@honeyglitter1 Rubbing alcohol is also called Isopropyl Alcohol. It's usually found in the pharmacy area of a store near bandages and Hydrogen Peroxide. We also have 2 different strengths commonly available 70% and 99% - both will work just fine. Hope this helps!
@groovesters247 It's an additive that prevents the Vanilla in a fragrance from turning your soap brown. For more information and what VCS is and how to use it see Episode 7: How to prevent Morphing and Fading.
You should make a Popsicle soap with layers and maybe make it in an actual Popsicle mold. They actually do have flexible ones so I think they would work for soap making :]
@myusernameistight That is just using one of the molds we carry at Bramble Berry. It's called a flexible car mold and I think it's so cute! Glad you like it too. :)
@purplemakeuplove Hi there, I answered the same question you posted on a different video. But for anyone else wondering, yes, we do have silicone molds in addition to many other types of molds. Check out the mold seciton on the Bramble Berry website.
@soapqueentv thank you so much for answering! but i am still unclear when i click on a specific mold it only says the size, and cavity, it doesnt say what it is made of??
id would love it if you had a video soap that looks like a wedge of watermelon with black seeds , rind and all. thanks for the awesome vids, tho- you do a great job!
@123ZozoD You need to make sure the soap you get is intended to be heated up and melted down. You can find Melt & pour bases at many craft stores as well as online. But I don't recommend using regular bar soap from the grocery store, some brands of soap can do really weird things when you try to melt them down.
my friends and i would love to see you guys make body scrub, lip scrubs, and shower gel, and a cool tye dye soap :) ps i make really good bath bombs and my friends love them ok thanks hope you like my ideas
@isabelplace Those are great ideas! I recently did a lip scrub tutorial on my Soap Queen Blog - I'm still using it and just loving it. That would be a fun video to make.
I just bought the stuff to make this, I am so excited to do it! I've been making soap for years, mostly as gifts, but I've been getting burned out lately from doing the same kinds of soaps. I've been trying to get better and have more fun designs so I can maybe sell them! I'm so glad I found these videos, because you have such wonderful and unique ideas, and I'm really really excited to try them out and see how they come out! Thanks a ton for getting me back into soap making :)
@8765432110101010 That's a great idea! I do show how to make soap that uses coffee grounds as an exfoliant in my video showing How to Make Natural, Earth Friendly Soap.
But I love the idea of making a Mocha soap! Maybe with some foamy soap on top.
I was interested in learning the avarge income in the soap/cosmetic business? do u have to have a lisence to do it? whats the arvrage start up cost? things like that
@LadiXtaci Honestly, there is such variety in the handmade soap and cosmetic world that there is no average. Everyone is unique in their goals for their business and the results they see. I do have quite a few business focused blog posts on my Soap Queen Blog - to help inspire and get you started in your own business. You should check it out! :)
@locolaurenzo I do show how to make a fortune cookie soap in the Independence Day Special I posted in June of 2009. It was posted just after this episode. Enjoy!
hi im 15 and im starting my own website for my diy projects and i was wondering if you could make lotion and/or hair gel please and thank you it would really help me[:
@appleeyebeauty You can also get most of these supplies at craft stores - although they aren't always cheaper - at least you don't pay shipping that way. If you get creative with dollar store supplies just make sure everything you use is skin safe, many fragrances are just for potpourri and shouldn't be used on the skin.
@MsParanoia1 Usually candle fragrances are not skin safe. So you shouldn't use them in soap or any other cosmetic product. The best way to tell if a fragrance will discolor your soap is to test it! At Bramble Berry we've tested all of our fragrances and we note in the description if it discolors, but it is still a good idea to make a small test your self with your specific recipe.
@sweetbubblegum571 If you can't find a Canadian supplier Bramble Berry happily ships all over the world! Just follow the link in the video description. And the alcohol is just regular rubbing alcohol (also called isopropyl alcohol) which you can find in any pharmacy or grocery store.
@gumby0863 There are so many way to make soap cookies. I show how to make fortune cookies in the Independence Day video from last year. You could also make sheets of soap and cut out shapes with cookie cutters. Hope this helps!
@MsParanoia1 The blue won't prevent the soap from going brown. But it usually takes a few days - sometimes even weeks - for the soap to discolor. So just give it away fast! :) Bramble Berry sells the Vanilla Color stabilizer along with all of the other products I use in the video.
@PinkJems That's a great idea! There are so many great fragrances reminiscent of soda pop. For the soap, you could purposely whisk in some bubbles for the carbonation. You could make a little bottle mold using Bramble Berry's flexy Fast molding putty. I can imagine so many possibilities with this idea. Thanks!
@smiles0699 Bramble Berry has a Rose mold for soap. So you might check that out. Maybe you could make a rose like cake decorators make out of frosting? Hmm... sounds like I have some experimenting to do. Thanks for the suggestion. :)
@redbone26twin Yes, it can make the soap soft or sticky. Keep all of your additions to 1 or 2 Tablespoons per pound of soap (including fragrance oil) to make sure you don't end up with squishy soap. :) If you are interested in having more control over what oils are in your soap you might try making Cold Process soap. Then you decide exactly what oils and how much will go in your soap.
@soapqueentv Thank you for the information. I am a little nervous about making cold process soap. However I am waiting for each edition of your cold press soap series!!!! (hopefully i will not be so nervous)
Sorry you don't like the music. We were looking for something fun and upbeat - but most importantly with a creative commons license (or permission from the copyright holder).
So if you have any suggestions, we'd love to hear them. We've been using the same music for a year now and it's probably time for a change. :)
@CaribbeanHolidays4u You bet! in fact we are currently editing a video on how to make melt & pour soap cupcakes. And we have plans to film our ever popular bath bomb cupcake Soap Queen blog project in the Spring - so stay tuned. :)

