It's stupid. Blake Griffin does the exact same thing by hanging from the rim after a two handed dunk, but he doesn't get called for a T. Stupid super star protection calls from the NBA refs.
yeah you cant slap the back board i remember in 2003, Kobe did the same thing against the t-mac and got a techincal, its stupid, the NBA is so soft now, i swear the WNBA has more contact then the nba now
I am a trick shot guy on youtube, and my videos are sooo very underrated. If you guys took the time to just spend 20-30 seconds, it would mean alot. Please thumbs up so everyone can come see. Check out my basketball trick shots, and like and/or subscribe for more! (Some great shots coming)!
@Resare305 You say he "slapped" it. I say he got his hand off the rim before going down, and it happened to go to the rim. You can see his hand trailing down the backboard as he falls. If he'd slapped it it would have been off of it, most likely. In short, whatever the supposed reason for the technical, it was still a stupid, unreasonbale, mood-shattering, fun-breaking call.
@gilless429 ..he pulled his hand off the rim to hit or "slap" the backboard, and it's clearly outlined in the rules that a player who intentionally hits or slaps the backboard will receive a T. Unless going for a block, then it's considered incidental. I even looked up the rule before I posted. And when you dunk your hand doesn't "happen" to go to the backboard, he knows what he did, and even if it's a dumb rule, all the players know it and are expected to abide by it.
@Resare305 I didn't say his hand happened to go to the backboard I said he got it off the rim and THEN it happened to go to it. When you don't put it out of context it sounds a lot better since where every limb goes isn't always easy to control when you're getting yourself off a 10 feet high rim. And whether he did it intentionally or not is just your interpretation dear sir (or lady), so please don't claim he did it purposefully since you can't prove it. =) At least we agree it's a stupid rule.
@gilless429 by go you mean forcefully slap right? Well he obviously knew what he was doing seeing as he pulled himself up then slapped the backboard. and the proof is in the video! he wasn't out of control, he was just amped up that he made a good play and pulled himself up and slapped the backboard out of excitement. and that's a technical. look it up.
warriors wins this game and i thought they're going to be a playoff contender cos they beat Bulls.. smh :/

@Resare305 Sorry, I meant it happened to go to the backboard, not to the rim.
