You get this error because you did not include the whole nif file structure. If you copy the whole nif file structure it looks fine in nifskope, however in game its invisible. I have yet to see how to fix this.
@lordsoulstrike - after i posted i tried to copy the whole nif, but as you said, it is invisible in-game for some reason. Possibly missing references to the main file structure (0NiNode)
You can copy another mesh into another mesh and then on the ninode you pasted you can right click and under block you can flatten the mesh (no idea what that does) and all the other mesh parts are not under their parent ninode, however in game it crashes so I don't know if that will help at all ect.......
@lordsoulstrike - I managed to add transparencies by adding a reference to the NIAlphaProperty in the branch i wanted to add transparency to.
Just go to the branch property, at the bottom option double click the green arrows symbol. It will list references. In the blank one double click it and type the number of the NIAlphaProperty.
Glad you were able to figure it out. Until nifskope tutorials are better laid out/whatever I really don't mess around with adding anything to a mesh. Modifying or deleting parts of a mesh work the same as usual without problems.
Under the data folder in the BSA files. You will need to find an exporter. As for playing around with a mesh nifskope is very much alpha stage for Skyrim meshes. Blender could work however its beyond the scope of this tutorial and my general knowledge.
It all depends on what you do to the mesh in Nifskope. If you just do a copy and paste and it is in the correct area that you want it then it should be all set, if you mess with it any other way it might not work. Also make sure you get the whole branch of the part of the mesh you want and paste it under the master node or things might happen.
Please make sure that a texture is assigned to it or that might lead to weird problems like you are having.
If you mean like fallout 3 and new vegas were then no. Quite a few functions were changed/whatever and the nifskope team is currently working on making the program compatible. Some people have been able to use nifskope to do many things, however they don't really show up ingame as of yet as the skyrim version is very buggy/alpha stage.
It's being worked on currently. I've used their updated nif xml file and have been able to edit some of the meshes, however most parts of the armors are one single piece so that might not work as well.
Hey there, I'm editing an armor for Fallout New Vegas and here's teh thing: I have this field jacket with several belts ans straps and a pouch on it. I click the pouch, but it highlights the whole thing, not just the pouch but the straps and belts too. I'd like to keep the belt but remove the pouch, now is there a way to do that?
Unfortunately the mesh is one object. To separate what you want you would have to edit it in Blender, however that is past the scope of this tutorial and I have no idea how to use Blender. I've tried but do not understand the tutorials on how to do anything.
I might suggest looking for another mesh with bags and use that. Hope that helped.
@lordsoulstrike I tried to do some editing in Blender but failed epicly, because it wouldn't open up the meshes, so I just deleted the thing. It's not a problem though, I just noticed that it looks even better without all the straps on. But thanks anyway :D
Hello. I am making a mod for Oblivion, I need to make Jyggalag into a statue. I know how to make him a statue and everything but it has the stupid default T-body shape. Modifying meshes isn't really my thing. Could you tell me how to pose Jyggalag into a good statue pose?
Everytime I try to paste the branch it tells me it failed to map it to the parent node, i'm trying to do a mashup of some armor mods but i'm not sure if I should edit one of the armor mods or just start a new mesh and paste pieces I want to that..
@christo2387 If you are the problem is that the rigging/node or whatever is not part of that mesh you car currently working on. One of the better armor meshes I believe without copying and pasting nodes is using the Arena armor and just deleting everything accept the nodes for that, unless you are not making a full body armor.
The tutorial that is up is for Nifskope. It does not deal with Blender in the slightest. You might want to look around for more tutorials on how to set it up. I myself did have it setup a few times on my comp without any problem. You might be missing something. I am sorry I cannot help you with this as I myself am not good with blender.
This tutorial only deals with how to make offhand weapons of your favorite sword. No more no less.
@TheHuntOfDawn You need a BSA extractor program and nifskope. If you google Oblivion bsa extractor you should come up with a few links, or look at tesnexus.com as they practically have everything you need to mod Oblivion
If you use the same file name/type for the texture you will not have to do anything to the mesh as long as you replace the file it is using already. If you mean to change the actual shape of it, I.E. change a sword to a shield, then that won't work.
A basic texture edit can be done in almost any program as long as you can somehow convert it to the DDS format.
........... the real problem was where i was saving the file,... i should of known since this also happened to cam studio so i had to save the videos in my desktop.
You can save it where ever you want. I just save to desktop most of the time since it is one of the easiest places to find stuff, at least in my opinion.
Your welcome. If you have questions about Cam Studio please let me know. I may not be an expert, but if you do have any troubles with it or shrinking the file size down please let me know.
CamStudio. It's free and works decently. There are many different video formats you can use, so you need to see what works for you. Remember that uncompressed video is VERY large so you will need another program to shrink that down.
I did it, my problem was that i failed to account that i had windows 7, so the location of the texture file was different i just had to plug in the right location and it worked
Good to hear, however you really should not have to specify the full file path for the texture. You just need to specify that it is in the textures folder.
If you specify the whole path, there can be problems if you decide to make your own mod as not everyone has the same file path and or same OS as you.
Sorry for the late response. I really do not know what to say. If you would like me to look at the mesh I could see what I could do. I do not use blender what so ever btw.
Just gimme a link or give me a PM on the official ES forums under the same name.
i followed this and i saved it but its not any to be found but when i go to nifskope the file is there when im loading something but it has a little lock at the bottom left
Sometimes it will not visible in game if you do any type of mesh editing. For instance if you stretch the armor mesh in any way it may not be visible. If you need any further help let me know and I'll try to help.
@pupninja What armors were you editing and what version of Nifskope are you using? If I know more maybe I can see what has happened. Sometimes Nifskope can act weird and either you need to reinstall it or get a newer version.
Also, trying to copy a piece from one armor and pasting it in another gives an error. "failed to map parent link"......

They are in the bsa files. You would need a bsa extractor to get at them. Editing said meshes are harder this time around.
