Last Part

All those songs are a treasure, and today form a part of the cultural heritage of Pakistan ! PTV workers of all categories made those wonderful things possible. Ilyas Sahib was one of them !

If I am not mistaken,I have personally known him.I was a news producer at PTV Lahore when he worked there. Not only this, I was the General Secretary of the great PTV Lahore Union of which Ilyas Sahib was a member. Ilyas Sahib, please correct me if I am wrong !

Part IV

After so many tragedies and suffering, the people of Pakistna got an almost unanimously adoped Constitution. The poem "Intisab" refers to various categories of the population that suffered in one form or another. That Constitution crowned those sacrifices with success, and the choice to present this peom on that day was, in itself, a great deed.

The Shoaib programmes put Nayyara in into the lime light. And Nayyara in her voice depicted, portrayed, and relayed Faiz !

Mr Aslam Azhar was the MD of PTV Corporation. It was the age of enlightenment in PTV. In those programmes Nayyara sang many poems of Faiz Sahib. I remember the poem "Intisab". It was written by Faiz Sahib, originally , in a diffent context (preface to his book "Sar e Wadi e Sina"). But, SHOAIB HASHMI AND THE TEAM PRESENTED IT TO THE PEOPLE OF PAKISTAN AS A GIFT ON THE COMING INTO FORCE OF THE CONSTITUTION OF 1973.

Part II

And more original. It dates back to the time Shoaib Hashmi and family (Saleema, and perhaps "Meezoo") also, used to run a programme from PTV Lahore titled "Sachh Gap". They perhaps ran other programmes as well.

Faiz Sahib had been "zer a ataab" for many long years. In Mr Z.A. Bhutto's time he honoured that government by accepting the post of Adviser in Ministry of Culture (a very senior level post).

It is a great song and a great upload. Thank you. A few months ago, in my comments on the same poem sung by Nayyara Noor, I had said that "I have a more than 30 years old version of this song on an audio casset. But, I do not dare to listen to it because it is so painful. Yet I think every day about this poem as sung by her, espcially "Jiss Ghari, Seenoon Mein Doobay Hooway Dil...."

The version posted here is even older than that.

NN has such a sweet , young girl-like voice even in her adult life. How wonderful that you played the tabla for her and your instrumentalist friend Shahid Toosi composed for her. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
