  • This is my second fav Dan Mangan tune. If you guys haven't checked out "Tragic Turn of Events/Move Pen Move" yet you should. Poet Shane Koyczan collaborated on it and it is incredibly moving.

  • also won the award for sexiest beard in a music video

  • @NickRohla25 jajajaja indie/bear

  • fascinating - chilling - quiet

  • lol when i clicked on this i thought it said Die Mannequin

  • @kobekeve You need to learn how to read.

  • This always reminds me of someone who changed my life and is now gone.

This is not a bad memory...

This is certainly not a bad song, but you all know that, because you're all listeing to it right now.

  • This was edited in under 30 minutes? wow

  • @MisterMoccasin I think that the category was "Films that are Under 30 Min" and this won out of that selection

  • @MisterMoccasin haha no, the thing iteself is under 30minutes.

  • Love this!

  • Esta cancion es increible (:

  • he has an epic beard

  • hey dan, are we cool now?

  • Seeing him play tonight :) Can't wait

  • My friend showed me him the other day and I am in love. This is the exact kind of artist I've been looking for. He's a new favourite and I'm so excited to see what else he'll produce. Thanks for making great music, Dan! xx

  • Who is the girl singing with him?

  • @nlddancer I think Laura Veirs, I forgot.

  • @nlddancer @BBQPeanut I think it's actually Veda Hille. Would make a little more sense since she's also from Vancouver.

  • @Fishwiltz It would also make sense since it's written in the description! Veda Hille (Vocals, Casio, Piano)

    :)

  • THANKS ROC.

  • Sometimes, it's the simplest words that have the biggest effect. That said, this song is nothing short of beautiful. Any other word doesn't do it justice.

  • i thought my computer was lagging :P

  • seeing him in 12 days!

  • @kellmonster He's so good live! I saw him this summer, and I got to touch his beard after. It was amazing.

  • @ZoeSquared21 his beard or the show? :P

  • @Torigu Both.

  • @kellmonster in Toronto?

  • it reminds me of "Once" and the artists singing there

  • This guy is fantastic!!! One guy who will be big without jumping on the back of "Canadian Content" :-) Good luck, mate!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG BRO!!

  • thought my computer was lagging at first, actually. great song.

  • I love dan Mangan with my whole heart ,, of gold

  • naaawww, i wuv tis song

  • I'd say he looks more like David Denman but I guess that Seth Rogen is more famous so more people would get the reference.

  • Haha, cool to see Canadian money in a music video. :P Woot woot, happy Canada Day all!!!

  • Prepare to cry.

  • so authentic.....

  • 2 people thinks that Seth Rogen is sexier...

  • how do i get to that diner?

  • dan mangan and city and colour should do something together

  • @butterknucklez i dont mind dallas green, but even though he is the more popular musician, dan mangans writing styles and abilities are far superior then dallas's, i just couldnt see the two of them be able to collaborate.dan tells stories, dallas's music is just way to depressing

  • @311Ev thanks for sharing man!

    haha im kidding

it just sounded like you were just bagging on dallas green

i know dan mangan is awesome, i just thought, after hearing this song, and how his voice and the girls voice went so well together, i thought they should sing on something together

i dont really need to hear how you dont like dallas green

    BUT THANKS MAN!

  • @butterknucklez sorry for expressing my own opinion, but at which point did i say i dont like dallas? nope, dont see it. you know what really gets me, how people can love his music so much. ya i have some of his stuff, but there are so many better song writers that dont get the same opportunities, dan mangan could be an example. just saying it blows my mind that there are songwriters with so much more talent, and theyll never sell out massy hall.

  • @311Ev and also its not like dallas green is writing songs just to be more popular

he aint some mindless pop singer like britney spears, jumping on what ever is the most popular right now

both dallas and dan put their hearts and souls in their music

  • @butterknucklez in my opinion, the only reason he has a solo career is because he was already know through aof.

  • @311Ev i love both those guys. they writevery diffrntly. i agree, bad colab.

  • @butterknucklez I concur

  • @butterknucklez

    Fuck Dallas Green.

  • @aesop232186 dont be hatin

  • haha 2 dislikes!

  • i hate how nowadays music is all auto tuned. we need more people like Dan with raw talent that shows that there are still people with real talent out there

  • LOVE IT!!!!! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!!

  • Great music, great video!

  • love this man's music.

  • Tunes Award Winner 2010

  • <3

  • if you like dan mangan you should listen to stefan honig too. He's a german musician inspired by artists like dan mangan.

  • can't stop listening.

  • Aww, such a lovely film clip to go with such a lovely song.

