  • Great upload..thanks for posting :)

  • drummer sandy nelson

  • Brilliant....Guitar playing is fantastic. The drums are something too!!...I love the way they make them roll from left to right and right to left in the speakers. All the music is brilliant what a fantastic piece of music.

  • @TheHitDetector You are right from one speaker to the other . Then at the end it rolls across .

  • Sounds like the horn is trying to say: Freight Train! Freight Train!

  • great stuff,, jod,,,, is there a tune by duane, wayward wind???

  • Incredible tune! Have the "45". Who's the drummer? Is it Hal Blaine? Produced by the GREAT Jimmy Bowen.

  • @Trixon821 pretty sure it's Hal. it's that signature 'fall off' single headed tom sound.

  • 49 atir

    duane eddy ist der größte!

  • Great trailer man!! going to download this in downloadmusic .im

  • Indeed; still amazing!

  • Geeeeeeeeez will someone please upload "Tuxedo Junction"?! Me thinks the Duane Eddy version is THE BEST !!!!

  • Years ago I saw Duane Eddy open a Ry Cooder show at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz, CA. 90% of the crowd came for Ry Cooder, but by the end of the night Duane Eddy owned 'em. Crowd reaction stuck with me. These two young kids (college age) were in awe of Duane Eddy. One remarked: "I never knew you get that kind of sound out of a guitar - How does he do it?" My reply: "One word kid: Talent."

  • Pity - this is not the same sound as "Peter Gunn" or "Rebel Rouser" !!

  • Ow!

this a prime eg. of why lil missi cotten (alone) is/was better than any army of peeps, drum samples...throw in the brass.??``..only good here, are the vocals(wink x2)

sry Brent bro, u got a grt channel but i just clicked to this from the original and am in a state of shock.

    LHM

  • Brent441! Thanks for posting this song. I think it rocks!!

  • good song but for some reason the horns feel tacked on and the "yakety sax" referene dosen't bold too well with this particuler song.

  • PÅ svenska heter den väl lyckan kommer lyckan går

  • Duane Eddy's guitar -- always great. So much of what surrounds it on too many songs is, let's face it... CRAP. Overdone and generic-sounding. A simple tune like Freight Train does not need horns. Some '60s Chet Atkins is like this too. Really nice guitar, then a horrid burst of unnecessary 'Yakety-Sax.' Duane, Chet.. should be all guitar. The dated 'sweetening up' is hard to listen to.

  • super thanks

  • Not really a surf song is it?

  • Nice stereo panning..pretty cool indeed!

  • Yes please - a cookie for me too.

  • I thought She WENT back to the day!

    1957, that aint nothing.

    That's My Day!

I thought Lizbeth Cotton went back to the Slave day!

  • This was long ago...I remember that music.Thank you Duane Eddy

  • Cool,Rock on Mr. Eddy.

  • Duane Eddy, will Headline the "Deke Dickerson Guitar Geek Festival" at the Anaheim Plaza Hotel in Anaheim, Ca on January 16, 2010.

  • @onemikehart

Duane Eddy...has a new CD out on amazon.com called "Road trip" go to his FaceBook and Twitter accounts to keep up with him and say hello.

  • Duane Eddy, has just put a new Christmas song on his...My Space Page.

  • Fantanstic I have not heard this before.

I got Duanes forst Single way back in the 50s

  • WOW

  • libby cotton wrote this song. she was a maid in the seeger (pete) household, and she played the guitar upside down cause she was a lefty.

  • i didn't know elizabeth cotton was a maid for the seeger's well if you'de like to see her play it's on her she's unreal....

  • Duane Eddy will play the.....Copper mountain Guitar Festival in Colorado, USA this Summer (2009).

  • A brand new Duane Eddy CD will feature Brian Setzer, Phil Everly and Griffen House. Look for "Artifacts Of Twang" very soon.

  • Happy happy!

  • Well played on stations in Utah and Idaho, although not a national hit. I believe "Monitor" (NBC) played it too.

  • Excellent interpretation

  • ....Duane con i Rebels ed i Champs(quelli di Tequila) dominavano in lungo e largo...I Champs si sono persi ma Duane è sempre "THE ONE"....

  • Duane Eddy will release "Artifacts of Twang" Spring 2009.

  • Good stuff!

  • I wonder where the drum panning came in, is this a remaster?

