  • No, Natalie. Thank you.

  • Procol harum

  • A very talented singer.

  • I love how all the good music just keeps popping up as I go from one beautiful song to the next

  • Your willing to drop all to fly the distance to be with me......well tears have not stopped dropping.....I know yuck and stop!

    :)))

  • So much thanks Dave......all my are you there's always answered, even if you are stumbling in the dark, late, on the floor, or nextie's HO! I could of never got this far without you....la la la la!

  • Love you and thank you...soul sister...great love.

  • love the great natalie

  • i miss my ex girlfriend sandra :( thank you for everything

  • Angel voice.

  • I'm still in love with Natalie Merchant and always will be.

  • The first line is You've been so "kind and Generous"

  • i dont understand why the title of the song is not mentioned.

  • @ruthiehensh what do you mean,in the song? if so,there are a lot of songs, that have a title that is not part of the lyric of the song itself. there is no rule, nor should there be,regarding this.

  • @brainsareus

It's not called Thank You, anyway.

The song title is actually Kind And Generous.

  • @Xeltosxx my brain was asleep, you win. i'm wrong. u-get the big utube prize. a gold plated computer monitor, that only shows people like myself, when we give dumb answers,on utube.

  • @ruthiehensh

That's because it's not called Thank You.

    It's called Kind And Generous.

  • So , was anyone else disappointed with her latest offering 'Leave Your Sleep'. It's her newest record and it's COMPLETELY folk music with exception of just a track or two! I was brokenhearted the day I got it. Don't get me wrong she still sings like an angel all throughout, die-hard folk just isn't my preference(ever)!

  • @Inthorns Haven't heard her new record yet, but one of the things I admire about her is that she does not conform to anyone's expectations. That apparently includes yours. Genres are for record labels - listen to the music. If it pleases you to do so, imagine it with house beats or something behind it.

  • @Inthorns I couldn't agree more, I didn't really like anything from Leave your Sleep but apparently the album was greatly inspired by her daughter...I just put the album back on the shelve and got out all my old Natalie tracks

  • @Inthorns yea, same here, lovely voice, just dont like trad folk so much. i like carnival, and this kinda stuff,

  • Im in love with this woman......Love that voice and demeanor.

  • such a pretty, deep, amazing tune. not an easy combination to pull off. sweetheart voice.

  • I always get this girl mixed with Sara maclachlan :)

  • Just love this, amazing!

  • miss her with the 10,000 maniacs

  • Just listened to Natalie's new album, Leave Your Sleep. Mesmerizing, pure genius.

  • Love you Abby

  • the song is called Kind and Generous not Thank You.

  • i bought this cassette tape back in like 1998 and still have it :)

  • @BeyondNeptune

alright, clearly your taste in music is good but I gotta ask: what in God's name were you doing still buying cassettes in 1998?

  • @AlltelJohnny12 because i was traveling and only had a Walkman AM/FM/Cassette with me, If i wanted to buy music, i had to buy a tape - at least on that trip, cuz i didn't have a means to play a CD.

  • @BeyondNeptune I still use my walkman! (:

  • This song has always reminded me of my Grandma. I cry everytime I hear it now.

  • Today is my wife and my 9th Anniversary, and she posted this to me on my FB wall...BACK AT YOU, KITTEN! LOTS OF LOVE AND THANKS FOR THE GREATEST LIFE WITH YOU AND OUR BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN!

  • Thanks for posting a useless picture show on a site made for videos.

  • @MrThisIsMeToo Chill out. They posted this so that we could focus on the song, and not anything else. Plus, we don't have to deal with Vevo commercials and ads this way. You can't post the actual video without getting penalized for it.

  • @singplaylaughlove9 Did this person complain that it wasn't the actual video? Can you see? This "video" is one photo, after an "intro" with another still. If you're going to post something, at least shoot some b-roll. And Vevo doesn't have Natalie Merchant vids. Only Natalie Merchant has her vids, and she wisely doesn't allow commenting.

  • @SenorCajones Comments are one of the best parts of YouTube.

  • Happy birthday Natalie....love you !

  • Why are comments disabled on the Wonder video? She ruined that song with the video, the song was about her not random women/girls.....

  • They're disabled so that random people wouldn't ruin the video with their "observations" of what the song or video is about.

  • @SenorCajones How smart was that?

  • OMG!!!! I love Natalie Merchant!!!

