  • Still dont get it? Rooting simply gives you full control of your phone. Otherwise, you have admin privilege over it and not as a guest. With that privilege, you can overclock your phone and do full software customization on it

  • SPIDER MAN!!!!!

  • NOW ROOTING IS MORE SAFE THAN MASSAGING!

  • DONT DO IT UNLESS IT WONT TURN ON THEY WONT KNOW IT IS ROOTED!!

  • my android freezed so i put it in the oven, then the screen turned off so i took it out with tongs and put it in the frying pan. Ohh and 1 more thing, the day this happened the power was out.

  • where is the link

  • @bashar876 top right hand corner of the video..

  • When you are making a presentation you couple your thoughts in a way that it would relate to the novice, middle who has some idea of what you are going to say and the professional who knows what you are saying. You didn't do that and I lost all interest on the subject. Stop going back and forth with examples. If you can do this, it would be fine.

  • so if i will root my Galaxy mini i will get free apps or what? please reply :)

  • what do you mean by overclock? :D

  • @janeck123 all you need to know is that it makes you phone lots faster

  • @janeck123 Basically, it makes your CPU run faster than what it comes standard as.

Generally, it's safe to go a little over normal, but if there's too much heat you can fry your chip / phone.

Though if you don't know what it is, then chances are you don't need to do it :P

  • Have rooting my cell phone and will let you guys know next spring if I get more apples.

  • I cant believe the kickstand became uncool wherever you are from... we do a lot of stupid things when we are young.

  • @JongaLife There's a good reason for it, atleast on my bike.

I used to jump it and the kickstand dropped when I landed and I ate shit :(

  • Alot of people have no business rooting. based on what i've read here lol. But like it was said before- If you're not somewhat technically inclined.Or dont even know what rooting is, Don't do it.

  • I am new to android. I just wanna root my Galaxy Ace without any complications, but I still cant really figure out what root does except giving me permission to do some stuff.

Will it help the performance? Cuz my phone is already getting pretty slow and its frustrating.

Also, if I have to upgrade to Gingerbread, will I have to unroot it?

    Please help.

  • Brick fix. Restore very simple and safe

  • So let say u got water damage and u had it rooted and u had an insurance plan on ur phone. Can u get it replaced because u had the insurance on it or does rooting it void the insurance plan too?

  • best analogies ever.

  • hehehe "im going to show how to root your device" lmao!!

  • Is rooting legal?

  • @MultiTiger5000 The government has deemed is LEGAL indeed. so yeah, you will not get arrested for rooting your phone (not that they would care if it were illegal...). Although, you void your warranty with your carrier when you root the phone, but just unroot your phone as he says if you are to ever confront your carrier with questions, problems or a request for a replacement.

  • Comment removed

  • U said that they can see if you phone has a rom.. Is it possible to get back to the default rom and unroot it so that they can't udnerstand we ever used a rom at all.. Or can they see somehow if it had a custom rom before ?

  • @SarpSerter yes there is a way to unroot back to stock, the method that would be used depends on what model phone you have

  • Is it possible to root a samsung galaxy appolo (i5800) could u plz send me a link of a tut on rooting a i5800 thanks

  • Great explanation with the kickstand, I got a Huawei Ascend from Metro PCS and their bloatware was the most annoying thing ever, especially the BOINGO , every single time I got near the hot spot it would ring like I had a text message..

  • What's rooting and what's the point of it?

  • @eth1128 if you dont know what it is.. DONT DO IT

  • can you overclock your phone without rooting my android device

  • can overclocking it be harmful thought .. cause you are forcing it to go faster than it does.. i mean like can you burn out things or something?

  • My droid eris has 2.3 gingerbread!!!!!!!!!!!

  • it does not matter what anyone of you say, rooting or jailbreaking cannot permenantly brick your device. rooting and jailbreaking is a software change, not a hardware thing. NOOBS

  • hey david i love ur videos i have alway wanted to e on tehkseven i may be only be 14 but im reallky know my facts on verizon and sprint phones

  • to clarify what i said earlier it IS IMPOSSIBLE to brick your, looking back on the comment made me realize that i made it sound as if it was possible to root and ipod touch in previous firmwares, for this i am sorry, you canno't root iOS devices period. you CAN jailbreak them however...now for the bricking of motorola's phones with efuse, this is possible, yes the dev's have found a way past it but if you don't know what your doing then you can send your phone into a bootloop

  • @AfroPenKid instead of insulting me, you could respond nicely honestly, and if i'm a nub at least prove your theory that you could "brick" your ipod touch....i own both...i've been into the development of jailbreaking the ipod touch and iphone since the ipod touch was released. so unless you can give me a deffinative source saying you could "brick" your phone, and not get it restored i'm going to call bs.

  • I have a rooted Drioid X but I can't figure out how to put roms on to it!!!! I have tried rom manager and it doesn't work can someone help me out?

  • still you need to be careful while doing this, especialy if youre new. while flashing a rom my friend bricked his phone 3 FRIKKIN TIMES, i dont know if you would call it briking because i was able to get his phone working again but yeeeeaaa...

p.s. WHEN IT SAYS "(something) ONLY' IT MEANS (something) ONLY!, they didnt just write the instructions as options if you want to skip some steps, you HAVE TO READ EVERYTHING (unless you already know what youre doing)

    P.P.S. NANDROID BACKUP!!

  • @Gmod10man wrong. You're not getting only free apps. You're getting loads of hacks like android like notifications, themes, widgets and all sorts of hacks.

