  • haha that was badass!

  • This video was Amazing. I am from San Antonio, Texas and have done a few myself. Look up Our Fantastic Life. I was in it won best music I believe. It ad to have a calender as a prop, The tag line was "Get that thing away from me." our Character was Thelma or Tim a personal assistant. Our genre was Fantasy please view and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed your film.

  • Wow! Very nice job. Loved the cinematography, and the editing was well done and kept the pacing just right. Deserved winner for sure good sir.

  • Stange how she hides the ring but has to expose it when she gets fingered? Why not just leave the ring hidden?

  • @huskyjerk Lolwhenitgetsfingered.

  • What was up with the acting

  • everything was nice and dandy , but the acting was weak

  • Nice job! The loft space look like Chase funny lol!

  • Really nice but the acting could use a little work. :)

  • very nice. great music, great lighting and camera work. Really liked the varying colors, set the mood from slightly warm to chilling.

  • Great cinematograph and lighting

    Very good editing

    you earned it guys

  • very impressive. i don't believe you. awesome touch.

  • awesome as fuck!!!!

  • Great sound design....is it original music?

  • @wideeyewonder Yes. I has to be by the rules. It wasn't written for the contest, there would be no way no time to do something this great. But my friend signed the forms to be able to use his songs. So if you know anyone who has good music and would be willing to sign it to your film it really helps rather than using stock music.

  • Great job! Do they give you any equipment or did you have to have your own?

  • @polypeptide You need your own equipment of all kinds. They don't provide anything. But hey, if you have an iPhone and a great idea you can do one easy!!! ;)

  • Nice nice! Love the 48HFP. Our city was just last weekend. 2009 Winner! Small crews are kinda nice. EVERYONE was on camera. But which one of you dudes is Colby Williams? That's my son's name!

  • @geyck Yeah, I was the one not on screen. I was to busy being behind the camera, haha. Thanks for your comment. Colby is the main guy in the film.

  • The quality of the production I loved but i hated the subject "so if you don't love me I kill you" typical masculine fantasy role playing. TO pick a hot girl and abuse her, and here in an artistic manner with music etc... I wouldn't give many lines to an unexperienced actor.

  • well, the cinematography was good, the sound was good, the lighting was good. But the acting was.....

  • Excellent job guys. Good lighting, shooting, acting is decent too. Editing...you must have had an unbelievable team. Best wishes to you all.

  • @matreyia Thanks!!! Actually there's only one person not in the video that was on our team. We kept the crew/cast small so that we could streamline everything. No battles or communication issues on what to do. Less people meant more focus for us. We had such a blast!!!

  • Great job

  • great editing....great everything

  • What camcorder did you use?

  • @TheIndyfilmer Not a camcorder. dslr camera, the 7D. They are awesome.

  • @djderyck Back when you responded, I did research on it and ended up buying the canon 600D. Just wanted to drop back in and say thanks. xD

  • Great crew-job!

  • great job! I recently participated in the 48 hour film festival of 2011, we just finished our film today haha, I've been watching a lot of films lately and this is one of the few ones that I can say are actually good! you guys did an amazing job! the acting was not the best, the girl was okay but not the guy. the cinematography and editing was amazing! but like i read in a comment it looked more like a scene from a movie than a short film, but still AMAZING JOB!

  • @VDFilmsChannel Thanks!!! The actors are my friends who aren't really actors at all of course. They were just really interested in the doing the competition and actually asked me to do it. We did it fully for fun and were pleased to have won awards as well. Such a great experience. Hope you guys had fun and good luck!!!!

  • what type of camera and editing software did you use for this video?

  • @MattPintar I used the canon 7d on this project and I used Final Cut Pro for editing.

  • plz reply

  • what type of videocamera did you use for this video and editing software? if you dont mind me asking

  • What type of camera did you use for this video?

  • What type of camera did you use for this video?

  • that guys a horrorible actor!!!!

  • sucks

  • Acting so bad that it was painful to watch.

  • @Kiwirnango Yeah, it made me cringe.

  • What music did you use? Mainly the track around 4:10 please and thank you!

    Awesome work, loved the cinematography.

  • @samiraxkhan All the music in the film was done by my friend Tony Anderson. He titled that track "By His Wounds." You can listen to some of his stuff at the website soundcloud, search 23violins, that's his username. I don't think he has that track up there though. Thanks!

  • @djderyck Oh alright, awesome! Just another quick question, I'm not sure if you mentioned it... but what dimensions would you reccoment using, since I'm now making a movie with a T3i. Thanks!

  • @samiraxkhan The T3i shoots in 1920x1080 HD at 30p and 24p. Also 1280x720 at 60p for slowmo shooting. So you'll want to use those settings. If you're meaning the aspect ratio that's totally up to you. This short film is in 2.35:1 aspect ratio. I cropped it in post. I like that ratio. Feel out your project and decide what is best creatively for it.

  • But did you hear about Blue Zoltan getting fired?

  • hey how do u capture the sound?? what mic did u use?

  • @britney5996 I used the Sound devices 702T with the Sennheiser 416 mic. Try using puraleyes in post to sync video and audio tracks but ended up doing it manually.

  • The movie was okay, the acting was bad, to say the least, i liked your work on soundtrack, and the lighting, but yeah, actors make a film, and they weren't up to par.

  • @djderyck

Thanks for your help! I will try to follow your tips and congratulations for your great movie!

  • what camera did you use? ABSOLUTELY GREAT MOVIE!

  • @Maxcielle I used the Canon 7D, L series and prime lenses, and MBL for grading. Thanks for the comment!!! :)

  • @djderyck

I have the same camera! :)

I will try to participate this year in the 48h FP here in Lisbon, in March.

