I think Mike was a necessary stage for the band, but their time with Al seems more productive and better (in my eyes). Not like I don't like the older tunes, but I've met the guys and hung out with them a bit in January. Al is a fuckin' awesome guy, so maybe I'm a bit biased.

Mike McColgan is the only real singer for Dropkick Murphy's. I'm not saying Al Barr isn't talented..but the band took a heavy turn for the worst when he joined, by his fault or not. Do or Die is the essential album for this band if you want authentic folk street punk. For all nonsense involving Al Barr - see "Pop Punk to Please the Masses"