  • Beautifully filmed video :-)

First time stumbling upon your music, after searching rocky votalato and denison witmer and damien jurado and damien rice videos this came up as a suggestion beautiful gem of a video

  • :,(

  • I'm realy asking myself: Why hasen't it more views

  • I bught this album today. I am a rap artist, an mcee. his is typically not my type of music, but great song writing is undeniable, and I've yet to here a song by this artrist that I don'tlike. And aftter peeling back the plastic, reading the end notes and hearing this album as a whole, I've grpwn to appreciate the control, the passivity, the careful writing of this Canadan singer/song writer. cosigned

  • @thusano2 gud 4 u...hip hop is the first kind of music i fell in love with...ive mellowed out as i got older but can appreciate anything with heart and thats not over produced to sound like the last big thing...guud luck and congrats for stepping out and listening to sumthin im sure is way out of ur normal taste

  • Filmed at my FAVORITE diner in Calgary...The Belmont

  • @chexymexy REALLY!? cool

  • obviously, two peole dont know what indie music is supposed to sound like :l

  • hy ex ashley introduced me to dan mangan. glad she introduced me to him.

  • @521f please learn your stuff before comparing two artists and making arrogant and derogatory comments. thanks

  • @521f Pt.II - Both artists lyrics are fueled by the hardships of life. Although mangan does not have the same experience with substance abuse that cobain does, he has a similar feeling of regret and the pains of losing someone. On another note, the number of hits someone has has no direct impact to how good the music is. some tween girl could watch a justin bieber music video 10000000 times and it doesnt make it good.(i am ashamed bieber is canadian). there is no difference in the artistic value

  • @521f first of all, your comment was absolutely ridiculous. the points you made were unrelated to the music. " dirty, no talent, aids monkey" you also made a comment about his voice; you say your favourite band is nirvana, cobain's voice is no better. Mangan and Cobain both have a rugged, you could say imperfect voice. even though mangan and nirvana have a different sound, the lyrics tell a very similar story if you look deeper into the meaning which i assume you cannot due to your post.

  • true artists are ones that are better live than on a recording. way to go dan.

  • Dan you make beautiful music that makes for especially beautiful days, so thanks for that.

  • Dan,

Many years ago, just before he passed away, my dear friend RJ said, “ are we cool now”. A great tune man.

  • just saw him on wed in calgary...i have a new love:))

  • Nice song, nice video. Veda Hille!

  • i like it how his vids actually make sense with the song, unlike some other songs where the vid makes NO sense with the song

  • It is so hard to put into words how this song makes me feel. But it always seems to strike such a positive cord with me when I hear it.

I guess the best way to describe it is it makes me feel very Zen.

  • i've been to that diner many times!

  • @bombshell303 Where is it?

  • How could someone hate his music??? His music is just amazing.

  • @trapiche101 Well, there are 731 likes and 3 dislikes. Meaning a less than 1%, in fact less than 0.5% of people clicked 'dislike'. Notice I said 'clicked' dislike, rather than just dislike. Because it's statistically likely that, given the proximity of the like and dislike button, and the number of people using laptops with inaccurate touch pads, the 3 dislikes were most likely accidental.

Therefore my friend, EVERYBODY loves dan mangan :)

  • i love this song. i listen to it just about everyday

  • I agree, puberty is a really difficult time for a lot of girls.

  • Yeah, puberty can be really rough for girls.

  • hijodemilputa! no puede estar tan bueno!

  • Beautiful and just what I needed to hear.

  • its remember me the magic numbers .. i liked a loot ..

  • 3:19 - 3:23, HIS FACE CAN'T GET ANY CUTER!!! Such a great SONGGG! :D

  • i love this so much... it's so beautifully melancholy.. i'm listening on my ipod and i'm out walking in the pouring rain. <3

  • I knew that place the minute I saw the church-pew-like-must-have-perfect-posture-absolutely-no-slouching benches! Marda loop, so lovely

    I enjoyed the video :)

  • anyone else think he looks like seth rogen?

  • @kt0117 yes, even more so in person

  • @kt0117 I think he's Seth Rogen's musical alter-ego.

  • Just discovered Dan Mangan from the Audio selections on Air Canada... awesome... thanks Dan... you make the flight pass beautifully... hope to see you Ottawa :-)

  • me los acaban de reocomendar y tengo q decir que me cayo perfecta

la cancion para un domingo lluvioso de septiembre

  • Adore the album.

    Come to Singapore (:

  • @Faorin Go ahead, call me a troll, the fact that I spent 5 minutes writing a factually objective comment on this video only makes me a music fan with a correct opinion. Just please, please, please don't call me someone thats actually stupid enough to listen to boring, banal, bland, tepid, sterile shit like Dan Mangan. No matter what you say, the fact remains that your promoting shitty music by defending it. Your life is therefore a mistake. "Are we cool now" lololololol. Your a fucking fag Dan.

  • @521f music is subjective man.

you may not like it, but this guy is obviously doing something right.

in my opinion he is not my favorite song writer, but i do enjoy listning to his music.

i think you need to relax.

im not trying to be rude.

also, the "music fan with a correct opinion" thing is very ignorant, because who are you to say some one else's opinion is wrong and yours is right.

