  • if Florida sinks now we know who to blame. the all seeing somebody.

  • Did they play a show that same night at el rey theater? If so I was here.

  • love it...this is my bedtime song...lure me to sleep, singing along ^^

  • first song i learned how to play on the guitar. holds that awesome special place in my heart because of that.

  • important to remmber that we should base our decisions in the end on how WE feel, not how Against Me, or Stza, or anyone else feels..I've been reading alot about hypnosis techniques, and it;s scary how brainwashed people are and don;t even realize it,,, anyway, man, comment back if you want, I'm just into discussing these things

  • @citizencrack1986 Just curious... what do you mean with hypnosis and all? I think that some people go overboard with conspiracies, but that we shouldnt believe 100% of what we hear, like you said.

  • @mcrsnumb1 I'm reading about a guy named Milton Erickson who used "conversational hypnosis", which is hypnotizing sumone, or subconsciously influencing a person, either without doing a ritualistic hypnotic induction, or just by using a light trance state that they didn't even realize they were in, he did this in normal conversation and could cure people of problems in minutes that psychologists couldn't cure in years. basically the theory is that any effective communication that alters ...

  • @mcrsnumb1 a persons reality is hypnosis (like if sumone tells you story and make it sould so good that you are picturing what they are saying and forget temporarily that you are in the room. or even when you drive and then realize you were not paying atention to the road cuz you were lost in thought. ) these r all natural forms of hypnosis. i believe the Elite use Television and radio to effectivly influence us on a subconscious level. There istechnique called "Escalating the Yes Ladder"...

  • @mcrsnumb1 and I've seen/heard it many times on radio and TV.

  • now puppets to the rich. I've gone to punk shows like L.O.C., and just cuz i didn't have the right STYLE so to speak, i think sum folks thought i wasn't really a "punk" or whatever. i didn't start calling myself punk to look cool and dress different, i think whats more punk is reading a shitload of books, and searching within yourself as much as you search outside to find Truth and Peace, and then to use freethinking to help others do the same. what we all know isn;t EVER 100% right, and its

  • okay i like against me, and i know they are huge now so to speak, but I'm very disturbed about the pyramid with the eye behind them in this video. I'm sure all punks understand about the New World Order, and I'm wondering, did they put that behind them on the stage to more or less mock the Elite, or are they owned by the Elite now, like so many other bands who started out cool and eventually became puppets to the Illuminati and basically remolded and marketed to the masses..how old is this vid?

  • @citizencrack1986 i think your buggin yourself out to much man...even if there was a secret government organization like the illuminati they wouldn't be to concerned about a folk punk band from gainsville...no matter how revolutionary their lyrics use to be

  • @citizencrack1986 you have to remember its ideas that are important not coincidental symbols the eye and pyramid mean absolutely nothing the motives of power, action and ideology of the global elite do matter. to say all "punks" have researched the new world order is misleading too. I'm in what could be considered a punk group and we are anti state, anti war, anti fed but i've found most punks to be liberals who are just as brainwashed and ignorant to the truth as the right is.

  • @Depletethestate ya man, i know that in the end, the ideas and the stuff inside is what counts. i mean i don't have a mohawk etc., but i think that kind of style is a good way to show society that you do not agree with the status quo, etc. there are tons of ways to be punk, and believing in the NWO fucks isn't neccessarily one of them...it was just because i didn't know how old this vid was that i asked about it, because in my personal opinion based on observations i think they ARE now

  • its like every fucking video i watch that has to do with AM! has to do with "selling out". fuck dude, just let us kids like our "shitty sellout band."

  • @johnnygodisco STFU i don't care that they became famous, i'm really fucking happy they did. Tom dropped out of highschool and started this band, so i think it's fucking selfish that people hate them for becoming famous. I'm mad bc they used to have such passion with their music and it never sucked...Their new songs are terrible, utter shit. I wish they became famous of their first few albums b/c i highly doubt their fans would be that upset..

  • most boring crowd ever

  • I was at this show. It was awesome.

  • cazzu seisi troppu togusu

  • What a fucking boring crowd.

  • i love this so much, I love this band as well.

  • I was at this show.

  • You guys nailed this song!!! :)

  • Guys, in case you didn't notice, one of the songs on New Wave (White People For Peace) sounds somewhat like their old stuff, and Tom's solo album is totally old school AM!. They have not sold out, selling out is when you are in it only for the money and the fame.

  • @Xxxyzyz5698 People think selling out is making semi-pop songs instead of full anarcho-punk.

