Kinda sends chills through your body to hear musicians who actually know what instruments are for and how to use 'em. Fabulous post. This was my first Blackbyrds album.
Was clothes shopping and heard the song, wrote down the lyrics but no help. This morning at random I said the song sounded like it could be the Blackbyrds......hot damn it is!!!
This song is simply a MASTERPIECE. Brothers were making opus' back in the 70's.
This is my first time hearing this song and love it. There is a techno version of this song also, I love that version to. I probably heard it before in the 1970s and forgot about it. Thanks for uploading it.
Adore this unknown tune by these cats.....great bass and harmonized voices. If I step on up toward heaven may this tune be flying by me on the way up! Love walking here in downtown L.A. in rhyme with the birds, trees and the beautiful Ladies!

Classic post, of course. Duke University, Durham, NC freshman year. D Byrd's collegiate influence continued at NC Central the following year with NCCU's "Super Trick" in 1977.
This is one of my favorites (City Life Flying High and All I Ask are the others) Orville Saunders is playing an nice but steady Electric Guitar and Joe Hall with the Bass. Orville's best work was the Rhythmn Guitar on City Life. The flutist either Stephen Johnson
or Joe Wesley) was excellent. Hubert Laws would have been proud.
@januwerygirl I remember it too, never mind that I was a senior in high school and first heard in on WBLS circa 1977; it stayed in MY head also, forevermore.
I first heard this track in 1976 not heard it since found it again today on youtube still sounds as fresh today as it did when I first heard it back then,a classic tune
By the way, this is a perfect song to do a workout dance to if you are looking to keep those hips slim and abs tight. I still boogey to this tune and believe me it keeps me slim and young. Not to mention keeps my head on cloud 9.
Summertime in NY, walking around Red Hook, eating pizza and catching up with old friends still in the old neighborhood, this song blasting from those boom boxes...good times for sure...mellow and nice.
sounds like bobbi humphrey on the flutes