  • @MrChrispyChris fail dude. You never rooted an iPod touch or an iPhone. You jailbreak it. And it still works even on the latest iOS 4.2. Also, efuse is actually there but the hacking community found a way to get around that a shit load of time ago. Update your information dude. Great video! Just one tiny correction: they can see it's rooted because it creates an app called superuser ;)

  • @DiogoNev i never said i rooted a ipod touch...thats stupid....all i said was that you CANNO'T brick and ipod touch.. look at my comment and read it throughly please. and i know that efuse is only on the droid x and droid 2. i know what i'm talking about just read the comment i've been involved in jailbreaking the ipod touch since it was released and i've owned all versions of it.

  • @MrChrispyChris You are the biggest nub for the week

  • @MrChrispyChris ipod touch impossible to root since 1.0 firmware?? what did i miss???

  • @KhalimWu that was a terminology mix up, i commented before i thought about what i was going to say. I know what i was supposed to say but completely messed it up my bad.

  • @MrChrispyChris You don't root an idevice you dumbass. . You jailbreak. Rooting and jailbreaking are completely different. Jailbreakin g basically allows vyyou to have widgets, Download music or movies for free that you normally wouldn't be able to do and swap themes and change your icons, As where with rooting you're flashing custom firmware. Masjor difference.

  • @spikeman23

Rooting does not equal to flashing custom firmware. rooting is just able to get into the file system and delete or put stuff into it.by rooting you can delete stuff that are by telecom which you don't like. you can also flash if you want. rooting means give you access to system file. Jailbreak just means putting another app store. Cydia is just another app store that put stuff apple don't want it to be in their official app store.

  • @MrChrispyChris stfu noob

  • You forgot your hat

  • pretty much rooting enables you to have root access. access to all the files on the phone.

  • So if you root your phone and turn it into a mobile hot spot does that show up on your data plan? Because I know that you need to buy the mobile hotspot thing for verizon, but does the tethering just eat away at your data? So if you have unlimited data you should be ok?

  • lol, must have small Peni (spelling) to root your phone

dude i dunno whay they dont just call it Jail Breaking like the iphone, or call it something different

  • @IEVLV8 because all you really get from jailbreaking is free apps which you can just get from the internet for android. And its called rooting because since android uses Linux you are basically achieving root access (acces to the root files basically, anything you want)

  • @Mrstrandy17 download one click root from xda developers

  • @TheShea82 but it doesnt work on mac and also im on the leaked froyo

  • is rooting like jailbreaking? can you download an installous type of application? im thinking of getting an android phone, please reply

  • @MrDomoFTW Don't at all. As a dev, just don't. Everything to overclock D2G is beta and very unstable, and they can only get to 1.3 Ghz (to my knowledge). In fact, I underclock mine to 1 to 800 mhz for battery.

  • Does it work on Nexus S??

  • can u help us samsung captivate on att people because we cant use 4shared and soo people help

  • @MrStrandy17 oh and make sure its the captivate specific one

  • @MrStrandy17 i have a samsung fascinate but if you want to get like free paid apps or w/e then go to Applanet.net

  • im rooted and overclocked at 1.25

and im running the new apex rom

i was wondering when gingerbread ota is out will it just

install and remove my root..or should i just unroot and go back to stock first?

  • I rooted my evo

  • can u do a video on how to put custom roms.

  • @AWcatcher11 Just attach them to the root of your sd card and flash them through recovery mode.

  • Rooting your device is never safe when you root you need to bare in mine that you can always brick your phone during the rooting process no matter how simply it is, however it is very unlikely. and if depends how complex the process it like for my DHD the process is risky. but i still recommend doing it

  • What wud u use to root android 2.1

  • People still use one step rooting processes? lol

  • but wont it void wareenty if they see superuser icon thing it puts in your appp list......ps im rooted froyo evo

  • Wait, rooting my phone will remove my kickstand off my EVO? why would i do that, i love it

  • Rooting is like taking the top speed off of a car.

  • what app do you use for wireless tethering?

  • @b3dw4rd Android Tether is great

  • @Gmod10man is that in the market? i can't find it...

  • @b3dw4rd sorry I meant wireless Tether

  • wsup man can we do a collab video? =)

  • Of course it is safe! Just follow the instructions and don't be an idiot.

  • cyanogen 6.1 froyo on droid incredible FTW

  • Rooting is safe because what it allows the phone to do is already in the phone's capabilities. It allows for WiFi tethering, but the manufacturers already made the device capable of doing it, they just disabled it to allow phone companies to charge for it. As for overclocking, most CPUs are capable of doing it, and the only reason why manufacturers don't give the user the ability from the git go is so they can add the same CPU at a higher speed on a newer device or to protect the device. Right?

  • So i would just need to unroot my Droid X before upgrading to 2.3? How high should i overclock? What is the app called for overclocking?

  • @thejoesteiger yup yup just click unroot and your good. for overclocking I used milestone overclock its free and good stable one a good speed i use for day to day is 1.25 ghz at 70 vel

  • It is as safe as being the root user on a Linux system. If you do not know what you do when u are root-user, fuck it!..

Safer than to jailbreak? .. I would not say that it's safer to jailbreak becuase you can always reset it with itunes, but a 'rooted' Android OS is a lot more stable then a jailbreaking iOS device in use...

  • I <3 YOUR HAIR XD

  • Nice :) Can't wait to see that video. Thank You for replying

  • hey man, thanks for all the vids your putting out about rooting... just got a droid x and followed your tutorial about rooting 2.2 and now i'm rocking the wireless tether and I'm overclocked to 2.3 gigahertz. oh and i downloaded some of the apps you suggested too, so awesome! keep up the awesome vids!

  • Can u do updated MY SETUP video Please. By the way your videos are cool dude.

  • @iRoom4Macintosh thanks man = ] and I will at the new house in bout a week or so its huge and i painted half the wall a green screen its like a studio when i move all my stuff over there ill do a room tour.
