@scottobiblestudy ive got a question for you tho just to consider. Say evolution were true, it still wouldnt disprove anything theoretically, because in Genesis it states that on the day before man was created, there were plants and animals. I also think that time is one with Yaweh so a day is nothing to him. he controls time and the holy spirit enforces all natural laws. Maybe you see this diffrently but id like to hear what u think about it.
@rioyuske Thanks for stopping in. Evolution cannot be true. There is a scientific basis for that conclusion, but in theological terms, death cannot precede sin. The cross, burial (lack of decay) and resurrection of Christ were accomplished to undo death (what scripture calls "the last enemy"). Both Peter and Paul make a great deal about the lack of decay in the tomb in their first messages. This is because the reversal of the curse (decay and death) are at the heart of the plan of God in Christ.
@scottobiblestudy Completely agree, haha its crazy how my viewpoints have completely changed in a month. I went from "bible can be interpreted" to "the bible is the infallible word of God. It is scientifically and historically accurate". Thank you for your answer though!
Once again, an excellent piece of work. The Bible, with no fault of itself, has been labeled "contradiction after contradiction," due to Christendom's fallible teachings and vain traditions. Just as a carpenter needs a hammer to correctly do carpentry, the believer needs "right division(appropriate tool), so the inspired word can correctly interpret itself. Without this masterful tool, the pulpit will continue to be used by Satan, contradicting the word of God, as he did in the beginning.
@lizazoon - well thank god evolution is a theory. That means on the scale of facts it beats religion! Because religion is not fact because you can't back it up with any. You would not dare call it the theory of religion or god, which would give it some credit, but you would be sticking your foot in your mouth if you did. And you wouldn't have any ammo against evolution at that point. So what labels are left? Oh! Fairytales and myth
@ThePublicIsInsane Well, evolution is, to be honest, a silly theory based on the absolute removal of a possible conclusion. If I walk in my house and all the furniture was lined up and all my books placed in alphabetical order and I started with the conclusion that it must have happened by accident (for no reason), then my "theories" would be fascinating, but stupid. It is logical to conclude that order and information do not produce themselves. In fact, those are "laws" of science.
Well then you can't promote the bible as the absolute word of god if can change, choose not to do, omit, overlook, or reject parts of the bible. In doing so your practically admitting god didn't have his shit right from the start. So then he's not all knowing. And explain to me why god demands animal sacrifice for sins in chapters 1-9 of Leviticus?
@ThePublicIsInsane I sense you are simply a contrarian... but in case you ever do want to investigate the facts (as many of us former evolutionists have)... God never changes, the conditions simply change. Every letter in the Bible is there for a purpose. Most of the economies in the Bible are there to show man that he is a failure no matter the conditions he is given. The Sacrifices in the Law are types and picture different aspects of the life and sacrifice of Christ.
@lizazoon "the assembly" is not heaven or the New Jerusalem (with which the gates of pearl are connected). If you were actually a serious student or even if you simply wanted to understand my position... you would understand that conditions under the Sinai Covenant had nothing to do with the gift of resurrection life. By wantonly connecting "the assembly" with the Gates of Pearl, you merely expose your ignorance of the topic. Speaking of pearls, I am probably casting mine imprudently. :)
@lilianhofstede Thanks for asking... The "different ways" are clear if we just seek the context (which is often found by just looking at whom the text is directed). The Lord commanded his disciples not to preach "the gospel of the kingdom" to anyone but to Jews and nowhere outside of Israel. That makes sense since the "kingdom" was promised only to Israel and to Jews. However, that does not mean that new life was unavailable to gentiles. We see gentiles come to faith in the gospels too.
@lizazoon You can a lot of things out of context and apply to whomever you wish, but that does not mean that the interpretation is accurate or applicable. The context of the Law is Israel (Ex 19:5-6). Thanks.
