I have this flag with the Beatles on it ,bought it at a yard sale in Forest Hill Toronto in the eighties along with a few other beatle things for ten dollars.I was so thrilled about getting it,had never seen another one until I saw yours.A favourite of mine
I saw the Beatles at Maple Leaf Gardens when I was very young, well I may have been 7 or 8. My parents bought us tickets for about $5.00. I don't remember alot, it's a bit of a blur now but but I do remember loads of screaming and tears, and people standing in their seats so I couldn't see but for me the most memorable moment was when Paul got down on one knee at the beginning of "If I Fell". I kept the ticket stub for years, we sat in what was referred to as the 'blues'. Don't know what hap
Wow! what an experience to have actually seen them live! i never did! sure wish someone had of filmed the Toronto show? would love to have a copy of that if anyone out there has one! i'm sure it exists somewhere! i'n the meantime there's a great dvd i purchased on e-bay! has a green cover & says The Beatles live! it has a green cover! it's awesome! it contains 4 full length concerts! all uncut! 2 are B&W & the other are Colour, get your hands on this dvd if you can?
Lucky me was also at that concert, floor seats that my friend and I purchased through a ticket agent the day before they went on sale at the Gardens, so we went down anyhow, showed off our tickets and I got interviewed by W5! And, you couldn't hear them singing from the floor either...lots of screaming! I'm still exited that I was there!
My sister and I were fortunate enough to have been at the 1964 show at the Gardens. Our dad called home and asked if we wanted to see the Bugs - finally figured out he meant the Beatles. Said to give him a few minutes...he called us back and had gotten us 4th row Floor tickets. What a memory to have been there and seen them live.
Thanx for your post. Cool story. I'm a huge Beatles fan who grew up in England. Now living outside Toronto. I saw the Leafs play at the Gardens a few times plus Oasis about ten years ago. Hope they do something worthy with the building. The facade is majestic and needs to be preserved. You are a lucky guy to have seen the Beatles their.
Very cool...enjoyed it alot! maple Leaf gardens was one of approx 2 or 3 different North Americian venues that The Beatles played in during their three concert tours.
Beatle songs? No Reply, Elanor Rigby, Tomorrow Never Knows, Every Little Thing, For No One, You Can't Do That, Sexy Sadie, I Want To Tell You...I tend to go for the songs that weren't singles.
Oh my God, you have a REMCO doll! Aren't those super rare? I love that flag; Canada would get its own flag a few months later. How old were you when you saw them?
I used to have all four Remco dolls plus boxes but I sold them some time ago and kept this extra one I had of Paul. I was 13 when I saw them. Perfect age, don't you think?
Yeah, it must have been fab to see them as a teenager; I'm sure most of the audience were around your age. Were the Toronto fans typically more reserved than the American ones? And do you still live in Toronto?
The audience was very young. I was 13. There were a lot of parents there as well. I'd say that the Toronto girls screamed as well as their American counterparts. I do still live in Toronto, well, just outside in Mississauga.

Actually, at the time the Canadian flag was the Red Ensign, not the Union Jack. The Red Ensign looked very similar to the Ontario flag.