  • FUCK THE HATERS

  • just enjoy the song guys :)

  • well said

  • ok a band with lyrics like this gets 2 choices, 1st you continue playing in basements and small bars, and you're ok with your values, 2nd choice, you play in arenas, play on the radio and you make people know about your message, it's not about making money, but passing a message to the 15 years old kids dressed with 100$ jeans... the message didn't changed that much.. well ok the group is a lot softer now, but the message still matters

  • @louim001 The thing is now those aberacrombie kids are listening to against me thinking 'whoa im so badass and punk, thrash unreal is hardcore. mom! drive out in yer bmw and buy me a new copy of new wave!" when a band puts their music in fucking rock band a couple years after singing reinventing axl rose something has changed for the worse

  • i play in a blues band and we cover this song, love it

  • say what crap about them as u please. u wont change my opinion on Tom and Against Me! i fucking love them and always will no matter what

  • if you guys want to get technical with the whole "selling out" thing....selling out was originaly when people signed to EMI....is Against Me! signed to EMI? exactly so shut up...and even then, what do you consider selling out? being a band that 1. makes good music and 2. makes money? sorry, that is NOT selling out....

  • ummmm.. i don't think it necessarily means EMI particularly, i think it's about underground bands with anti capitalist politics signing to major (corporate, capitalist) labels and getting increasingly mainstream musically and politically. which is EXACTLY what against me has done. and that pisses me off, especially since i liked their old music and agreed with their old politics. i liked the anarchist, DIY band that glorified the choice to play in "basements and bookstores" instead of arenas.

  • They still play small club and house shows. And if you like a band why would you not want them to be successful? How do you exspect them to go on tour and make a living if they are not making any money. The way you do that is to eventually sign to a major label. However totally changing your musical style and beliefs to make a profit would be the definition of "selling out". Which is EXACTLY what Against Me has NOT done!

  • 100% agree, fuck everyone that sells they sell out.

If they don't make money, they dont make more music, plain and simple.

  • Saying Against Me! hasn't changed their musical style is flat-out wrong. Yeah, they'll still play the early awesome songs, like this one here, but the music they're making has lost its ethics and soul.

They're not BAD now, they've still got all their ability, but they're no longer the same great band that was stringently DIY and anti-capitalist, the band that wrote Baby, I'm An Anarchist and The Politics of Starving.

Reinventing Axl Rose is my favorite album this decade. New Wave isn't close.

  • They have grown as a band and written new songs, and Tom still preaches the same message. But they cannot keep writing Baby, I'm an Anarchist over and over. If you don't like it FIND A NEW BAND!

  • Why the fuck would I want to find a new band? They're not bad. New Wave was a pretty good album. I would pay lots of money to go see them.

All I'm saying is that if they had had basically the same band with a different name, like say Fugazi vs. Minor Threat (for all intents and purposes Ian was Minor Threat) , I'd love them so much more because I wouldn't expect them to be the folkpunk awesomeness that was their first two albums.

  • "Why the fuck would I want to find a new band?"

So you can like their first two albums, and when they write a new record that means something to them, and they hope you will love, you can tell everyone "Their old stuff was better". "I wish they would write their first album over again." "I only respect a band if they play shitty house shows and don't make any money". Get over it, dude. They did!

  • i forgot there was a problem with musicians with a purpose getting more fans so they can spread their POV and beliefs to the world.. is that not why they created their music in the first place? so they can tell the world what they feel, and why they feel it? maybe I'm wrong though...

  • yeah, the problem being that when they allow themselves to be hijacked by major corporations it consistently obscures and in some cases entirely removes their message. sometimes this is because of censorship, sometimes the musicians get greedy.

in addition to this, part of against me!'s original message was opposition to major labels, and commitment to DIY practices.

against me! has also changed their musical style significantly, and i just don't like their new stuff. it's disappointing.

  • Go listen to Teenage Anarchist (it's one of their new songs, theres a live version of it up) basically the song is saying he's grown up

  • watha hell

  • i think i was at that show... they played at slims later that night....

  • Nice one.. awesome song, found the ringer today at Complimentarysongs. Com great video exept the sound sux on my computer!

  • Ok. Honestly it kind of pisses me off when people say that this band sold out. They most certainly did not. They still sing about what they feel, and the practice what they preach. Sure, the music may sound different, but it's far from mainstream. You can't say that Americans Abroad and White People for Peace are not punk songs. People just expect exactly what they want out of artists, and its not really fair.

  • It's just that they do sound a lot different now, and that they're more mainstream. Punk has never been just about the lyrics. It's about how it sounds, you know? I for one, think they find it funny that people think they have sold out (which is what I think Don't lose touch is about) and they also are just playing what they love to play. Just because it doesn't sound like their old stuff doesn't mean it's bad. More power to them ;]

  • ya. It must be bad that the music actually sounds like it was recorded in a real studio than a basement.