  • @FOT368 Music is NOT subjective you dumbass. Certain opinions have more virtue than others. For example, people who believe that the music of Handel is more refined and mature than the music of Justin Bieber can authentically state that their opinions are correct and that individuals who believe otherwise or wrong. Opinions are not equivalent to truth, nor do they negate truth. You have the opinions of a pathetic little shithead, grow up.

  • @521f alright dude, rad thanks.

  • @521f Just because you have an opinion on a song or style of music, that does not mean that it is perfectly fine for you to go out of your way to insult Dan Mangan as much as you please. I believe that the phrase "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" applies here perfectly.

Also, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You are certainly right about some styles of music deserving less respect than others (JBeiber, Lady Gaga) but this isn't mainstream shit.

  • @521f

Funny how 12 year old people tell adults to grow up. But I guess time is changing.

  • @521f it took you five minutes to write that?

honestly grow up and stop watching videos you hate

  • @Xloi63 lol grow up and stop listening to Dan Mangan you loser

  • @521f You don't like it, thats fine, don't listen to it, and don't write comments offending other people. And I notice you are a scholar, sorry about the grammar....

  • @521f Well that's an overgeneralization if I've ever seen one.

Sure, people comparing Handel to Justin Bieber would be flat out ignorant, but I happen to think that comparing Bieber to Dan Mangan would generate a similar response.

You want to hit people over the head with your beliefs under a veil of misused knowledge and transparent logic? Fine, be a dick, that's cool, please, just try to leave us poor plebeians to our shitty music, while you go listen to some obscure music everyone else hates

  • @trapjak "while you go listen to some obscure music everyone else hates" -uummmmmm this video only has 66, 373 hits. Meanwhile, my favourite band, Nirvana has a video with 22 million hits. Blow me, fuckface.

  • @521f bwahaha!!!! your 'favorite band' would have a big laugh at your reasoning.... you do know Nirvana was pretty much against the fame? that's apparently one of the reasons yer man shotgunned himself. couldnt take the popularity... and you go and refer to the number of hits.. LOL.. yeah you may like the sound of Nirvana but you missed the point completely you stupid lil fuk. Methinks Kurt would have liked Mangan too...

  • @521f awesome. compare hits! lets play your game then... beiber got more hits than nirvana? is he better? LOL

ur digging a hole... keep digging! speaking of opinions having a value as to who gives them... who are you?. anyways... MY OPINION IS hes good. he does what he wants to and he does it well. so did nirvana. so does beiber. i dont like beiber but for what he is doing, hes doing well.

  • @ssinn Wow. If you had actually bothered to read the comment I was responding to, somebody was accusing me of listening to "obscure music that no one else likes". Thus, I pointed out that my favourite artist was more well liked than the artist of whoever was criticizing me, and that their point was therefore redundant. I don't think that artists with more hits are necessarily better.

On a side note, your opinion is worthless as you don't even know how to spell or write a complete sentence.

  • @521f It took you five minutes to write that? You're kidding, right? Suck a dick? All you faggots? Yes, such creative words and they definitely do a good job of expressing why you think he's bad because he's a dirty, ugly, no-talent AIDS monkey? It's funny, when I listen to music I tend to think more about how the music sounds than how often the singer bathes or how good he (saying that because Dan's a guy) looks, or whether he has a sexually transmitted disease (or a tail?). Troll harder.

  • @platypae333 obviously you don't think about much at all when you listen to music if you actually like this pathetic shit.

  • @521f Great comeback. I don't actually love this song by him but it's nice enough.... I have to say that comment about obscure music (not mine) was extremely stupid. But seriously, you're comment wasn't an a good argument, you talked about how he looked, how much he smelled (because you could smell him through your speakers?), and a bunch of things that AREN'T music related.

  • @521f Oh, good thing that is the only point of mine that you could combat, I was worried there for a second you'd come back with some actual facts or rebuttals. Now I bid you adieu, "fuckface".

PS, yea NIrvana and Dan Mangan play some pretty different music, I could understand why you personally wouldn't enjoy it, but not why you personally are an idiot and chose to express your idiotic beliefs on a wall with music that wouldn't even effect you should you chose to, oh I don't know, not listen?

  • The artist dueting with Dan is another fantastically talented artist: Veda Hille.

    Check her music out.

  • Would've been better if he filmed this at Bon's

  • just saw him at the calgary folk festival! so good

  • gotta love the Vancouver indie music scene. some amazing talent here, obviously ;)

  • I think I've got a better idea on the chords:

    Main verse is D F#m Em A7

    Other part is G, F#m, Em, F then G, D, Em, F

It's not exactly what he's playing, but tries to bring in the accordion's chords... probably not 100%, but maybe a good start?

  • Belmont diner! Calgary!

  • A lot of people are looking for chords for this guy... Through the main parts I think it's D->F#m->Em->A... stumped on the bridge though
