Well, my thought is that we as humans evolved from single cell organisms so whos to say that other species didn't evolve from their own single cell organisms. once evolution takes place the organisms keep evolving to best adapt to their surroundings and we get birds, dogs, cats, reptiles, etc. and it all takes millions of years to get to the stage we know today. not everything had to evolve from the exact same cell.

Some of the ancients prayed to the Sun and star formation. That was the very beginnings of the Abrahamic religions.

nothing can be proved basic law of science... it's only after we have no way to disprove it that we accept it as truth: many examples but this is only a comment. besides evolution has yet to come up with trans-species (1 species becoming another), there are still ways to disprove evolution: find some species or organ or something natural that cannot be simplified the eye is a good one to quote but its a comment. I'm not saying that creationism is any better, but still belief in evolution is still dogmatic as we only have evidence of spiecies changing within there own kind and yet to have proof that the wide diversity of life that we have can be traced back if you read into how cells evolved honestly that theory is as credable as ID. I agree that science is the best we have but there are still many holes to be plugged before ID becomes as crazy as we athiests make out.

Well, my thought is that we as humans evolved from single cell organisms so whos to say that other species didn't evolve from their own single cell organisms. once evolution takes place the organisms keep evolving to best adapt to their surroundings and we get birds, dogs, cats, reptiles, etc. and it all takes millions of years to get to the stage we know today. not everything had to evolve from the exact same cell.

Yes, look up the theory. I agree that your last sentence makes no sense because evolution along that line is a result of natural selection and impossible by eating fish alone. It's like in the nature - you surely heard that the communist regime in china once decided to kill all the sparrows so that they could get more harvest. Lizi99, your argument is flawed. As youmeandsomknives explains, the energy in your body isn't destroyed when you die. Energy doesn't "pick up on DNA". You obviously aren't too sure what "energy" actually is.

When you die, the little electrons stop whizzing through your brain, and the chemicals stop doing things in your body. That's it. Your personality disappears. It isn't that amazing - it's just the configuration of your brain. And once the brain loses oxygen for a bit, it's lost, just like when you delete files from your computer. Simple.
And atheism is NOT a religion. Do I have to explain why, or were you just trying to exaggerate to prove a false point?

Nobody has the ultimate answers. Not yet anyway. So why choose a side ahead of time? It's a pointless ideal to only satisfy your needs to compartmentalize things. People do it with music all the time, and artists don't fucking like it because it's labeling. I am neither atheist nor theist nor apathetic.

Interesting. Saw the whole thing through :) What's scary about Solanas is that her ideology lives on. The feminist movement uses her as an icon. They don't want to kill men litteraly but the male gender. Men are the cause of all problems according to feminists. Sure Solanas had humor but she did shoot Andy Warhol, which proves she meant business.

Most wouldn't disagree that if Hitler followed the 10 commandments, millions of people would not have been slaughtered. So I don't think you can argue that holy wars are the largest cause of mass killings in the world. Non belief plays "if not more of" a role. It just so happens the most scientifically advanced and technology based country also happened to be Germany at the time. The self worshiping Nazis killed more than anyone. Does it really matter who you worship, weather a God or yourself?

What I think is that the big deal people make of Atheism is Christians can not be satisfied until they convert 100% of mankind to their religion. I will always be atheist wether I want to or not. You can like to yourself and others but deep inside you will always believe what you believe. I can't possibly believe in a magical being in the sky not today or any other day.