That's what everyone is butt hurt about. They are a much tighter band, and "punks" think its better that you sound like crap.

Against Me's new stuff is just as good as their old stuff. More power to them.

  • ok... i'm not gonna say they sold out, as in they just changed the way their songs are for money, but they most definitely changed. As for your "punks think it better that you sound like crap" comment.... you're right, it's kind of in the punk ethic of DIY recordings in a basement that is so great. They don't DIY anymore, therefor they sold out in that respect. They also changed their message from anarchy to getting drunk at a party... doesn't T-pain sing about that? Tom's solo album is good

  • They changed their message to what? Go read the lyrics.

  • what do u mean?

  • To be honest, i dont think punk music is based on how it sounds, i think punk music is all about the lyrics and its meaning. Against Me!'s newer songs still relate very much with their older songs just with a different sound. how is playing songs you love, paying for gas for all the tours, earning more money for all their hard work, and have a little extra for everything they have done to this point selling out? Against Me! is close to their fan base, just talk to them on myspace... they respond

  • too bad they couldnt stick to the folk punk roots and have to play shitty pop now

  • this has to be their best song

  • Totally agree with specialska47...they played thrash unreal so much on the radio and i loved it so much so i searched some other songs and now i no almost all their music and they are one of my favorite bands!!!

  • this will one day be an oldie but goodie.

  • I've been listening to them for a good 4 or 5 years now. And they are still by far one of my favourite bands.

  • these songs give me chills.. so good

  • as a floridian i argee with every word of this song

  • If Thrash Unreal hadn't been played a million times on the radio where I lived, I never would have heard about them. And now....and now they're one of the greatest bands I've ever heard. This Shit Rules!!!!

  • same with me

  • the warped tour showed them to me

  • Warped tour for me too.

    (TSR) awsome song!!

  • for me it's always been pints of Guinness makes you strong. there is something about the heartache and sadness of that song that gets me everytime.

  • ahh its a classic!!

  • Unsubstantiated Rumors or Cavalier Eternal. Love those

  • that and disco before the breakdown were the first 2 against me songs i ever listened to... they are still my favorite songs to this day O_O

  • could bring the whole world together with that song

  • yea man i love we laugh at danger and totally agree with wat u said about it but another really good song is those anarcho punks are so mysterious the part of the song where he goes and we rock because its us against them we found our own reasons to song and its so much less confusing when lines are drawn like that when ppl are either consumers or revolutionaries enemies or friends hangin on the fringes of the cogs in the system. i love that. seeing them on oct. 8th!!!
  • its just about knowing where everyone stands

all of a sudden people start talking bout guns

talking like they're going to war

they've found something to die for!

  • haha

    yep

    i fucking love it

  • ummm, whats up with that backdrop?

  • to against me, against you-

i saw these guys live and personally, you JUST HAVE TO be there. i didn't even purposely lie down in the grass next to their stage while they were playing but i did recognize baby i'm an anarchist when they played it and singing along, it felt like my life was lying there with me and the clear blue sky couldn't have looked more inviting to fall into.

  • you totally need to make a song into what you just said

  • against me are amazing and this is one of my favorite songs either this or slurring the rhythm

  • Who wants to comment on the video?

  • i would like to

  • yeah i'll second that.

  • I'll third it!

  • ???4th????

  • 5th!

  • 6th

  • this is my favorite song they do

  • i love this band!

  • I wish I could have been there. Against Me! is one of the few bands that's that in-touch with the crowd. Their older stuff had a lot of group singing, which put the crowd right in the action. At first I didn't like their new stuff, but it grew on me the more I listened to it. This song is right up there with "We Laugh At Danger (And Break All the Rules)". They've got meaning to their songs...that's probably my favorite thing about Against Me!.

  • we laugh at danger (and break all the rules) is probably THE best against me! song ever. the energy that they put into even the recorded versions of their songs, let alone the live ones, is just beyond incredible.

  • yeah i know what you mean, its one of my faves too. but "walking is still honest" is my fave lyrically <3333... and "thrash unreal" too. its hard to choose, i like pretty much every AM! song written lol

  • Boooo! thrash! Boooo!

  • What's wrong with it?

  • Amoeba Records Hollywood!

    I was there!

  • I love these guys...they sound really good! They have their very own Kyte Channel where they produced their very own content!! Worth checking out..it's on their Official Myspace!

