My wife heard this man preach at our church one morning back in the early eighties. He made the ushers close the doors and would not let anyone leave. He was very adamant and threatening. He gave people the opportunity to leave before the doors were closed but that was it. His end in this world was pretty much what you would expect from a character like this. Disgusting.

I met Jack Hyles, and spoke with him at length on the phone as well. He was a funny, generous, sincere man who loved Jesus and was genuinely concerned about people going to Hell...he had a very folksy, home-spun, narrative style of preaching, but for those who listened to him, he spoke the truth of the Gospel, in love. Jack, you are missed :)

It was about 12 years ago but I can recall him picking on the guy with the camera. It was my first time hearing Jack Hyles preach; I didn't know much about him then, so I just listend to him like I would any other preacher. By the end of the sermon, I knew that he wasn't 'just another preacher'.

If Jack did 1/2 of what many proclaim him to have done, the entire Chicago region would be on fire for the Lord. Obviously it isn't. Having people mumble some words while caught up in an emotional moment, writing the date down in their Bibles, isn't what true salvation is about.