@lizazoon It's not murder. That was the penalty for punishment for working on the Sabbath. Israel was specifically chosen for a specific mission. You are correct on one hand; in terms of the free gift of resurrection life, all are equal before God. But in terms of the future temple, faithful Israel has been chosen as the "priests." Priests for whom? Believing gentiles, in that age. The Lord acknowledged gentiles who acknowledged him as God, but he only acknowledged Jews who came to him as king.
@scottobiblestudy: If your religion bends your sense of morality to the point ,that you do not see this as murder pure and simple, then your religion is EVIL.
@lizazoon Where does one get a sense of morality? You will note that the Sabbath restrictions are part of a covenant that Israel said she would keep. Gentiles were not obligated under that covenant, they had no Sabbath restrictions. Israel willingly accepted the terms of the Law and covenant. If you look over the history of Israel, you will find very few examples of the death penalty being applied. God provided many ways (Cities of refuge, sacrifices, jubilees, etc.) to allow people a way out.
@scottobiblestudy> You are beating around the bush; I repeat, if your bible has bend your sense of morality to the extend that you can justify, the murder of a man, because he gathered firewood on the Sabbath, then your bible is EVIL.
@lizazoon It's not a matter of beating around the bush, it's a matter of you not following. I asked where you get your concept of morality. It must come from somewhere, right? I repeat, in the case of the laws requiring death, they were rarely carried out (for God is merciful) and they were entered into willingly. No one was ever required to come under the Law for resurrection life. The requirement was for the priesthood. The Law revealed Israel's failings and provided a way of atonement.
@scottobiblestudy If you study evolution you will know exactly where morality comes from. It certainly does not come from the bible. Did you ever read the OT from A to Z ?
@lizazoon I've studied it. It is an illogical theory... but even given its impossible models, "morality" would simply be an accident for no reason as natural laws do not have use for a concept such as "morality" (is gravity "moral"?). If all killing is "murder" then evolution is immoral as it is predicated on the necessity of death. If evolution gave us morality, then it also gave us hate. If an asteroid hits another asteroid, is it being "immoral"? Is there something beyond stimuli-response?
@scottobiblestudy : Morality is an absolute necessity for evolution. Is it so difficult to understand ? Simply imagine a scociety, a family, a tribe, a clan, with no morality at all. It simply can`t survive. That is were morality comes from. Not from god.
@lizazoon Why does evolution "care"? How can it "care"? Do other natural phenomena "care"? Does it matter if the moon is destroyed? What entity is behind evolution? What does "survive" mean? Whay does survival matter? If life is merely an accident without purpose, and if our elements are no different than the sun, moon or stars and since matter can neither be created nor destroyed... why does evolution care about any clan? Do animals have morality?
@scottobiblestudy Evolution doesn`t care, but survival is almost impossible without a minimum of morality. Evolution doesn`t care, but family cares about family, clan members care about other clan members etc. There is nothing godly about it.
@lizazoon If evolution doesn't care (and is simply a natural phenomenon like gravity) where does morality come from? What does "survival" mean? Since matter can neither be created nor destroyed and energy can neither be created nor destroyed, how are cells any greater than a moon rock? Do stars "care"? When animals kill each other are they "immoral"? You've created a value system in a purely naturalistic construct, while simultaneously believing that all matter comes from the same inert origin.

Numbers 15:3236
32. When the children of Israel were in the desert, they found a man gathering wood on the Sabbath day.
33. Those who found him gathering wood presented him before Moses and Aaron and before the entire congregation.
.
35. The Lord said to Moses, The man shall be put to death; the entire congregation shall pelt him with stones outside the camp.
, and they pelted him to death with stones, as the Lord had commanded Moses.

@scottobiblestudy This is all bla bla bla about nothing. Morality is an absolute component of evolution and is certainly not a byproduct of the bible:
If your neighbours work on Saturday, kill them.
If your child throws oatmeal at you, kill him.
If your mom plants corn and pumpkins in the same field, kill her.
If your sister has premarital sex, kill her
If the folks in the next town aren't Christians,
kill them all and take their baby girls home for sex slaves.