  • yeah and that song is called "stop"

  • soulja boy sucks if u dont like against me! then dont post other shit about other music

  • They really didn't make a whole load of money with the new label. sure the record was more 'polished'. but the songs have the same meanings they've been spitting our for years.. those years your supported them.. quit bashing bands that finally get the recognition they deserved for being so great and form your own opinions instead of being afraid to like a band that's 'cool' now. against me will always rock. tom is an amazing artist regardless of what he does, deal with it and quit cryin'.

  • one of the bests

  • really energetic crowd at this one....

  • Shut the fuck up about the stupid sellout arguments everyone!

  • i get to see these guys this weekend oh and please rate my song

  • This is the song taht got me Hooked on Against me!, from a Burnt CD of my brother's, I Had my Ear drums Raped by The coolest sound I've ever heard

  • anyone who has ears and eyes can tell they are not doing this for money.its not for street cred. they need to make money, to live. you cant do that in a basement. they are being payed for promoting a good message and geting their words out.

just to a biger audience...apparently speaking from the heart isnt punk rock any more.

    you guys are morons.

  • you are totally right. I keep trying to explain that to my boyfriend, but he's an idiot ;]

  • Whoa-Whoaoohaho!

I dig this song. And love that the crowd sings 99% of the song =D

  • why they perform disco before the breakdown so rarely? it's the best song of the band

  • Live performances are so much better outside...its so weird how it makes such a difference

  • this is one of those bands that no matter how hard they tried, they could never make bad music. everything they make is just pure genius and amazing.

  • why would you try to make bad music?

  • some bands have done it to become unfamous.

  • im pretty sure paul mcartney is good at that

  • i didnt really mean it like that, as if they would literally try to make bad music lol. i was just meaning that they are so good that even "if" they tried it would still be good music. you know what i mean?

  • i agree with the tmoney man

who would even want to make bad music let alone try?

unless you completely suck at playing instruments theres no such thing as "bad music"

  • yeah there is. you cant seriously say that songs like "chocolate rain" and "soulja boy" are good music.

  • Haha well, I can't say I like those songs. In fact I do hate them. But it's not bad music, because someone obviously likes it. Even though I'd never let it be heard by anyone if it was up to me.

  • Obviously youve never heard of anal cunt

  • fuckin right

  • Well I suppose I'll always have better English than you.

  • amazing comeback. when your name is a dazzling display of perfect english. tard.

  • Perhaps it is a bit contradicting. But I can at least say people are able to understand what my name says, considering there are 2 numbers that replace a total of 5 letters mainly for the purpose of space and it is a little bit clever at most.

  • Use proper grammar.

It makes your insults more meaningful.

  • HAHAHA

  • Yes, indeed very good, saw an acoustic show in Chicago at the Metro-far out indeed

  • why dont they come to germanyyy?? want to see them live :-( :-(

  • I saw these guys live. <3

  • Against Me! will always be amazing. get used to it.

  • yes it sounds really great!!

  • They aren't anymore.

  • NOT ONE MOOORE WOOOOOORD TONITE... fuckin awesome !

  • Oh yeah, and either fuckin way, I still love this band.

  • you know you people say that they've changed too much or they've sold out. i bet if they didn't change you'd say they were boring. if you had the chance to be more famous as band, you'd be a moron not to take it.you think they want to live off small venue money for the rest of their lives?

  • Well fuck, if they really were anarchists, they wouldnt care. If the reson they changed is for money, than yeah, they're hypocrites. If you've heard Reinventing Axle Rose, or Baby, I'm and Anarchist, you would know what I'm talking about.

  • yeah,i have heard all their earlier stuff and you're right, but they're still an awesome band and i guess that's their decision if they need more money. at least they aren't selling their songs to commercials. that would suck.

  • Who gives a fuck if its pop punk, or crust punk, or street punk or hardcore punk or punk in general. Its fucking music and its meant to be enjoyed, not argued over. Ive listened to all kinds of music, and I can tell that this shit comes from their hearts, and thats what matters. Get over it if you don't like it, make your own music and listen to it.

  • Awesomely put [Copies and pastes]

  • thank you

  • I love you.. lol

  • Aahahaha, comes from their heart? More like it comes from their wallets. I mean, you've got to be joking me. Not only was that the corniest thing I've read in a week, it's total bull.

Music may not be meant to be argued over, but that's what happens. Listeners voice their opinions. Opinions clash with each other. Music itself IS an opinion, it's people voicing their thoughts and feelings.

  • People arguing over music is natural, so YOU get over it, and leave your preachy "from the heart" doucheness in the garbage where it belongs.

All of that said, Against Me! has changed their sound, which is a very natural thing for a band to do... They've just done a piss-poor job of it. They went from a good, raw, no-shit punk sound with some real fucking balls to this watery, generic, corporate pussy bullshit.