  • Sounds like a 4 track mid-60's recording, everything's recorded in mono - including the drums - and simply panned during the stereo mix - though there's some guy twisting the pan knob during the 'The Quaalude Thunder'. ( Frank Zappa's term )

For sick fun, I should download said 'thunder', and jam it through stoopid amounts of compression and 'verb.

    Solid drummer btw.

  • very boooggy version???

  • I love Duanne Eddy & I love the song "Freight Train", but I'm not sure that the two go together. I'd much rather listen to the Nancy Whiskey version.

  • Elizabeth Cotten sure did write great songs. I'm not so keen on this interpretation though.

  • i agree with you. it kind of takes the entire effort out of the song and just adds ALOT of reverb onto the guitar.. but oh well.

  • i agree

  • love this record. did jessi colter and her husband at the time before waylon duane eddy do any songs together?

  • James who??

  • Only two guitarists received the Guitar Musics Legend award. One is Duane and the other is Les Paul..that says it all! RWB

  • I think Les Paul is credited with inventing the electric guitar, and if memory serves he did not have all his fingers to play it with

  • Les Paul had all his fingers. He was in a car accident and injured his right (picking) elbow, and it was basically bolted at the proper angle to play his guitar. That might what you're referring to. "After the crash, doctors told Paul that they'd have to set his arm such that he would not be able to bend it again. He had them position his arm at a ninety degree angle so he could still play guitar". (From Wikipedia)

  • No, Les Paul sure didn't invent the electric guitar. Not much invention there anyway...just put a mic (pickup) in an acoustic. But Les Paul did build one of the first solid body guitars, trying to get around...feedback. "In 1941, Paul designed and built one of the first solid-body electric guitars (though Leo Fender also independently created his own solid-body electric guitar around the same time, and Adolph Rickenbacher had marketed a solid-body guitar in the 30s)." (Wikipedia)

  • Check out Grady Martin

  • Thank you. G Martin is a great picker.

  • Hey y'all, for your info i toured with Duanne and he plays some real nice jazz and country licks on his days off..need i say any more!!!!

  • I read quite a while ago the Eddy was a pretty accomplished blues finger picker, in the John Hurt/Libby Cotten style. Just because that wasn't his bread and butter doesn't mean a musician can't do other styles.

  • In fact.. NO they cant really be compared... Thanks for sharing!

  • James Burton was ´better

  • Duane Eddy...have twangy guitar, will travel...

  • I guess there isn't anyone out there old enough to have heard of a fellow named Les Paul. What makes them all great isn't whether they are better than anyone else, but that they all have their own distictive style.

  • I remember Les Paul and Mary Ford quite well..Les used to crack bubble gum sometimes when recording his music...It can be heard on some of his recordings as a loud crack in the background.

  • i'm 18 and i know les paul

  • congradulations, want a cookie?

  • @killerlimes you obviously do

  • I own Les Paul ;-)

    And I'm also 18.

  • lol

  • I think that it's not that Duane Eddy was better or best...it's just he created a different sound to his guitar.....

  • OK, so Duane wasn't the best guitarist around - but he made some great records; very much of the time but a great sound. No matter how many better guitarist I hear, Duane will still hold a special place with me and a special place in music history

  • actually duane was a very good guitarist if you listen to his chet atkins style of finger picking you will hear an exceptional guitarist...as for his twangy sound..well it made hime money..easy to play but it is what they all wanted to hear

  • There is no better player than James Burton.

  • You folks should listen to James Burton. There are none any better.

  • Thanks for all the wild record covers

  • Duane Eddy was already the boss, without this created production razzmatazz drumz and hornz.

  • "There may be better guitarists than Duane Eddy ~ I just don't know of any."? ~ You might start with Chet Atkins.

  • no freaking kidding. duane's playing pales in comparison to chet. then again so does everyone else

  • There may be better guitarists than Duane Eddy - - I just don't know of any.

  • Brian Setzer..Not to put Duane down or anything, he is amazing, but i still believe that Setzer is up there with him.

  • Thanks for this video of Duane. I am a long time fan.

  • Awesome tone!

  • his newer music isnt as good as his fities and sixties hits, except perhaps "matchbox" with carl perkins.

  • Gotta' get that one....

  • this is the boss guitar!

  • I think any Duane Eddy tune is great...

  • I meant "He" is the boss guitar.

    you're right fourfourone

  • @rotesvelles Duane is a good looking guy always dressed sharp acted in the movie the savage 7 played a biker named eddie [ a girl in my class thought duane eddy and duane dobie gilis hickman were the same person?].
