Nice job mang. What make and model Sony cam are you using? Dont tell me "Sony Handycam with night shot plus". I need to know like model numbers. Are there any with the old night shot plus that used sd memory cards or did they always use those mini tapes? Thanks.
Sadly No, the way it works is due to a filter inside the camera, as you flick a swith to turn on the IR LED it also removes the Filter, thats why its a bit clunky... the only way to convert it into real nightvision is to crack it open and remove the IR filter thats blocking infrared light... BUT DONT!!!!
sell it and get a DCR-SR36E, its a 30gb HDD sony camcorder...small light and cheap. about £60 second hand on ebay ;)
Oh forgot to mention, one problem i'm having with these torches, is the batteries are not lasting long at all, a few miniutes & when this happens you lose distance on ur night vision, i'm using 1000mah batteries too, rechargable!!
@WSPICOTC Oh iright, are those rechargeable one's? What MAH are they?? Coz i'm using 1000MAH! Does ur torch get quite warm when it;s on? Mine does within no time, not sure if it''s supposed to or not!
@WSPICOTC Thank's for your help on this! I've ordered some rechargeable Duracells though, see what there like!! Do you know much about invisble infrared, coz i have a camcorder that uses these type LED's & it cannot see light from the infrared torches??
The torch he shows here is no longer available on ebay, at least at a low price...there is however some similar models, but they have less LEDS, but there just over £4 delivered from China!! There are UK sellers selling the same torch for nearly £20!!
@WSPICOTC Yup it looks it, it has way more LED's on it than the current one's there selling!! You never know it may come back in stock at some point at a cheap price again hopefully!!
@DanielWilkinsonLIVE the only light seen by the naked eye is a very dim red glow if you look closely... and that can only be seen if yo look directly at the LEDs
what mouse is that i see?

Great idea! I love gadgets and making my own, this is absolutely great. Now I will have to go to EBay.. something I normally would not ... :)
