  • You spelled 9 wrong. its Kyu.

  • how come Ju or 10 has 3 symbols next to it when its sounded out and what are they in?

  • @HMwicca the first symbol is ji and the second smaller symbol changes it to jyu. the final symbol is u, so it's jyuu, with a longer, two syllable vowel.

  • @HMwicca the kanas YA YU YO, can be written smaller, thus changing the sound of the previous Kana. Trying to represent this in romaji, KI + YA = KIYA would be different from KI + ya = KYA. Got it?

  • is it just me or am I the only one who just zoned out and lost focus. Maybe it's the music.

  • @cct346078604 HAH LOL same but the way you say it is different... damn..

  • woah this was really helpful ! i knew the pronouncuation's (bad spelling) from when i was little so am looking this up just to touch up on thing's and noticed since then i'v become really slopy !

Not only have i improved but i now know how to write the number's in kanji Thank You !!!

    5 stars

  • isn't nine kyuu o_o

  • 4 can be also yon and 7 nana, it's better like that because shi means dead so they use more yon and nana, and she's wrong, nine is kyuu ^^

  • @LaMoiRachel

actually, . "Ku" is just short for "kyuu," they both work.

  • so.. we can also use it when we say for example kyuu-yu (ku-yu ) ?? or san-ku?

  • yep, you got it. Stay inquisitive; it makes the learning process so much smoother.

  • good video ;D

learns at the same time how to write it and in which order to draw the lines ^^v

  • Yes, kanji was borrowed from the Chinese...and they're waiting to get them back.. Honto???

  • zero=「零」 とも。

  • @nohohon100

Huh, I've never heard anyone say "tomo" before??

  • If you want to learn the kanji more easily.. you should go to google and type in "reviewing the kanji" I am already on 350 kanji in only 5 days, I plan on finishing in 2 weeks, so basically, you can finish kanji with this method of learning in about 3 weeks, if you did 100 day like me, yea I slacked of 1 day. :D

  • You're kidding.

  • Don't be an ass.

  • No it wasn't an insult, im just wondering, you're very fast.

  • no it isn't

  • it is

    kanji are chinese ideograms

there are 2 pronaunciation (or how u write it lol) for it. the ON version (chinese meaning and saying) and Kun version (japanese saying)..

    *something like that*

  • I actually thought is was chinese

  • kanji was borrowed from chinese :)

  • i like this video because it show's you how it's writen in letters next to the ichi and ni and stuff

  • shichi is preferd more than nana

  • Old Japanese numbers↓

    1=hi 2=hu 3=mi 4=yo 5=itu

  • i thought that seven was "nana"?

  • You are right, but it can also be shichi. 4 is can be SHI or YON.

  • apparently you only use SHI for 4 only by itself, any more than the single 4 you use YON. YON JYU YON 44

  • except April is shigatsu. =)

  • they prefer yon than shi coz if 4 was pronounced as shi it could also mean "death". and if 9 was pronounced as ku i could also mean "to suffer"

  • @hunyaga oh, cause i was wondering, if they can have higher numbers like one thousand

  • @trackmaniakid27

Do you think the english languge is the most efficient languge in thw world? Thanks.

  • @signupsigma maybe.

  • @trackmaniakid27

Who invented the english system -- alphabet / grammar / syntax...etc. Thanks.

  • @hunyaga

Who made up this rule? I want the name of the person who developed Japanese language. Who is the one guy / girl who invented the japanese language? What's his / her name?

We are all learning how to communicate using that person's system. Everyone in Japan uses his system, and yet no one knows his name. Thank you.

  • @hunyaga true

  • @hunyaga it's nana and yon when not counting just to 10 and in other circumstances.

  • @hunyaga Is there a particular reason why there is two words for the same number , i have always wondered this and perhaps you could explain which one is most common and why :) thanks

  • @hunyaga There are different usages right? I read somewhere that one is more frequent than the other because of how it's supposed to be used.

Also, somebody told me that 4 is a bad luck number in japan, kinda like 13 in the west because it has something to do with "shin", or sounds like, something like that, is that true?

  • actually, nowadays, most young people say 'yon' and 'nana' instead of shi and shichi, because they sound like the word for death, also 'shi'

  • Isnt 9 and 10 "kyu" and "juu"? Good video though.

  • or ku and jû...

  • kyuujuusan nijuukyuu

  • Domo arigato

  • wow so those huge letters ive been seeings the whole time were actually kanji! lol wow never realized ありがとございます

  • doumo arigato gozaimasu

  • Zero has Kanji!!

    I'm Japanese but I don't know it.

  • sugoy

  • thanks to you i knoe all my number thanks alot!!

    agrigato!

  • isn't nine spelled "kyu" and ten spelled "jyu"?

  • ya,but it's spelled "ku" but it's pronounced "kyu" same with ten

if you read japanese books that help learn,it will be spelled "kuu" to show how to pronounce :)

  • actually they're spelled as kyuu and jyuu. and if japanese write, they don't write "ichi" but "iti" because of the computers.

  • Arigatou Gozaimasu :3

  • how do you say how old you are in japanese?

  • Anata wa nansai desuka?

  • Why isn't 0 rei?

  • this kind of lessons are really important for who's beginning , thank you very much ! domo arigato gozaimasu !

  • i've heard "seven" go by: shichi and nana. are they both correct?

  • The are both correct. I assume you have heard "nanatsu"? Cardinal and ordinal numbers are different.

  • yup, nana and shichi are both the same, just depends on how your using it,like if your gonna say 70 you use shichi if your just saying like 27 or 47 or just 7 you use nana ;)

  • try saying telephone number "1 7717 7117" in japanese using only the chinese style pronounciations. lol

and if you say 70, use "nana" as "nanajyuu" not "shichijyuu". again, it just doesn't sound so good

  • very funny!

  • ichi nanajyuhyakunanasennana nanajyuhyakusennana

    いちななじゅうひゃくななせんななななじゅうひゃくせんなな

wait, chinese pronounciations? What are the chinese pronounciations?

  • japanese vs chinese pronunciations

    yon vs shi

    nana vs shichi

and there's more examples in the whole language. it's just that when japanese took the kanjis from china, they also took the pronunciations for some reason (like loan words in europe)

  • Shichi is the 'On' pronounciation

Nana is the 'Kun' pronounciation of the Kanji.

It has something to do with the differences in Japanese and Chinese pronounciations of Kanji, though I'm not too sure - both are acceptable however.

  • AKEMASHITE OMEDETOU GOZAIMASU!!!

  • sorry I was wrong Right? Gomendesai