  • merci beacoup!

  • This song is called kind and generous. But a good song lol. :)

  • No, thank you, Natalie Merchant and all of the awesome artists from the 90s. Music today is dead.

  • THIS IS ONE OF THOSE FEEL-GOOD SONGS FROM ONE'S CHILDHOOD.

  • thank you

  • u have inspired me so much i luv u

  • I think she has a awe inspiring voice. I love her music.

  • nice tits

  • @discokidx1 Glad someone else said that. Exactly what I was thinking. But she has it all, beautiful voice and face too. Nice caboose too.

  • GOD, I love her! Shes just amazing!

  • ူနားေထာင္လုိ ့ေကာင္းတယ္.. စာသားလဲမုိက္တယ္....

  • We need to face it... this woman is evolved beyond most of the rest of of us.

  • An instant attraction, I'm in to stay.

  • Ah, this brings back so many memories.

  • Great song, this...

  • Love this song, brings me right back to the 90s & HS. Weren't alot of the female singer/songwriters saying thank you around the same time though?

    Natalie, Alanis, Dido, probably others.........lol

  • Love this song, I have always loved Natalie Merchant. She has such a pure voice.

  • Dear Katie M., You're Beautiful.

  • i totally get goose bumps the minute she starts to sing in this song...what perfection!

  • I danced with my father at my wedding to this song. He passed a month ago and I will never forget these words and how well they expressed my gratitude for him just being him. I love you Daddy

  • love natalie...na na na na na na-na na....love her crazy style...creepy how she lays out the lyrics

  • I Want To Thank You..... Natalie....

  • she makes me cry......she soo good

  • @2627gabby .....me too

  • i disagree respectfully she is not a diva she is exceptionally gifted and grounded which makes her very unique her voice blended with her personality and the soul that exudes in her makes her 1 of a kind and this is coming from someone who loves outlaw country///// she truly stirs my soul thank you natalie sincerly thank you

  • This is a grea voice. This is a "REAL DIVA"....great talent in a beautiful and artistic simplicity...We need more talents like Natalie.

  • @crystalship42 think u maybe misunderstood what 'diva' means.

  • the song is titled "kind and generous".

  • Isn't this song called "Kind and Generous"?

  • its a shame she died

  • @chicoisgod She's still alive buddy.

  • @Gonboo Thnxs bro... i said: wadafak!!! when were why M. F.!

    well... shame on you...tube M f.

  • With voice like that, I sure want to marry her;-)

  • @45myob Katrina's fair is about a girl with multiple personalities. Poor De Chirico is about a very interesting Italian painter named Giorgio De Chirico. The Latin One is a good song about war and Grey Victory is about the nuclear bombing of Japan.

  • @45myob Incredible vocals and vocabulary. I also liked the fact with her early stuff she was not bound by 4/4 time. No trying to fit the vocals to the music. Katrinas fair and Poor De Chirico are my favorite songs.

  • If only we all could be kind and generous to each other thanking God for each other....

  • @45myob I had Hope Chest for 10 years before I figured out what the songs were about. My favorite album of all time.

  • Awesome voice.......love you Natalie

  • the name of this song is actually "Kind and Generous" but i'm sure i am not the first person to tell you. still added it to my favorites anyways

  • just thought i'd mention that this song is not called "thank you"...it's called "kind and generous"

  • Affect is a verb

  • No........Thankyou....

  • @foofoomagoo I thought that she was saying "I want you back here, back here..."

  • lovely sexy sultry voice!!!

aaaaaand meds it is for me :)

  • :O I used to listen to her soo many years ago :) she is great

  • Thank you.

  • Only the second song of hers I've heard but its weird, her voice is familiar to me but can't place how I'd heard it. Guess I'll need to go thru her discography...that'll work. I like her vibe. I agree with diverrboy...Grammys don't mean squat.

  • @ebonpaladin

You remember, "10,000 Maniacs"? Great band. She was the original lead singer.

  • @777TIFFANYFEM777 - I had heard of them but never listened to their music; I did read she was their lead til she went solo. I just really like her vibe.

  • @ebonpaladin i kinda like u working your butt off at work and someone else gets employee of the month and the one that really deserves it is in the background continuing to be a dedicated employee or goes unnoticed like under the radar

  • @shoneyy the way of the world that is

  • @ebonpaladin so who can relate to what i said it has happened to me but did i cry about know y when other people come up to me say u should have gotten that would be enough for me right there.

