  • can you use regular paint?

  • @UnintentionalAwesome to be more specific i mean normal games workshop citadel paint

  • complete fucking shit, blocked in 1 second, stop spraying paint, its crap and to anyone reading this wonderin whether you should get one or not, dont waste your fucking money.

  • @BeTheBe5t A: did you thin it. B: did you hold it and never let it go? some times less love is better

  • @BeTheBe5t

I haven't had the problems mentioned here with mine. I've only used it once so far and it a reasonably good job of painting my predator. I found short bursts gave an even cover and prevented the can from icing up too quickly. I don't think it possible to paint a tank in one go though as it's best to let the paint dry before doing a second coat rather than trying to cover everything at once which can lead to too much paint being applied in some areas and then it runs a bit.

  • So is this only meant for base coating? I have base coated my army with the citadel chaos black spray can, could I then use this with my army's main color or would it not come out right?

  • @seanofwar Thats what i want to know, exact same situation as you, but i don't want to spend hundreds on a compressor and gun

  • @masofnos is the chaos black the undercoat or the actual base coat? as i've use the chaos black spray can for the undercoat and am thinking of getting the spray gun to apply the base coat, as it looks quicker and easier, but from what ive read you can use it to apply washes, but suppose you can try and do what you like with it :)

  • @seanofwar you can undercoat with it of you like using acrylic paints and sprays. You should always undercoat your models first. As most paints are slightly transparent the colour you undercoat with will affect your basecoat. Black will make the colours darker but bright colours will struggle to cover well. White will brighten your bright colour but you may need a couple of coats for your darker ones. A lot of people undercoat grey which covers well but for some reason GW don't make a grey spray

  • Looks like shit, would rather splash out for a real airbrush.....

  • @wario22 it is mate, i have one and it broke after spraying 1 rhino and 1 land raider. The plastic thread on the connector between the propellant and the tube went so I cant get air from the can to the gun. Not happy at all.

  • @zombieruss

A month on but have you tried bathroom seal and /or masking tape to try and fix it?

  • @Catubrannos I will give that a go, good idea!

  • I did all of this and no paint is coming out, after carefully examining the gun i found that it wouldn't go out of the needing in the hosing, even after unblocking it i still haven't had any luck, and i have tried watering my paint down.

    anyone got any suggestions?

  • @LRW96LIVE spray with nothing in the pot and if air is coming out then look to the nozzle or the feed from the pot. try screwing the nozzle down a bit.

  • can you use mettalic paint like boltgun metal etc.?

  • are these only good for doing a base coat or can they be used for doing more detailed areas of a model?? can you adjust the area it will be spraying??

  • @jonhore1988 it works wonders after the base coat if your say painting a something you can change the amount it sprays so it wont go in deep parts

  • Works perfectly! :D

  • such a waste to pour entire cans of paint....

  • Well for about the same price you can get the master series g23 which is one of the best starter brushs imo. Then you just need to get an aircompressor(could still use cans, but compressor saves you money in the long run), lucky for me i already had an aircompressor at my house

  • does the propellant come with the gun

  • Decrease prices, you fat shits.

  • @EmperorOfTrolls Wow, you really are the Emperor of Trolls...

  • or is an airbrush better

  • does this spray gun is good to use on models and making grey knights force weapons ????

  • @RymithicalDom Sure, why not?

  • and on top of that the seal on the pot is practically none existent if you shake it up paint flies everywhere, not from the spout but from the area where the spout connects to the pot. All in all id give this a 0/10 i feel that my money has been wasted on this thing.

  • I honestly wouldn't recommend this to anyone, it has almost just ruined a kit that i used it on. It sprays really inconsistently and you have to constantly and i mean constantly change the pressure on the can and gun to make it spray right. Not only that but the paint to water ratio that it recommends does not work, with that ratio it ends up just spraying bubbles of paint. On top of that the connection for the paint pot is incredibly loose and feels like it could fall off at any time.

  • do you know if this can take normal paint such as "blood red" or just the foundation paints??

  • So this is basically a really cheap equivalent to an air brush then Defiantly a must have for someone like me who is on a limited budget

  • I basecoated 4k points of Chaos this weekend in about 15 minutes, and my brother started his blood angels.

As to the cap, mine worked fine, but I hooked up mine to a small compressor and did most of it with that. I figured I'd save the propellant for when I'm on the go.

If you keep ruining that cap you can buy cheap replacements at craft stores that sell airbrushes (ie Michael's) that have all metal threading. That way they don't strip after a couple cans of propellant.

