I use whatever characters I want.  I think the essence of being a good fighting game player is learning to use the characters you want to use, not focusing on beating other people's characters. My team is Virgil, Dante, and Amaratsu, regardless of who is good or bad against them.

Well, I get your point as scrubs do complain in any competitive forum due to their lack of focus and abilities. But there are a lot of MvC2 vets that complained about MvC3 as it did not have the same play style and characters similar to MvC2. Sanford states it best as mostly unknowns will be the meat of this game. I dont particularly care much for MvC3 but it is entertaining. UMvC3 is much more balanced as the whore-based XF has been scaled. But Wesker? Spencer? WTF?

It is alright if characters are cheap look at mvc2. Yes, they were very difficult

tiers do matter as abilities contribute to tier rankings, certain characters will always beat certain characters its just that simple. But Spencer is not used by others because do not have the patience to learn his game, Combofiend has that knack for finding something thats highly effective, most MvC3 gamers want the quick kill. Also, Combofiend plays honest as his name...combos. Knives is another Spencer, hes legit and actually has more "flashy" combos.