  • @shoneyy I can relate...all I can say is continue to perform to your higher standards, if it continues to remain unnoticed that's ok. Go somewhere else where it WILL be recognized.

  • This album won kinds of critacal aclaim!!!

  • yowza. cheer up :)

  • NOSTAAAAAALGIKKK.. My fav song of 90s

  • Just beautiful :) Why does this song have a dislike button?

  • i used to hold my daughter when she was a newborn and listen to this thinking about how thankful i was to her birth mother for allowing us to adopt her

  • Tank you Thank you Thank you...for all the blessings and kindness you send out into the world

  • Why can't we all just get along... this is just not worth the energy, do ya think? Be kind, be generous... with your energies, folks! Peace

  • why are some of you worrying about who has c.ds, how she looks, the title. what really matters is the song. online fighting is stupid because if we ever run into that person we may never know that its the jerk i fought with online

  • i love her music and wish she still made music. my mom used to sing her music in karaoke :')

  • I swear to god it sounds like shes saying "I want to fack your for it"

  • Natalie has some nice sized boobs!!

  • @gabaggyman

    get a life dude

  • Sounds like shes saying fuck you, fuck you.

  • good to see the argument over the song's title still rages

    lol

Natalie's addressed this many times... jokes everyone asks her to sing the "thank you song" :)

  • Sounds like she's singing "I want to vacuum, vacuum.."

  • @foofoomagoo

    LOL!

  • @foofoomagoo sexist.

  • #shoutout #thankyou for #lovinme I am #wellloved

  • what a beautiful prayer

  • Thank You is a Dido track, and people are likely to get the two confused as a result of this. I get why you call it that, but it could mislead someone.

  • I had a terrible dream last night and i listened to this song the minute i woke up and immediately felt SO much better X)

  • I'm sure Ms Merchant would not mind if someone refers to this song as "Thank You".

It's a great song and she is a rare treasure.

  • Natalies Fuckin GREAT in so Many Many Ways !!!!! Love her Voice and Lyrics.... always gets me in a great mood !!!

  • I saw 10,000 maniacs in the UK 22 years ago with Nat as the vocalist. Absolutely amazing. Trouble me and the lyrics it presents is at No.1 as my funeral song (I have terminal cancer) and so, Natalie Merchant and Rob Buck I salute you for your truly inspiring song making abilities...along with the musicians that count for 10,000 maniacs. Truly awesome. Keep people believing x

  • @glevans71 So sorry for you ill health. I agree that Natalie is simply amazing.

  • I love Natalie Merchant. As an extremely sensitive boy in a new high school, I leaned heavily on Natalie and 10000 Maniacs to get me through. I am forever thankful to her and the group for all the amazing memories!

  • Natalie is on my top list for the most powerful artist. shes amazing!! listen to her lyrics! I seen her in concert and she was amazing..

  • she's joked about this being called the "thank you" song alot! :)

  • does it matter what the song is called? Yes, we all know the song is kind and generous. Let's just all agree that the song is awesome. It is very moving and inspirational.

  • Hallelujah!!! i finally found this song!!! so good, didnt know who the singer was and what the song was called for months, sweetness

  • @iheart90zmusic It's called "Kind and Generous"

  • I hate Paridys... If it's not the real video,,, then don't bother...... fake videos piss me off... !!!!!!! and I love Natalie Merchant, just not make sift videos.... come on people..... the real thing of 4 get it !!!!!!! :-(

  • Buen tema

  • i like this song because this is the song that played at my grams funeral

  • My dad and my neice danced to this at her wedding...it was the most beautiful thing i have ever seen!

  • This song kicks ass!

  • She is my cousin :)

  • OMG! She is my cousin :)

  • yes over looked but one of the greats

  • Hmmm, wonderful song and THANK YOU for sharing ;)

  • Two things, I want to Thank you for posting "Kind and Generous". Wonderful song.

Secondly,...... perhaps there is someone out there who can explain to me how you could listen to this song and write something critical and condescending?

Just guessing here, but Pink1023 likely has not had this song dedicated to them or declared a personal anthem.

Just my two cents. "Glass Houses" and the likes. Yadda yaddah.

  • Thank you Jesus

  • Que chula cancion... Que mujer...