  • im having alot of trouble ataching the propellant cap to the hose, does enyone else struggle with this....im on my second gun now because i damaged the cap

  • OK for one off jobs but who's DUMP idea was it to design the bottle the way they did. Doesn't hold on and constantly drops off meaning you have no control over doing fine detail with this junk.

  • in my paint jar cap is a little hole .is this normal?

  • @xerxes278 yes it is so the air can get into the jar as the paint leaves

  • @JBmowen thx i got it now:)

  • @pprriimmoopro

you can buy it at games workshop for about 20 pounds

  • where to buy?

  • I'm on my 4th one of these... and guess what? Its still a piece of shit. You're better off with a straw and blowing paint on tbh. You have to dilute the paint so much to get it to come out the end that it just runs off the model. Random things happen everytime you press the trigger.... sometimes you may get some paint, sometimes just huge blobs spatter your model or sometimes you just get nothing at all. I asked the staff at my local store if they personally use them, their response: No.

  • is this worth buying, or am i better off buying a different air brush?

  • @dantespice you know that you shouldnt ask games workshop about this, because they will of course say, that you should buy Their airbrush. its marketing :D

  • @dantespice you know GW will say, you should buy Their airbrush? marketing? and yes, its totaly worth it. you pay much more money at one time to buy another airbrush, but this thing here just eats money over a bigger time period, but thats totally worth it, because youre still paying more money to run other airbrushes

  • has anybody tried this will golden yellow? or any of the basic yellow paints by citadel. yellow is always a sod to paint and i was thinking a more even coat using a gun may work better than brush (with a iyanden darksun base) if anyone has had luck trying this id very much appreciate your advice as normally i try to build up layers of watered down golden yellow which for me still comes out streaky and uneven at times.

  • you piss me off

  • Airbrushes might be expensive, but they are build to last. This is not built to last. Aircompressors may die after a year or two, but how much you would be spending on compressed air cans over time make up for its high cost at purchase. So please save yourself some grief and spend some extra money on something that's better and will last.

  • perfect!!

  • can you use citadel metalic paints in the spray gun?

  • @VezoKtheAnnihilatoR ive had no problem using metalics at all, works fine.

  • does it have to be a foundation paint because for my blood angels I would just immdiately spray on blookd red.

  • @GustBrick

You can use regular blood red in the spray gun. Just a good rule of thumb is that the paint shuld be about the consistency of milk. And never start spraying directly onto the model, start the paint/air flowing off the model then move onto it. That way you don't get any spatter.

  • @erzengelauskreig thanks

  • mine for some reason never worked

  • @GamesWorkshopStudio how many models can I coat with the spray gun with one pot of citadel wash ( I mean like basic core units for a warhammer army)

  • too much watter was wasted

  • can it be attached to a normal compressor as well? kinda sucks to have to buy bottle to bottle of "propellant"

  • I think the word your looking for is "Air Brush" as a spray gun push's the paint out as apposed to syphoning it like this "External mix Air Brush" , check out Badger their amazing (And the glass jar has never fallen of any of mine :-)

This ones external mix , does any one have any oppinions re internal v external mix air brushes for undercoating ?

  • Nice I'm gonna get one for Christmas now thanks :) by the way can u use normal citadel paints or does it have to be foundation paints? Thanks

  • @TheSaul100 Dude, save yourself some cash overall by buying an airbrush and a compressor. After a while, those cans of propellant will add up and you would have spent the same as you would have for a compressor. It's not worth it.

  • sick video

  • ay where can i get one of those nifty things

  • @juggalo450 Any Games Workshop store, or from their website.

  • whats foundation paint for? does it have to be the same colour as the paint coming from the can? plzz help chhherrrs :D

  • @xxdominatorzz The can contains propellant not paint.

  • trigger goes from red to black

  • Hey, Can I use other paints with it? Or do I just have to use foundation paints?

  • Thanks Mate :D (Y)

  • thanks alot :)

  • It says to refer to the manual for correct operating procedure but I bought one today and there is no manual.

I followed this tutorial and I don't seem to be getting any action from the cna of propellent.

  • @SevenExxes

The manual is in the folded paper in the middle of the packaging that seperated the gun from the jar, hose and valve. It's actually frames from this video with the same vague instructions.

  • Do you HAVE to use Foundation paints?

  • I have a Revell spray gun, similar to this, gun is just a different shape. I need to know, when you attach the compressed gas to the lid, then turn the thing to release the gas....it sounds like mine is leaking from the gap, can hear a slight hissing and can smell the gas...is this how it is meant to function or is it meant to be silent untill you trigger the gun??

    Thanks in advance!

