WOW!! Very, very awesome. I have never seen this technique before. How will the bead hold up in a situation like this-- as in,does it need new shelac applied to be "as good as new"? As always my friend, great video...
@someharleyguy Thanks, and I'm glad you thought this was cool. As long as the bead is clean it will be hold air just as well as if it were done on a tire machine... Good as new.
When I saw the torch, the ether being sprayed liberally, and the comment, " That might be too much," the last words of a redneck came to mind: "Hey, Y'all, watch this!" It's just really difficult to keep flammables, flames, explosives, and such things away from us guys. :-)
Thank you for FINALLY revealing what HAD been one of the best kept secrets from the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. This process makes it much easier than unloading all the moonshine off the trailer, fixing the tire, and reloading all those one gallon jugs. You gotta move fast when Smokey is prowling the woods, and I ain't talkin' about bears.
I work in a burn unit in Tennessee and thought I just might see you as a patient , was a little nervous . Thought the propane explosion would be bigger.
@MrRichardbryan Hearing from someone who treats burn patients does give me some reservations about having a video like this posted. I guess this is one of those activities where a guy has to weigh the risk vs. reward. The alternate method is even less safe from my experience. Maybe at the very least I should have had glasses and long sleeves, but if this procedure is too dangerous then all my bullet casting with molten lead is way out of the question. I do appreciate your input.
@Brandon401401 That's awesome! The 3" should be a great size, shootable and still ultra-light weight. Drop it in a coat pocket when you go hiking around and you forget it's there.
@j0enasser The ether burns very fast and heats the air evenly inside the tire and pushes the bead against the rim. It's important to get the air compressor chuck on the tire quickly, before the air inside of it cools and shrinks.
@wcalosso54 You must be a true survivalist to have this in your bag of snow plowing tricks!

@tnoutdoors9 Indeed, my friend. It's all about efficiency and subterfuge when conducting clandestine, over-the-road operations in the South.