Oooo I got an idea! Why don't you make a video on normal melt and pour soap that is shaped like cake! Layers will come in handy with this and inbedding.
I have instructions for making Bath Bomb Cupcakes and a cupcake soap using a custom mold that Bramble Berry has over on my Soap Queen Blog. Just search for cupcake in the search field and you should find the articles in no time!
Thanks for all of your comments, questions, and interest!
Any plain round soap mold will work. The one I use is just called Round Mold on the Bramble Berry site and is $6.50. I always post the videos on my Soap Queen blog as well - an there I can put direct links to each product.
sashalovexx - spritzing with rubbing alcohol to remove the bubbles is purely an aesthetic choice. If you like the bubbles, leave them!
Could you share the name of the mold you're using in this video, please? I ordered what I thought was the right one from Brambleberry but it's hard white plastic instead of the clear one you're using here. Thanks so much!
I would love to see you do soaps that have the whipped top look or soaps that are whipped and aren't hard. Thanks for doing these videos! I'm still at this point a researcher but hopefully an eventual soaper!
Hi I would love to see a loofah with soap, I tried it by cutting a plastic 2 litre soft drink bottle putting the loofah inside, and pouring the soap over it, then I sliced the loofah, but my son asked for the natural shape of the loofah with soap inside. I tried wrapping the loofah in silver foil but the soap came sprtzing out :-( from all sides. Is there a technique to keep the natural not-perfectly-round shape of the loofah? thanks so much, I love your videos! Racquel
1. Try dipping the loofah in the melted soap (like dipping a candle)
2. Wrap the loofah in one sheet of plastic wrap. Prop it up in a drinking glass so the opening is just on one narrow side - then carefully pour soap into the loofah.
love love love your videos!!! I'm so glad you guys decided to do them. Can you please show us how to make liquid soaps or lotions from scratch using your ingredients. I've heard that if you grate a regular melt and pour soap and add distilled water and blend it, it becomes liquid soap. Is that something that can really be done as a retail product? Thanks!
Many people put their soap in the freezer briefly to speed up the setting up process and get it out of the molds faster.
I don't recommend it for this project though. Condensation will usually form on the surface of cold soap. This slimy surface inhibits adhesion of layers and embedded soap.
Most M&P soap will easily pop out of the mold within a few hours - 24 hours at the most. So I recommend that you just be patient. :)
I think using Water Soluble Paper as a base for the petals should work. That way it would dissolve when you get past the soap layers. I'll have to play around with this idea!
New to soap making and came across your vid's since I got my supplies from your website, these video's are really helping me learn. All your tips and tricks are great, keep up the great work!

I tried wrapping the loofah in silver foil but the soap came sprtzing out :-( from all sides. Is there a technique to keep the natural not-perfectly-round shape of the loofah? thanks so much, I love your videos! Racquel

Hi Racquel,
I have 2 ideas for you.
1. Try dipping the loofah in the melted soap (like dipping a candle)
2. Wrap the loofah in one sheet of plastic wrap. Prop it up in a drinking glass so the opening is just on one narrow side - then carefully pour soap into the loofah.
Good Luck!

Hi Anne-Marie,
love love love your videos!!! Thanks!

Hi Silvia,
Thanks for the suggestion - liquid soap and lotion are both great ideas.
Usually, when you mix lots of water and grated soap you'll get more of a soap slurry that's kind of milky and lumpy. But it can work! :)

Ann-Marie,
Is it bad to put the soap in the fridge or freezer to harden? I'm confused because some recipes on the net say to pop it in the freezer. Thanks,

Hi Emi,
Many people put their soap in the freezer briefly to speed up the setting up process and get it out of the molds faster.

Thanks for your question.
I think using Water Soluble Paper as a base for the petals should work. That way it would dissolve when you get past the soap layers. I'll have to play around with this idea!