  • @n1tr089

Lucky you. I bought one today and the hose popped off of the part that screws onto the gun as soon as I released the gas, then the glass jar fell out of the bottom and smashed on the floor.

This really needs something to secure the jar in place, or a stronger jar or something, If I get another one of these I'm making something to hold it on, maybe an elastic band or something. Or padding it with foam before use.

  • wow this is very help full thank you

  • thanks a lot man this is very helpful

  • Did anyone notice that the spray gun looks like a heavy flamer???

  • Its made to look like that, they're practically advertising it in the product description :P

  • @enemytry Yeah i think thats the whole point lol

  • how long can you spray with the propellant attached?

  • is the propellant flammable

  • Yes it is.

  • can you use tamiya acrylics in this? and can you use thinner rather than water?

  • Can you run these of a very small compressor rather than the can?

  • i bet it would break

  • I'm thinking you can use a pressure regulator on the compressor to produce exactly the same pressure in the can.

  • hope so. but i think the gw spraygun isnt the best option for sprayguns

  • Thanks for the tip! I'll do a bit of research. For the sake of a few bucks you may as well get a good one hay, cheers.

  • I bought one from bunnings 4 5 bucks and it does the same thing

  • Much better than Revell with thair damn paint hard to clean

    thank you GW

  • does it have 2 be foundations paint ?

  • lol furry arms

  • the big difference between spray paint and this is that you can use this on styrofoam and foam core since it is using the standard water based acrylic paints and not the oil based ones found in normal spray paints. Spray paint is fine as a base for plastic or pewter models, but for anyone who builds models or scenery out of foam, a sprayer like this is a must have item since normal spray paint will disolve and destroy foam.

  • yar arms R so furrryy

  • Its like he is preparing a bazooka or something with the music.. :P

  • is the foundation paint acrylic?

  • Yes. If you've only just started I highly recommend getting the whole foundation set especially if you're looking to replicate what you see in the pictures.

Make sure you water down your paint, I like a ratio of 2:1 paint to water and clean your paint brush very very regularly. Add more water for that smooth look you see in the pictures, but, it'll require more coats to get the colour to look solid.

If the paint on the model looks textured then you're probably not watering down enough.

  • lol at V theres a policeman doing something :D

  • dose this work with normal gwpaint?

    like scorched earth ect

  • Although i'd actually recommend you use the vallejo Game color equivalents. They work well for airbrushing just thinned with water, they'll cover better and because they don't set as hard as the GW's you'll have a much easier time cleaning your spray gun.

  • I haven't used this exact spray gun, but you should be able to use normal GW paints, however you'll need to thin them with a bit of car screen wash overwise they'll glog the nozzle. (you can obviously also buy airbrush medium)

  • wouldnt water work?

  • would GW paints work in the spray gun?

  • it kinda looks like a flamer :P

  • It's designed to look like a flamer

  • I gottta buy me 1 of those.

Quick question for any1 out there that has gotten one. I do alot of terrain (yea, its my crystal meth)

And I hate to base my terrain pieces by hand, does the propellant melt the plastic?

  • I mean the foam ofc.

  • Please don't take my word for this cos I haven't sprayed terrain with it, but I'm pretty sure the propellant is just compressed air - no solvents - meaning no melted terrain. Best to get a second opinion though!

  • It would probably do that yes:/

  • I don't think that it does, but it can vary depending on what kind of material you are spraying on.

  • Styrofoam or what it's called in english, a sort of plastic foam used often for isolation in houses and such.

  • not sure about the GW propellant, but most sprayers that I have seen like this use a compressed air system. if the GW stuff is just compressed air, then it will be perfectly safe for your foam projects.

  • To be honest i'd rather spray my models black then paint them by hand...

  • okay im wondering why you have to use foundation paints

  • for it to have a longer lasting stick to the models, most just prime it black or white

  • excellent only bad thing is the cost fo the new paints. now £2.50 and i can get somthign that does the exact same job as the spray gun only its not labelled with GW for half the price . from lots of model shops , train , plane model shops etc,

  • Pretty Epic music for a spray gun

  • lol

  • Wow the fucking bit on the paint jar broke off the 1st time trying to put it in. Cheaply made, but works well

  • why does it not go into the recessives at 1:50

  • I got one. its pretty sweet. im supposed to be able to attach it to a compressor too :O. but it was gray not black :(

  • What if i don't use a foundation paint?

  • thats great its in the shape of a flamer :D

  • effortlessly amazin effect, gotta get me one.. = )

  • Is this useful for basecoating and such for tomb kings or other Warhammer Fantasy figures and\pr terrain etc... ?