I have seen lots of movies and yours is by far my favorite. Any tips for me?

  • @Maxcielle Thanks a lot, I appreciate very much. A tip for the 7D is mess around with the picture styles. Either download Marvelcine, superflat, or create your own. This is what I do. I like to shoot flat to get as much total dynamic range of the image. Creating flat picture styles can do that. But then you must grade in post or else your image won't look great. I also try to minimize quick pans using the 7D because of the rolling shutter problem. Good luck on the upcoming shoot! :)

  • Amazing movie. I just think the acting was bad, and it seemed more like a scene out of a feature film than a short film.

  • Nice film buddy check out the upcoming 48 GO GREEN....

  • That was super badass.

  • it was shot well but the acting was really bad, plot was alright not great

  • How the hell did you do that in 48 hours?! Simply amazing!

  • @BlueBoxCinema Haha, I didn't sleep, haha. Thanks for watching. Man I watched your film. Great stuff. You'd never done film before? That's an amazing first film bud, Keep it up. :)

  • tell me everything that u used pls @@>_<

  • @doommic Canon 7D. 10-22mm, 16-35mm, 50mm, 70-200mmIS. Sennhieser 416. Sounddevices 702T. Final Cut Pro. :)

  • @djderyck any steadicam? merlin?

  • @doommic: all tripod and handheld.

  • @djderyck oh god , you guys are awesome , deserved the winner ;) never even use shoulder rig ? i asked so much becoz i had joined this 48 hours project in my country too ;) but i din won haha

  • @doommic I use the camera strap and pull it against my head to help make the shot more stable. And then in post I try to do things to make the shots a little smoother. Thanks for your kind words. We had a blast. I hope you did as well. :)

  • @djderyck i see , thx for reply man , do you have facebook?

  • @doommic Yeah bud. Derek Hammeke.

  • Hey Derreck your film looks awesome man. We just competed in the Johannesburg leg and I've been trawling the internet for what the competition is like and so far yours is by far one of the best. You can see ours at VALENTOWN 48 PROJECT.

    Good luck in Miami. Josh

  • @joshrous Hello!!! I was in J-Burg all summer working on a documentary surrounding the World Cup. Thanks so much for your comments. Man, I've looked at a lot of others on Youtube as well and yours is the best I've seen. Thanks so much for sharing it. Great shots, dollies, acting, funny stuff. I loved hearing the accents again ;)

We just did the National competition as well. Search National Film Challenge Blogger, that's our new one. Hope can make it out to Miami.

  • I didnn't think much of it. the conversations were very dull, and the policeman looked nothing like a poilice officer. just my thoughts, it was still good for a short

  • Great Film!

  • Awesome...Yesterday i finished my film in 48hours in Mongolia. And first of all music was my biggest problem i really liked your music. You guys did a AWESOME JOB for real....AWESOME...i don`t know can i make a movie like this in 48 days. Good Luck from Mongolia.

  • @bekbilguun Hey thanks bekbilguun! We had a lot of fun. I was lucky enough to have a great composer for the project, who also had a lot of portfolio stuff to choose from to put in the film. Then I'd just edit to the music. Try istock audio though. They have some good stuff and a variety of genres. That'd be where I'll go if I come up short on my other options. :)

  • Great job gents! Had a great time competing with you. Spectacular job on almost every aspect of your film. @awolsys To Cinematic Visions—I don't think the results were as perplexing as you would contend. For a team that has done so well in the past, I would expect a little more maturity.

  • Hey guys great job! We competed in New Orleans, So I was checking out some work from other cities, so far this def was the best.

  • @NewDayPictures1 Thanks so much for the kind words. It was a blast to work on.

  • Hey guys just wanted to congratulate you again. We over at Cinematic Visions had a great time and were very happy with our entry, and even though there were some...perplexing outcomes with awards, this year I know that I really felt that you folks had an outstanding film. Taking home best graphics was nice although best costume or FX would have been great (my wife did most of the zombie makeup) but as far as your awards I really expected "Cold Remains" to clean house. Good Luck in Florida!

  • @awolsys Hey guys. Thanks again for your comments. And thanks specifically with what you guys said to us at the awards show. I'll take those compliments to the grave. They mean a lot.

I loved your make-up throughout your entire film. The close up of the arm at the end and the last shot were so good.

  • You're awesome dude. I hope to see more work from you. Thanks again for the info.

  • @Javasteen80 @Javasteen80 Using the Sennheiser MKH 416 mic. Also using Sound Devices Recorder. Not a lot of post work. I would have normally used a program called Pluraleyes to sync the audio, but didn't have it at that venue. So I had to manually link the audio to the video clips since no timecode. I didn't have my audio guy with me on the shoot. If I did it would have sounded even better. So I had to just do a mix in Final Cut with out any filters.

  • I love everything about your movie, except your leading actor, sorry but he just does not fit this role, but hey its 48 hours project and what you've done here is a 10.

  • @Javasteen80 Actually considering it was a 48 I'm pretty sure the role was written with him in mind...so I would think him 'not fitting the role' couldn't be a legit complaint. :-)

  • @SquareRootof0 You are correct on that mate. Sure, the role was written specifically for him but the guy just not good period.

  • did u guys shot this with canon 5D or Red? This looks gorgeous!

  • @Javasteen80 Canon 7D with some L series lenses.

  • Best one of the KC 48. Good job guys.

  • Awesome job guys

  • terrble acting.

  • That was great! Derek's cinematography kept the action personal and at times incredibly claustrophobic, which was perfect for this suspense thriller! Colby was awesome, and its great to see our website designer (Jason Courtney) being a total badass!

  • Awesome!

  • Super cool. Colby in particular did a great job.
