@curtmastor No, its called clutchless shifting. I normally pull in the clutch when upshifting but you can simply tap the shift lever and it'll kick into the next gear. The feeling is kind of hard to describe. I usually don't shift like that because the bike sometimes "jerks forward". Not violent enough to throw you off the bike but enough to make me feel a little uncomfortable.
@latchyj Its funny because I actually go to at least 2 MotoGP races a year and the Honda bikes have always sounded the best to me. The Ducati's are usually the loudest, but the Hondas have always been great sounding. I actually think that the LCR Hondas sound the very best, but thats just because they had different exhaust vendors then the factory Honda team.
@BARRON120: Right, it was introducted at the end of 2006, the first MotoGP season was in 2007. But the more interesting question is: What is going to happen in 2012 and the new 1000cc engines? Maybe they are going back to the V5-concept, which was the most dominant engine/bike in the 990cc era (with an incredible sound).
Also did at any point did any of the moto gp bikes sound like a typical inline 4??????,y know after the 4 stroke rule waas introduced or did they they always have the v engine sound?I know ducati and honda s engines were always the v config engines i m talkin bout suzuki, yam and kawi...
@saudikid The shifting can be set to a reverse pattern on almost any bike. A lot of my fellow friends/track day riders prefer a reverse shift pattern. It's actually what the rider prefers.
@mikeerfol Race gearbox....Street bikes shift like this 1st gear down 2-6 Are up. Race bikes shift 1-6 down then you move the shifter up to down shift.
you dont have to pull the clutch to shift?

@BARRON120 lol. and why is that?
lowgonn 1 year ago
@lowgonn Honda never build a V5 in the 800cc competition. It started with a V4 in 2006 and it still is a V4.

@emilyarelyvictor this is a motogp engine.. if its not done like this it could break..
get all gears spining and lubricated, clutch facing cleaned before heat...'
build oil pressure ..
doing this with any bike is better than simply turning it on