  • does this melt foam like spray paint does?

  • No, this uses acrylic paint with no solvent dispersant, water is the dispersant. So it won't get you high or melt foam.

  • ... spray paint gets you high?.... that's why I thought I saw a deer barking ontop of my house!

  • of course it does, you've never heard of sniffing fumes?

  • That explains the effects of seeing santain my chimney after 6 hours of constant glueing of a Leman Russ, 10 men and a Chimera while stopping, i told him to get me a Baneblade for christmas he told me to stop sniffing glue.

  • useless thing, its better to buy can spray with colour what you need for 3$,

  • But can you adjust the size of the flow of paint? So that you could paint on thin lines and such.

  • says so in 2:12 - 2:22 though that mainly seems to be how much its spraying

  • yeah, but I'm talking more about the size of the paint. Because that sprayer puts out a big circle. I was hoping I could make small lines, you know.

  • yeah i know :P

  • This looks incredibly useful for painting tanks. You could cover parts with putty and create a camo effect

  • dont do it

    it breaks

  • I like how the paint gun looks live a heavy flamer...

  • Wow, this will save me alot of basecoating time :)

  • And saves time with washes

  • can u use regular paint from gw or just only cradle paints

  • how much do these cost and do people use it for some of the glued models?

  • it will not lok the same as the one in the video. the reason this is because the first couple spray guns did not work. i broguht the new one and it works fine!

  • If it all works well, this could save a lot of time.

  • Looks worthwhile, I'll have to swing by Swindon and pick one up :)

  • esto es pa frikis

    this is for freaks

    usar est0 pa hacer0s una pieza¡¡

uSse this f0r maKe a grafF

  • The Spray gun is reminding me of a flamer that space marines carry in to battle. Nice video

  • Funny that. As that is what it is supposed to look like.

  • Look at the pretty pink girlnails!

  • this thing is so handy for speed painting, i paint and sell models on and this little baby now means i can do so with tanks and i dont have to charge the earth, top product :)

  • i like how they made it like a flamer

  • damn this is a useful video! Just got my spray gun today and I'll soon be using it to paint all my space marines calthan brown!

And how obvious is it that I'm a huge 40K fan? (my username! Look at my username! :D)

  • hi, have a problem with it: the colour doesn't cling on my tanks... i even used the same colour as in the example; Tausept Ochre for a Tau Tank :)

can anyone pls tell me what i did wrong

  • Have you primed your tank black or white...It doesn't matter which really with foundation paints but you should really spray your modles as it gives the paint something to grip to. Hope that helps.

  • thx for the tip; will try!

  • Got mine pre-ordered!

  • This is the best for foamboards since it wont make it melt because u only use air and regular citadel paint.

  • Spray Gun ´s coming home, It´s coming home,

    It´s coming home, it´s coming... =)

  • do they still sell the spray gun or is it still taken off the market

  • aWESOME

  • what a scam what astupid scam!

  • Not really...for those uwho just want to use it for base coating its great. I use an air brush alread and it works great. I want this item

  • Thanks, this helped me alot.

  • Its an awful truth that well when you buy some games workshop products its like flip a coin sometimes you can win but sometimes your model is crapy and you dont even touched it already. also forge world models come.. ehm well doesnt come right most of the times and they stay out of trouble saying "its for experienced modellers" so yes i think games workshop need to have more quality in their products. I love them the models are great but they will be greater if all of the pieces fit perfectly

  • your right, my brother bought a terminator chaplin off the web site and he came with two right arms, luckly he had a spare left handed storm bolter arm. but yeah your right

  • pretty cool.

  • all the spray guns have been recalled due to poor quality of the tube

  • Well i figure its a product that'd be good , like you say, to give people a taste or a practise run, to see if they like the idea of airbrushing things. If they like it, and get the hang of it, they can go off and purchase a much more technical kit like one of the Iwata ones or something. For basecoating tanks however, i can see it being a good product.

  • Not intended on making it sound like an attack mate. Just disagreeing is all :)

But hopefully when they re-release the Spraygun, it might be improved slightly.

  • People and model companies have been using/making airbrushes for YEARS, its not just a recent craze. MAYBE among 40k/GW game players it might be a craze however.

I dont see a problem with them making an airbrush or something similar. GW could solve world hunger, and people would still moan about them and their products... Because theyre a big company.

  • Could be worse, they could of left it on the market to hurt someone. But of course, withdrawing a potentially harmful or faulty product is just silly..

  • this product fails hard. Nice idea with the flame thrower bit, but horrid application.

  • Saved this Vid....we will not see this thing for a loooonnnnggggg time ^^
