say a german shepherd dog. Once they are locked onto prey they are pretty much impossible to call off so really good fencing is essential. They can be left alone if they are brought up right but they love company. They need a good comfy sofa and lots of exercise, including free running.

  • Training a sight hound is pretty much, teaching them a trick (takes 5 mins) then spending the next 3+ months convincing them they want to do it. They are very smart. If you can find one that is motivated to please you, you are all set for training.

If not, one that is motivated by food will work for you too.

For aloofness, they are very affectionate with their immediate family, and become closely bonded to the people they live with. The aloofness is generally with strangers.

  • They can be trained (using bribes) but are willful. Feathered do shed lightly, I don't know about smooth-haired. They will chase & kill anything small. Good for running with a bike. Need company near but aren't lap dogs.

  • good looking dog frist time i'v looked at one