  • It's a real goddam shame too. Oh well, I'll keep listening to the good they've done, and try and scrape the existance of their new crap off the inside walls of my brain before it's too late.

  • Yeah thats what I do, I do agree with you, their new albums do suck, but im not bitching about them like you are. I think that's also alot of the reason they don't have the whole punk 'no bullshit' attitude, its because punks bitch too much. Trust me it gets old real fast.

Just listen to what sounds good, and be calm and positive. Don't like something? Move on, it's not worth your time.

  • I disagree, since I like the new album, but I wouldn't want to start an argument or anything. Still, you're completely right, listen to what sounds good, and be calm and positive. Great advice to a lot of idiots.

  • Lol, like I said, quit being a punk and bitching over shit you hate. Because all it is doing is making you dwell on hatred.

Once you grow up a little bit, maybe you'll realize that the "corporation" isn't really out there to kill you.

Oh and by the way, you might wanna bite your tongue over what you say is "watery, generic and PUSSY" because your name is username was nothing but as a well.

  • My bad, I totally forgot that influencing and revolutionizing an entire generation of music is "watery, generic, and pussy".

As I stated before, you don't have to like every band, but you should show respect where respect is due. For example, I don't care for Guns N Roses, but I'm at least mature enough to respect their accomplishments and what they did for music.

  • I'll just remind you that Butch Vig, who produced "Nevermind," produced "New Wave," and take my leave.

  • your latest album would sound like that too if you had the budget that Sire Records gives their bands, and had Butch Vig producing it. Get over it

  • That statement pretty much means nothing to me, what you're talking about only perpetuates a negative action our society and our race has created.

The human race is so full of themselves haha.

  • And you're not human?

  • Haha, sometimes I like to think so, but no. Im confident in condemning my own race for our fallacies.

  • so before you go and critique me, actually listen to new wave. it is actually HORRIBLE. you cannot say that white people for peace is actually any good. its damned near anti-protest. and the "mosh pit" you attempt to venerate exists in just about any for of music. Pop punk included. Think about what you say. I don't want to attack you personally, as Im not a douche bag, but i will say that you ought to know what you talk about before you begin glorifying overblown "hardcores" and "mosh pits".

  • thank you very much sparkytank. i actually just did see their show at t5 on saturday. Pop punk it most definitely is. thank god they played some of their old stuff, and thank god for World/inferno. in that "mosh pit" a bunch a fucking pussies are running around. half of the bastards said sorry when i whacked them. Hardcores? do you mean the massive packs of hipsters standing around looking cool?

  • Crime and Axl Rose

    New Wave sucks

I miss the old against me

  • i dont really like the new shit.

the against me oldies were pretty

    sick.

  • though i was surprised to see them on mtv, i still love the shit out of em. theyve been my favorite band for like 5 yrs now and though ive heard a lot of their music change, they are still fucking great.

  • If you actually asked THEM they would tell you they ain't punk, and they ain't sell outs. Go to one of their shows ass bag and get punched in the lip by some hardcores. I bet a girl would take you out. In the mosh pit, pop punk? Like simple plan? Hahaha. Do better asshole.

  • oh against me. i dont say they are sell outs. they are merely not the same band. Against me is now pop-punk. especially with the apathy drenched white people for peace, they have severed themselves from any past they had with axl rose or eternal cowboy. no longer are they screaming kill whitey at the top of their lungs at the cops in their cars or the men in their suits. Im sorry, but Against me is now a mainstream, par pop-punk group.

  • your a fuckin idiot just because you dont like there new stuff doesnt mean they sold out it just means your a closed minded piece of shit your not a true fan

  • um. i said "i dont say they are sell outs."

i say they have evolved from punk to pop punk. different than sell outs. Not a fan- of their new stuff, no. of their old stuff, absolutely.

  • i went to there show at the canal club two nights ago it was sick as shit

  • OMG SEEING THEM TMRO NIGHT!

  • lol Aganint me! sell outs? that is a very funny comment. Would a sell out band tour all around playing FREE SHOWS? Um no!!! lol you people make me laugh!

  • do u mean the el ray in alb

  • go FLA

  • yep, one of the favorites.

  • That's gotta be my favorite Against Me! song.

Can't stop listening the Live version on New Wave's DVD. Hope I'll see them live someday.

  • all the people below need to shut up, these guys are local they lived in my neighborhood in Naples, Florida. and ive been listening to them since ive been over the lead singers house and i also know his brother and hang out with him. there not sell outs so suck my balls. :]

  • I was there! Gotta love free shows... That was at Ameoba, Hollywood. Got a great show and some great CDs.
